at the front desk was very friendly, upgraded our room from a king and sofa sleeper to two queen beds. Rooms were very big, clean, and comfortable.”

• The room was nice.
• Broken elevator and broken ice machine.

“We stayed here nearly a week. During that whole time, the elevator near our room was out of order. The ice maker on our floor was also broken for our entire stay. The room comes with a free breakfast, but the food was very poor. The hotel is understaffed and the staff that is there is friendly, but very young and inexperienced. They don't understand their customers needs.”

• Very clean, friendly hotel.

“We really enjoyed this hotel and felt it was great value for the money. Everything was very clean and modern looking, the pool and hot tub were both good sized. The gym was nice with newer equipment. Would definitely stay here again!”

• Free parking in downtown area.
• Smoking allowed inside hotel.

“Would not recommend to leisure or non-smoking travelers. Hard to get to from the interstate. Smoking allowed in hotel and lobby reeked of smoke. Downtown hotel with limited street parking but at least parking is free with stay. Room was small, couldn't get luggage dolly in the door without hitting desk and bed.”

• It seemed out dated and the out side was falling apart.

“I didn't stay long, just over night. The bed was nice and comfortable. It is close to the falls, the path is just out side. It's not the nicest/newest place to stay but it was worth the money.”

“Fit the purpose of just passing through for travel. Pretty poor in appearance and decor, but mostly friendly staff. It was barely worth the money.”

• The hotel has been almost completely renovated almost everything was redone and nice.
• The front desk didn't have it together, check in took over 20 minutes and there was only one other person and two desk clerks.

“The hotel property was great. Staff friendly and efficient, except for the front desk, which didn't have a clue what their job was. Beautiful view in a river front room. Nice balcony in each river front room. Breakfast (free) was above average.”

• I liked the fact that this motel was not next to a highway, and located next to the river. The reception staff was friendly.
• The waitress for the buffet breakfast didn't seem to want to be there.

“I was pleasantly surprised in our room. It was spacious and the beds were actually comfortable! I always look for a hotel that offers breakfast when we travel, so this was perfect.”

• Good location on the Snake River. Nice and clean room.
• I was not initially given the room for which I asked and was not satisfied with the front desk's response to the problem.

“Nice hotel located on the Snake River. Great buffet-style breakfast and clean rooms. My only complaint is I requested a room with 2 queens and was given one with 1 king. When I inquired at the front desk the girl originally suggested my guest sleep on the pull-out couch. When I pointed out this was not satisfactory, I was given the room for which I originally booked. Definitely call this hotel immediately prior to your stay to confirm room choice. Get names from guest services.”

• All rooms were suites, location, free buffet breakfast.
• Towels & sheets smelled of bleach, does not measure up to other 3 stars we've stayed in.

“The location was great - right next to the Snake River. A free buffet breakfast was included for my whole family. The rooms are being redecorated and it's nice to that all the rooms are suites. The bleach smell was a little overwhelming right outside the guest entrance and the towels and sheets also smelled heavily of bleach. I would recommend this hotel.”

• The staff went out of their way to help us.

“After finishing a phone conversation we were requested for more linen and pillows, the front desk clerk called back and asked if we needed a roll-away. He assumed correctly what we needed even though we were too shy to ask. A few minutes later, the roll-away appeared for us at no additional charge. In addition, the breakfast they served that comes with the cost of a night's stay was also very good. Our family had a great night's rest as we traveled on the next day to Yellowstone.”

• The pool and jacuzzi were awesome! The place is clean and the rooms are big.
• The free breakfast is a joke. The food was cold and the waitress seemed to have no clue as to what she was doing.

“The hotel itself was great: clean, big rooms, nice pool area. The continental breakfast is left to be desired. The waitress was clueless and the food was not good. Most of it was cold.”

“The Shilo is probably the finest hotel in Idaho Falls. It is in a great scenic location, right next to the Snake River and across from the Mormon temple. The staff was very helpful and personable.”

• Right along the Snake River, very beautiful.
• I would have liked a room with a view of the river, but you can't have everthing.

“The Shilo Inn sits right along the Western Bank of the Snake River, just before the falls for which Idaho Falls is named. Although my room did not have a view of the river, about half of the rooms do. There is a nice greenbelt and walkway right down to the river and it's a lovely place for a stroll. The hotel was clean, well appointed and the free breakfast bar was adequate and stocked with a variety of food.”
