Buddha Bar
Apr 11, 2008 by maura from florida
Overall Rating: 5 User Rating Score: 5
Food:[1] • Service:[2] • Atmosphere:[8]

  • Still fun for see and be seen.
  • Awful, expensive food.

“Pitch black and mostly awful food but it is still the place to go and be seen. Much better for drinks than real food, but lots of pretty people there late at night. Great atmosphere, great music, but eat before you go.”

Buddha Bar
Feb 1, 2008 by Andreia
Overall Rating: 3 User Rating Score: 3
Food:[3] • Service:[1] • Atmosphere:[8]

  • Atmosphere.
  • Service.

“Besides the decoration (the statue is beautiful), this is not a place to go: the service was horrible, the food presentation is bad and it's quite difficult not to find in Paris a better place to spend the money we paid for one meal, at dinner time (they even charge for collecting the clients jackets.). Ill never go back and strongly disservice anyone to go.”

Smoking Dog (The)
Dec 8, 2007 by Renee
Overall Rating: 1 User Rating Score: 1
Food:[1] • Service:[1] • Atmosphere:[1]

  • Nothing.
  • Do not go to this restaurant.

“On December 7 I attended a UBC Christmas dinner at the Smoking Dog. After waiting well over an hour for the staff to take our orders, one of the attendees went to ask how much longer it would be until we could order. The owner was very rude and told her that his kitchen was very busy. Wait. This was an advance booking and the restaurant did not seemed prepared for our group. We finally had our orders taken and a small quantity of bread was delivered to the table. After a spill at one table, a fresh napkin was requested. The server was rude and very reluctantly filled the request. One of the guests had their foot quite heavily stomped on en-route to the washroom. The waiter first asked if their foot was ok and then chastised the guest for getting in his way. The washrooms were a fire hazard; a shelf with burning tea lights was positioned almost directly under the automatic paper dispenser. The food was mediocre. A strip loin steak less than a quarter inch thick (with fries), salmon with no flavor and tough chicken. The deserts were poor and not what was indicated on the menu (custom menu for the group). No one was offered coffee. The few people that did manage to get coffee (which was supposed to be included) only managed to do so by finding staff and specifically requesting it. When the liquor bills were presented an 18% tip was added as well as a charge for coffee. When one guest queried the gratuity charge (he mentioned that no one was even offered coffee), the owner told him to get out of his restaurant. Another person asked if she could speak with the owner and she was brushed off and told to get out of the restaurant. This was a group of 40 mature professionals who at most had two drinks each. Do not ever go to this restaurant. The service is poor, the food overpriced and the owner has serious issues. If you are not a member of this restaurants "inner circle" you are not welcome. It was by far the most unpleasant and outlandish experience I have ever had in a restaurant.”

Boccaccio (Le)
Oct 11, 2007 by Linda from Myrtle Beach, SC
Overall Rating: 10 User Rating Score: 10
Food:[10] • Service:[10] • Atmosphere:[9]

  • The food, the service.
  • The noisy business dinner nearby.

“Two of us shared the Loup au Sel - a Mediterranean fish baked in a flour/salt combination that hardens and has to be cracked open. Watching the staff extract the fish, skin it, and bone it was a treat in itself. The fish melted in your mouth. The raspberry gateau was also fabulous, and the Italian waiter was a hoot. A total treat.”
