If you're traveling to Preston Idaho, chances are good that your either on your way to the famous "Preston Night Rodeo" or you're just dropping by for a sneak peak at the now famous home of Napolean Dynamite. Lucky! In 2004, this low-budget movie created a cult-like following that has propelled Preston, Idaho to the fore-front of high school pop-culture. This movie is a must-see if you're planning your next trip out to the "Sweet" side of Idaho. The recent movie success has brought fans to Preston from all over the world. They're picking up boondoggle key chains, souvenir shirts, tetherballs and "Vote for Pedro" t-shirts. If you're lucky enough to be one of the 5,000 residents that call Preston, Idaho their home, then you're probably used to fresh air and lots of live stock. Preston is the largest town in Franklin County (not that that's really important, but it's polite to know the local geography), which is located in the South East corner of Idaho. The town is less than 30 miles from Utah State University, home of the Aggies (an Aggie is a sweet little buzz-word they came up with for "Agricultural School Student." In the early days, Preston was called Worm Creek when it was settled back in 1888 because the waterways running through the valley resembled worm trails that were carved into the ground. Luckily, they decided to change the name some years later. Famous sites in Preston include the Oneida Stake Academy Building, the Worm Creek Opera House Summer Theatre, the Bear River Massacre site, Historic Downtown Franklin, and Napolean's favorite pet Llama, Tina.
