“The service was horrible.” Feb 15, 2009 by
Steve from Fairlawn
“Absolutely horrible service. Waiters literally dropped dishes off and sprinted away or ran by the table at full speed. Waited about 90 minutes for 2 meals and then the meat (ordered well done) came out barely cooked - just braised. Manager said the only time to get decent service is during the week.” Nov 17, 2008 by

“I attended a party there this past Saturday (my first time ever to the place). The party had been booked well in advance and the restaurant was more than aware of what to expect. I should have been as well. I was greeted at the door by what I assume was a manager who rudely snapped. We have a liquor license when he saw I was carrying bottles of wine (for gifts, mind you) Not "hello", not "welcome", just an immediate bad start by this jerk. The seating area upstairs was nice and the drinks came relatively quickly, as did the appetizers after our menus were basically tossed to us by a less than enthusiastic wait staff. The food came out to our 3 tables in an order only Rain Man could understand, with some people (including myself) waiting up to 10 minutes after everyone else had been served. The miserable manager from downstairs was hovering around the party, looking at us and then his watch as if he couldn't wait to get us out of there, nice, right? They are lucky they included the gratuity in the check. All in all, I think that will be my last visit to Portobello..The food is not worth the aggravation of a miserable staff who could obviously care less what people think. I spent more time thinking of creative ways to tell them off then I did enjoying the party! You would be better off at an Olive Garden than here!” Jul 28, 2008 by

“Food deserves a 7.5 or 8 as the portions are incredibly large at quite reasonable prices. One appetizer is enough for a table of four, or two for a very hungry table. I only rate Portobello as a 5 overall because the service was terrible. Waits were longer than we were told they would be. The bartender was curt at best, flat out rude at worst. About 2/3 of the customers were dressed as if they were on their way to a waterpark or a meal at the local Burger King. This deflated what should have been a fine dining atmosphere in their new building with a new menu. If they get their wait staff, hostess, and bartender's acts together and actually enforce something resembling a dress code, i.e., no t-shirts or shorts, then they'd be well on their way to 8 out of 10 score territory.” Jul 17, 2008 by

“I went to Portobello's last night with 2 friends. Today 2 of us have food poisoning (one of us ordered chicken, the other steak). The restaurant was completely disorganized. Even the waiters were frustrated. We waited forever for our meal, which apparently we should have skipped. Obviously they are not running the restaurant properly or in a sanitary way. I would not take a chance and go again!” Mar 3, 2008 by

“We waited 90 minutes for dinner, with two children at the table. When they eventually arrived, the meals were tasty. The chairs are over worn and need to be replaced.” Nov 15, 2007 by

“Overall, food was pretty good. Mainly Italian fare with some house twists. Waiters are friendly, but had to wait awhile for our food. The decor is a little tacky; sometimes it's better to be subtle versus overdoing it. The chairs had wear spots in the upholstery and some were even torn. .” Oct 1, 2007 by

“We had to wait an hour the food was good and prices reasonable. The wait would've been better if we didn't have a rude, arrogant (female) bartender that didnt know how to make a drink serve us.” 1 of 1 people found this review helpful.Restaurant Representatives:
