• Nothing.
• Everything.

“As out of town travelers we had heard of Port A and the amazing seafood. Well it was not to be found here. On arrival there were two teenage girls sitting with feet up in the air and smacking gum - was a major effort to show us to the table. The menu well, the less said the better, what with those prices and the rubbish we were served - I will add I have been on a hunt for frozen crab cakes that could possibly compare to those. Please do not waste your money going to eat there! We have told all our friends visiting not to eat there.”

• Wait time for our food.

“This was my first time traveling to Port Aransas, and we overheard someone at the hotel mention this place. The food was great and the atmosphere was too. They had a great selection of fish and shrimp dishes. My husband had the Mahi-mahi and he really loved it! I will definitely visit again.”

• The Seafood was fresh at fair price.
• Service should be better slightly.

“A castaway was good food at a good price; there are a variety of menu items for all pocketbooks and all tastes. Seafood is fresh catch and includes soft-shell crab. Service serving girls, not by experienced waitpersons (acceptable though). Salad bar was unexpectedly refreshing; onion rings were generic.”

• Great staff, owner, and of course the food is great.
• Noisy.

“One of the best places to eat at while in town, not what you would expect by looking at the outside and inside the building, It is loud in the restaurant, that's because it is packed from 5 to 9. My wife and I have brought large crowds to this restaurant and the service and the food was excellent.”

• The food and service is fantastic.
• The atmosphere is blah.

“Shells should not be described as an Italian restaurant. They do have a nice pasta menu of specialty pastas, but they also have a daily board menu featuring perfectly prepared seafood dishes as well as other main course items. Their sauces are fantastic and the side dishes served are delectable. The desserts are definitely 'to go' items for us because they are too delicious to turn down even if we did not save room for them at the time. We have been patronizing Shells for years and never eat anywhere else on the island.”

• The acoustics is loud inside the restaurant.

“I was pleasantly surprised at how affordable the enters were. We sat on the porch and the atmosphere was wonderful with the palm trees and the breeze. The restaurant was willing to work with me on special requests so I could stick to my diet.”

• Quest, drinks, enchiladas. All great.
• Popular place at times! We just have to have a margarita and wait a bit!

“We are never disappointed when we have a meal at la playa. We always have intentions of dining there for a few of our meals while in town. Very good, reasonably priced, warm and welcoming. Go there! You will be pleased as our family is.”

• Great food, great service, open seating.
• Little expensive, closed on Sundays.

“We love this place! We have been at least 6 times and have never had a bad experience. Our food has always been unique, flavorful and well presented. Our wait staff has been knowledgeable and friendly and accommodating. We love the menu; wish the wine list was a little longer though. The menu is a little pricey for the portions, but that just means we can't go as often as we would like. As for the previous review - the restaurant is very small and a lot of people do not realize that when you make a reservation, your table can only be held for a certain length of time so that the table can be re-sat again - so please don't linger too long and then get offended when you are asked to allow the table to be used for the next reservation - these little family owned places have to turn tables or they will not be able to stay in business. If you are finished and want to visit or linger over drinks - sit in the bar and let the business owners serve more dinners.”

• All food should look and taste this good.
• I need more time to sample all the margaritas.

“From the appetizers to the desert the food was fabulous. The presentation of the food made me feel that I was in a special place. It looked so good that I just had to enjoy the way it looked for a moment before I ate. I didn't even know that there were so many types of margaritas. My pleasant dining experience seemed to be common as evidenced by the numerous regulars. It seemed the manager knew them all.”

• We have never been asked to rush our dining to accommodate others.

“although the food and atmosphere were excellent and came highly recommended by many friends of ours, our experience was greatly ruined on our first and only trip with guests to this establishment. Our evening started with our waiter insulting our guest's place of employment( he apparently has some issues with the Budweiser company). Our guest was very gracious and never let on that he was a representative of Budweiser Distribution. After indulging in appetizers, several bottles of wines and drinks, enjoying a most delicious meal and desserts, while we were finishing up our drinks, the hostess came over and informed us that if we had finished with our meal, could we please leave because others were waiting for our table. we were a little taken aback by this request but decided not to make an issue out of it at the time. We also noted that there were some customers that were still there and they had arrived before we had. This incident really soured what had been an incredibly wonderful evening of great food and good atmosphere especially since we have looked up your review and you state that you provide leisurely dining. Hope you can improve on this.”

• The food is excellent and the atmosphere is a change of pace.
• Not really expensive, but it's a little pricey.

“This restaurant has good service and a different atmosphere. The second floor is a dome and has kites on the ceiling. The outside looks kind of like a soccer ball. The food here is very good and flavorful. Excellent seafood dishes and a large salad bar comes with the entrees. This restaurant can get a little pricey, but I definitely recommend it. YUM!”

• AMAZING FOOD!
• Small Restaurant With Limited Seating

“This is my favorite restaurant around. I come back just to eat here. It is a cute little restaurant with friendly service. There is a variety of pasta, seafood, and more. Everything is really amazing. The salads, tuna tacos, fish sandwich, rigatoni pollo, capellini pomodoro, farfalle alfredo, conchigli gorgonzola, and the fresh and garlic breads are all excellent. I have yet to find something that I didn't love. This comes very highly recommended if you like outstanding food at fair prices.”

• Great live music while waiting.
• Very crowded.

“I wasn't looking forward to the 35 minute wait, but great live music made it enjoyable. The food was good (especially the guacamole!) but it was very crowded and the atmosphere was very loud. Overall, it was a nice experience. ”

• Shells has the potential, with the right management to be a Great cozy and romantic Dining Establishment.
• Bad service & mediocre food Shells @ Port Aransas has both!!!

“We arrived during the holiday dinner rush and were met by a frown and an attitude. I asked for 2 glasses of wine while we waited for our table (20mins) was not too much to ask for. I was told, "It will be a while before I can get to your wine." is what I was told. The wine arrived just after we were seated. They were out of the baked stuffed blue crab appetizer which was #1 on the Appetizer list. We chose option #2, the lobster salad, which border lined on tuna salad on toast. The healthy spinach pasta was tasteless except for the smoked chicken, which was terrible. We pushed that "full" and barely touched bowl of pasta and smoked chicken to the other side of the table, and the waitress never even asked if we were satisfied and just took it away without a peep. I had the Spaghetti w/beef and pork meatballs from the specials board, and it was as "ordinary" as a jar of Prego and noodles. All of the wait staff seemed edgy and inattentive. We thought, maybe it's just us, so we looked around and noted many others that seemed to be unpleased and just ready to go. My wife and I, on our 1-year wedding anniversary, left completely disappointed and will not return. By the way, Pelican Landing, the night before, was 10 times as crowded and managed to wow us.”

• We loved everything about the Crazy Cajun! Fun atmosphere, great food, great service!
• It's too far from home to enjoy more often!

“We tried some of almost everything on the menu during our recent 10 day stay, and it was the best! The ribs were more tender and flavorful than any we have locally. The sauce is served on the side and is perfectly seasoned. The hot bread with butter is just like home-made. All the seafood is wonderful! The service was fast and friendly! We will do it again next year only more often. A great value for the money!”

• The food is wonderful.
• Not the best atmosphere, but it is a beach area. So, who cares.
