Parade Cafe
Aug 28, 2006 by Darien from Wellington
Overall Rating: 4 User Rating Score: 4
Food:[3] • Service:[5] • Atmosphere:[6]

  • Occasionally nice cake & good atmosphere when not too full.
  • Really bad coffee.

“Used to be a great place. We were really looking forward to making this our haunt when moving to Oriental Parade, but unfortunately ownership or management has changed in the meantime and the current owners/managers don't inspire confidence. The worst coffee in Wellington! This assessment is based on five or six visits - we didn't want to give up too easily.”

Toast
Mar 3, 2006 by Aaron from Paraparaumu
Overall Rating: 2 User Rating Score: 2
Food:[1] • Service:[3] • Atmosphere:[6]

  • Very good hot drinks.
  • Terrible service, worse food.

“My partner and I went to Toast on a cold Saturday morning hoping for an excellent hot meal as is often available at Wellington's mostly fantastic cafe scene. However what we got was a grim reception by the first waitress who kept her back to us for some 3 minutes before giving us a dismissive wave over her shoulder and suggesting we take ourselves upstairs to find a seat. The coffee and hot chocolate that followed were very good. However, the food was abysmal. My partner's Toast Baggy was sans eggs, quote, the chef changed the water and it didn't heat up fast enough. However it seems he waited a while, because the food was Luke warm and the plate stone cold. My own Lambs Kidneys were an example of how one cooks kidneys when one doesn't know how. There was it seems next to no preparation, other than being cut in half. They were chewy and stringy, still having all the fat and tubes inside.”
