“I've lived in the area for 10+ years and Luna's is my favorite. The Luna Lava is to die for if you like spicy! Portions are out of control, but it makes you feel like you got your money's worth. The only negative is that there never seems to be enough wait staff and they only take cash. Some times the wait time for a table, even with reservations, can be in excess of an hour. But, usually it's worth the wait. You'll love the food! Just remember to stop at the ATM on the way and don't take your credit card. They have another location off the island on 41 across from Walmart. Smaller place, but equally good food.” Jun 15, 2009 by

“Fantastic in every way. I've heard about if for a long time and just went for my first time. It was all I was told and more. If you like spicy, have some Luna Lava (It is terrific!)” Feb 27, 2009 by

“Great Italian Restaurant. We are in Italy 3-4 times a year and know Italian food. The price of the food and the amount, A+. People that say it is not that good are completely wrong. Just look at the wait and the people wanting to get in, and how long they have been in business over 16 years. Keep up the good work, the area loves Luna's!” May 26, 2008 by

“This is one of the best Italian restaurants in Florida. My family is Italian (real Italian - Sicily and Corletto) and we have eaten in Italy and many great Italian restaurants in New York and other top locations. Luna's is one of the best, we have ever been to. Try it yourself and see if you don't agree. Luna's is great! And by the way, huge portions at a reasonable price is not a bad thing.” 1 of 1 people found this review helpful.Apr 5, 2008 by

“We have been going there for 5 yrs now and it is by far the best restaurant we have eaten at in Fl. The service has always been great and the food fabulous. We just came back and ate out the whole week with our two cousins and we all agreed it was our best dinner. Maybe some people rather pay for atmosphere rather than great tasting food. We like good food.” Jan 13, 2008 by

“Too large portions of very mediocre food. The staff is very lax with poor service provide and even after a few complaints to management-no improvement-we stopped going altogether and would not recommend this as a good Italian eatery.” 0 of 1 people found this review helpful.Nov 10, 2007 by

“This was, by far, the worst dining experience I have had in Venice, fl. The atmosphere was great it was downhill from then on. Five of us ordered a meal maybe someone should have explained it was family dining? We had enough food left over to feed everyone for a month, and my entree wasn't worth taking home. When separate checks arrive, we were informed they did not take credit/debit cards didn't we see that on the front of the menu? Personally, I don't read the cover of a menu; I dive right in to the food selection. So, everyone made a mad dash across the street to the ATM's location the server kindly pointed out to us. We packed the food into plastic bags, loaded everything into the stroller and then carried our toddler back to our rental home. And, of course, all the excessive grease from the food leaked out on the stroller not good as a consumer, I would suggest being more informed than we were. Buyers beware.” 0 of 1 people found this review helpful.Jul 30, 2007 by

“I had a great first experience at Luna's. I went back recently, and the server was so rude that I left before I ordered my food. I don't know if I will ever go back now. It is a shame because the food is great.” 1 of 1 people found this review helpful.Jul 17, 2007 by

“The only good thing was the tapanade. The home made Italian salad dressing was not bad. The wait staff is overly familiar, loud, rude, and slovenly and tears around in sweaty tee shirts and denim shorts. Drinks come in plastic cups. The silverware is the cheapest flatware imaginable. There is no place to wait for a table except the bar which has four chairs. Then you have to stand in a corner while the wait staff runs back and forth in front of you. The food is heavy, over seasoned and comes in ridiculously large amounts. Some people think they are getting a bargain when they receive large amounts of mediocre food. The veal picatta was greasy, salty and had none of the delicate flavor it should. The shrimp Mediterranean was just garlic flavored, nothing else came through. If you want a good Italian meal, drive to one of the smaller restaurants in Burn Court, or other parts of Sarasota. You'll spend the same amount of money, but the food is far superior. If you are buying food by the pound and believe that baseball posters are atmosphere, Luna is for you.” 0 of 1 people found this review helpful.May 11, 2007 by

“In every regard, Luna's is the best New York Italian restaurant I have ever found. We drive 80 miles to enjoy the fabulous pasta, pizza, and sandwiches. The servings are humongous. We order one menu item for every two people, and still take home enough to eat once or twice again. Everything I have had (pastas, sandwiches, pizza) has been first class and delicious. The walls and ceiling are covered with autographed NYC sports and entertainment memorabilia. It is fun to walk around and check it all out while waiting for your food. Every table is started out with Italian bread and "lava", which is a hot, olive concoction to dip or spread. I always take a jar home. $50 for two people including drinks and tips and you will eat three times, wonderful NYC Italian food. Luna' sis absolutely the best anywhere. A day at Venice beach topped off with a casual dinner at Luna's (I have gone there in trunks, flip-flops, and a T-shirt) is a great day.” Oct 27, 2006 by

“While vacationing during March of 06 we were made aware of Lunas. What a find. We took our order for 3 people back to our place on Manasota Key and ate for 3 days. Great food, great atmosphere, great pricing. We will be back for sure.” 1 of 1 people found this review helpful.Mar 4, 2006 by

“My husband and I always go to Luna's for every special occasion. I am of Italian heritage and love capitally with Mario spicy sausage tomato sauce. My husband loves lasagna. We both get what we love and bring home enough for three more meals each. The orders are huge!. The Italian bread is the best anywhere, including my father's homemade Italian bread. We spend only about $50.00 for all this including beverages and tip. I highly recommend Luna's as my favorite Italian restaurant anywhere.” 3 of 3 people found this review helpful.Restaurant Representatives:
