“We rode our local commuter rail service down from Albuquerque, and picked this restaurant, actually called Chelsea Freeze, for lunch. The young man who prepared our bacon cheese burgers and fries was very polite and did a good job. Unfortunately, later in our visit, he left, and was replaced by other people, apparently the owners (we assumed, since they went behind the counter and prepared their own food). When I asked for the restroom, the woman told me, in a rather unfriendly tone, "Oh, they're not working very well, sorry" and was no help in suggesting where we could find restrooms that were working very well. Also, there was no air conditioning, and it was at least 85 degrees outside, hotter inside. All in all, this was one of several incidents that day which implied that the town of Belen is not particularly welcoming to outsiders.”
