“On a recent visit to Rosemont for a convention in town, my husband and I grabbed a taxi and asked the driver to take us to an Italian restaurant that we had in mind. The driver told us to forget about that restaurant and urged us to try out a place called Basilico. He told us that if he took us there and we didn't like the food that he would give us a ride back after the meal for free! Upon arrival we were warmly greeted by a young, handsome gentleman who was all smiles. We later learned that he was the recent new owner of the restaurant. The rest of the staff was just as warm and friendly and very professional. Our waiter was quick to take care of us and even helped make selections by presenting the specials of the day. The food was absolutely amazing like no other Italian restaurant I have ever been to. The restaurant itself is set in a very romantic old world style with a ceiling covered in what seems like hundreds of oil paintings from different artists. The tables are all dressed up in elegant white tablecloths and lit with candles. It is extremely romantic and comfortable. To top it all off, the prices were extremely reasonable, much cheaper than the restaurant was originally heading to. Thanks to the friendly suggestion from our cab driver. He never ended up having to give us the free ride back.” 1 of 1 people found this review helpful.May 8, 2007 by

“Have dined at most of Chicago-area Italian spots, and for last 20 yrs. This remains my absolute favorite! The best calamari fritter anywhere, top shelf bread and olive oil, very good salads/dressings. Entree quality, portion sizes and pricing cannot be beat. Authentic Italian, just as the owner's family has preserved it for decades. Have many favorite entrees of mine here, probably most notable for me is the shrimp with vodka sauce / pasta. Relatively intimate dining, with unpretentious atmosphere that is inviting to the 'stars' as well as families.” 3 of 3 people found this review helpful.Restaurant Representatives:
