I Fratellis Italian Restaurant
Jun 19, 2009 by Treasa from Irving

Overall Rating: 3 User Rating Score: 3
Food:[6] • Service:[1] • Atmosphere:[6]

  • I liked the waiter.
  • Unfriendliness.

“I had a bad experience at I Fratelli's in Irving. My daughter, I was seated and even after 11 minutes we did not have a waiter come to us for drinks or food. Finally my daughter walked up to a waitress and asked her if we could get some help. In an unfriendly way, she said that I will let your waiter know and walked away. Another five minutes elapsed before the waiter came to us. We told him what happened and he apologized to us. Randomly the manager walked up to us and asked us was everything okay and we told him what had happened. He told us, let me do some investigation and come back to you. He further said that this cannot happen in his shift and walked away. We never saw him again. We paid and left with a bad taste after another fifteen minutes.”

Cafe Cipriani
Aug 31, 2008 by Chuck from Las Colinas TX

Overall Rating: 1 User Rating Score: 1

  • Managers advise: do not return.
  • Everything.

“The service was horrible. The waiter actively avoided our table. He would walk around us to get to the table next to us. Our drinks were never refreshed, and when our food came out, the bus boy brought it to us, not to mention it was cold (not kidding). At the end of dinner, we asked for the manager and he was belligerent with us when we mentioned the inept waiter and suggested we not return. That was probably the best thing in the restaurant, his advise!”

Cool River Cafe
Dec 29, 2007 by Bill from Kansas City

Overall Rating: 9 User Rating Score: 9
Food:[9] • Service:[7] • Atmosphere:[10]

  • Great entertaining atmosphere with excellent food!
  • Need heaters outside while you wait for valet to get your car.

“I travel and entertain clients through out the US. This place has to be the best one stop establishment to entertain that I have ever experienced. We started with drinks at the bar and indulged in a little hockey on one of the big screens. We went to the dining room to find our table set up for an excellent dining experience. The absolute shrimp cocktail, calamari and Ahi tuna appetizer platter was a nice combination for our party of 10. A couple of the guys ordered excellent Australian lobster tails. The 20oz cowboy ribeye with fried onion rings was great and cooked exactly as ordered. I've had as good a steak in other restaurants, but I would come back for the six cheese scalloped potatoes! They were outstanding! Next trip Ill have to try the steak Oscar. My partner could not stop raving about it the rest of the night. We split a maker's mark bread pudding and a 7 layer chocolate cake for dessert and went to the cigar room for stogies and after dinner cocktails. A couple of the guys played pool while we relaxed in the cigar room. Being so close to the airport and our hotel, it was easy to choose this restaurant to entertain. We will definitely be back! .”

Cafe Cipriani Inc
Oct 7, 2007 by Samantha from Denton Texas

Overall Rating: 1 User Rating Score: 1
Food:[1] • Service:[1] • Atmosphere:[4]

  • Atmosphere is somewhat romantic.
  • Everything about it was negative.

“My boyfriend and I live in Irving and go out to dinner now about once a week. We love the area that this restaurant is in. We got there and were greeted and seated downstairs. The ambiance seems quaint, but the service was horrible. Our waiter greeted us finally about 10 15 minutes after we sat down. Then once we sat he did not even ask us if we wanted anything to drink. I asked for a drink menu finally about another 10 minutes later and he came with one. Then he returned and took our drink order finally. He came back another 10 minutes later gave us our drinks and then took our order. The food looked good at everyones table, but mine was awful and it was what he suggested after I asked him to suggest something. He did not tell us if salad was included or anything. We get our food another 15 minutes later and he never checks on us again. I did not even like my meal. My boyfriends meal was pretty good, but mine was awful and came with rice instead of noodles. We then had another server come over and ask if we wanted dessert. I said I wanted soufflé and he said it takes 30 minutes to make. I was never told about this either and told the waiter we were new here initially. Our dessert was good but the manager came over and was very rude and did not make us feel like invited again. The manager actually said, "sorry about your experience this is his first complainant tonight but if you do not like you can just not come back." we thought wow, we obviously won't. After $70.00 tab and not feeling reassured from the manager we thought do not waste your money or ever eat here.”

Champps Americana
Jul 14, 2007 by Ryan from Irving

Overall Rating: 3 User Rating Score: 3
Food:[5] • Service:[3] • Atmosphere:[5]

  • The bartender, he is the one that, deserves to be manager.
  • The young, inexperienced, doesn't quite get it, manager.

“Well everything went well until I received my check which I thought had an error on it. I ordered a Philly (I ordered a 32 oz beer also but that ended up being ok) at the bar and the price is $8.99 for the sandwich and I saw it was a dollar to add onion rings, so I did. So the bill should have read $9.99, but instead it read $10.99. No big deal, they made a mistake, I will ask them about it. I asked the bartender and his reply was that it is $2 for sandwiches and $1 for burgers to add onion rings; this made no logical sense to me. He decided because he wasn't sure, to go get a manager and I explained the situation. Now remember, everything was OK until this stupid manager showed up with his stupid power trip. He accused me of trying to rip them off! He said it was only a dollar. I asked him where it said it is $2 to substitute? He couldn't answer. I asked him why sandwiches were $2 dollar substitutes when burgers were $1. He said it was because they came with chips. I pointed out a few sandwiches that had fries standard and asked if it would only have been $1 to substitute for onion rings. He looked at me blankly because I caught him lying to me, and then he said probably. He then proceeded to say, well that's the way it is and it is only a dollar. And I said you are right it's only a dollar, and because I'm the "bad ole customer" I will walk out of here, never come back, and take your poor ole (good) bartenders tip with me, all because of a misunderstanding about a frickin' dollar. I wine and dine customers, and will never ever bring a customer here or ever go back just because the principle of the matter was so ridiculous, that I was in awe. (This is the first time I have ever complained about any restaurant service, from McDonald's to a fancy caviar place) The manager was just young and stupid the way he handled me, the customer. I was fine until he came along on July 14, at 7:45 pm 2007.”

Via Real
Mar 13, 2007 by Laura

Overall Rating: 10 User Rating Score: 10
Food:[10] • Service:[10] • Atmosphere:[10]

  • Friendly neighborhood eatery meets upscale restaurant.
  • The margaritas, although delicious, are a tad on the expensive side.

“My fiance and I love it. We are treated like royalty. From the complimentary valet who knows us by Name after only a couple of visits to the friendly staff who will do what they can to make sure you have a pleasant experience, via real is my pick for a romantic evening or even a casual weeknight out. Try the tamales!”

Cool River Cafe
Aug 19, 2006 by John from Bedford

Overall Rating: 1 User Rating Score: 1
Food:[2] • Service:[5] • Atmosphere:[7]

  • Tomato & Mozzarella Salad.
  • Price, Food Quality, Jerk Bouncer.

“Nice looking place and obviously very popular with the credit card collections crowd. But the food was terrible and outrageously priced! The Jim Bean Rib Eye tasted like it was soaked in paint thinner, not whisky. Although cooked well, it was no where near the 14 oz size advertised. The Six cheese potatoes were covered in some spice that was so overpowering you could not taste the cheese or potatoes. They might as well have come from a box and been made with Velveeta. The wedge salad was just a wedge of ice burg lettuce with trace amounts of blue cheese dressing. No walnuts, no blue cheese crumbles. The shrimp, although not small, were far from the prawns we expected. The bacon wrapped shrimp came covered in a sauce that made them taste like burning electronics smell. The spice on the mushrooms was so heavy that it overpowered the flavor of the mushrooms. They might as well have been flavored Styrofoam. The wait staff was good, but the bouncer that wanted to charge me $5 to use the restroom can kiss my butt. After I raised a stink he said "I am sorry I did not recognize you from the restaurant" Yeah Right Jerk. The two positive notes, the beer was excellent ($6.00 a glass!!!) and the Tomato and mozzarella salad was pretty good. All in all, I left there feeling as though I had been ripped off. I had a golden corral quality dinner for an astronomical price. I will never be back and I will advise all those I know to avoid this restaurant. The food at the Boston market up the street is far better!”

  • Well-mannered service, hot tasty food, comfortable, great pizza
  • Busy at lunch, busy at dinner

“.It is family owned and a great family value. There Sunday Buffet was well done for a cheap price, but people come from all over for the basics. Pizza, Lasagna, Wine, and Pasta. Everything tastes fresh and home made. Frozen Bellini's are the best I've had, and Frozen Lemoncello? very nice. My wife loves the tiramisu. The secret is out because it is busy but the tables turn fast.”
