“This place is wonderful. The food is great and they have desserts that are to die for. We sat outside and watched people stroll by as well as the beach view. There lots of motorcycles there which I thought was really neat. Many motorcycles where parked out front so I just had to check them out. It was a blast and I recommend The Spot be added to your must visit restaurant.”

“The food was all tasty and especially the Gumbo, which has spicy sausage and a lot of salt in it, so it's not for everyone but tasted great to this Cajun gal.”

“Great food; pretty good service except for our hostess. Kind of rude; not so clean looking glassware and silverware. Better quality silverware needed to match atmosphere. Other than that, I would certainly go back for the food.”

“Found a hair cooked in our pancakes. Service was horrible. Food tasted like ihop. Kid's pancakes did not look any where near as cool, so kids were disappointed. Very busy place with a wait every morning.”

“I went to Gaido's this past Friday night and I must say it was the best restaurant experience I've had in years. The wait staff was attentive, courteous, and professional. The food was amazing and the restaurant was very clean. I recommend it to anyone traveling to Galveston. I have no bad words to describe this place. In a word, it was superb!”

“Our party of six order a wide variety of foods. Reactions by meal order are: Country Fried Steak dinner was rated good. Club Sandwich basket was rated good Flounder platter rated dismal, fish did not taste at all like flounder, was dry, overcooked and horrible. Fisherman platter with fish and shrimp and gumbo. Fish was tasteless and dry, shrimp was ok, gumbo was good. Catfish platter rated poor. Fish same as other, dry, tasteless. Shrimp 16, shrimp was ok. Tartar sauce was found offensive by all. Red sauce (cocktail sauce for fish) tasted like ketchup with a few dull spices added in. Okra was chewy and tough, Poorly prepared. Waitress tried very hard, but service was only fair. Took an hour after sitting down to get meals on table. OH yeah, the French fries were really good, so if you don't mind paying for sandwiches and fries you will love this place. We did not! And yes we are experts on seafood having eaten it in dozens of seafood restaurants for 50 years. Pros: Our party of six order a wide variety of foods. “The food is pricey but very good and the portions are not large, if you get a good waiter the service is outstanding. I think the attention the owner gives to regulars is understandable, but perhaps not business wise as many will not come back since they are totally ignored. Pico needs to realize this and at least make at least eye contact or wave to all guests who watch him parade around the restaurant to the same regulars and totally ignore them. We will probably be back and hope for a more attentive waiter next time we dine there.”

“Get you some fish shrimp platter with some grilled taters. Maybe a slice of garlic bread. Yes.”

“The staff isnt well trained. The managers are on a power trip. Better food can be found at long john silvers. Last but not least- the beer isn't cold and tastes like sea water (all of it). Do not make a special trip to go to this Joe's Crab Shack if any at all.”

“Wow, I would recommend this restaurant to anyone. The food is amazing, the service was great, and it's right on Seawall Blvd, so you can look out to the beach while dining. I've been in Galveston for a week, and wish I'd found this restaurant when I'd first gotten here. The grilled shrimp is to die for, and you've got to try the fried okra with a side of ranch dressing!”

“A Mexican travel writer on an assignment to Galveston. Invited to this Latin food place. Not many expectative but after two hours, completely pleased. Authentic flavors and excellent service. Good intentions, well supervised and traditional.”

“Leigh's is authentic Italian food served fresh. The bread and dipping sauce is to die for. If you know good Italian food this is the place for you. If your palette is raised on olive garden you might not like this place. I have brought friends and family from new York who can't wait to eat there again. As good as any restaurant on mulberry street...”

“I have had such wonderful experiences when Iżve visited clary's in the past; the sauveur review proves that this can be a fantastic restaurant. So I proudly took some out of town family there for a special dinner. This visit was frankly awful. We waited for perhaps ten minutes to be seated despite the fact that there were only four tables of people in the entire place. What the two waiters and bartenders were doing, Iżm not sure; we saw the waiters only rarely. We waited 25 minutes to get menus. The plate in front of me was cracked and dirty and it took about 20 minutes to get a clean one. One of my dinner companions was very hungry and asked for a salad as soon as she saw the waiter, but it took over a half hour to get it. Some of the food was stone cold when it got there, including the lyonnaise potatoes, which I hadn't wanted. The crab balls were good, as always, as were the green beans and the Italian & house salad dressings, but that's about all. The shrimp appetizer even had an off flavor. Mr. Clary didn't seem to be there, there was no service or hospitality at all and the food was generally iffy. It was like a really bad diner. I was so embarrassed at having taken my family members to one of the "best seafood restaurants" in the Houston area. They were puzzled and extremely disappointed, to say the least. Is this place only good when Mr. Clary himself is present? I don't think I will take the chance by taking someone I care about there in the future. It was one of the worst meals of my life, both because of the food and the total lack of service.”

“This restaurant has some of the best food at very down to earth prices. The food servers for the most part were outstanding. We found millers landing while staying at a nearby hotel prior to our cruise. Always refilled your coffee (sign of a good server) without having to hunt for someone. We ended up eating there almost exclusively. Breakfast, some lunches and dinners. We eat out a lot and know good food and service when we see it. Just a down to earth good restaurant. Wish we could bring them back here.”

“We were greeted by a somewhat "short tempered" young woman. We asked if there were any tables available by the window. She abruptly said "no, and probably not for another 30 minutes or more". We then made the decision to just have a seat at the bar, eat our meal, and get out. That was a poor decision. The bartender was slow, overworked, and acted as though she would much rather be any place but there. It took at least 20 minutes to get our drinks, not to mention a menu. That should have been the point that we paid out and left. But, we decided to stay and just get the meal over with. After a long wait for her to just take the order, and even longer to get our meal, we were so terribly disappointed with the food that we shall never go back. The manager that evening was in attendance, actually behind the bar at times. He was for the most part useless to the staff as well as the customers.”

“Their nachos are terrible! They pickle their jalapeños and banana peppers. The next thing you know, they will be serving pizza with ketchup on it. They need to stick to hamburgers. The cashier shortchanged me, so I had to ask him for the dollar that he owed me.”

“Really, to stretch your travel dollar, pick up a picnic lunch for the beach at the grocery store. The Arlan's Market on Market Street is right next to UTMB medical center and it's associated clinics and offices. They carry an amazing supply of nearly anything a desperate student, unexpected patient or worried family member might need. "The locals shop here" Usually identified as the shoppers on bicycle and pedestrians, some who don't own a car and some who have discovered it's easier to hoof it on an island! The management and staff are willing to help and are always courteous.”

“Bennos is a restaurant for the very casual diner and is family friendly. It is not uncommon for people to come in after a day at the beach. After placing your order at the counter, you find a seat either inside or outside at the picnic tables overlooking the Galveston Seawall. I recommend the grilled seafood platter; a wonderful mix of Cajun & blackened spices. The portions will not leave you hungry. This is a great place to go for good food after a day of sightseeing at The Strand District or the beach. The prices won't break the bank either; sandwiches and platters from $7 - $12. A great way to have the casual beach atmosphere and good food at the same time.”

“I ordered an oyster entree and it was spectacular. The best I've ever had. My husband ordered fish and it was really fresh and tasty. Our waiter, Mack, was very friendly and did a good job anticipating our needs. Even though we had to wait almost 30 minutes for a table, it was worth it. We will be back.”

“The restaurant is in what appears to be another home on the street, so you have to look closely for signs. Regarded by many locals to be the most authentic and the best Mexican food in Galveston, hands down. Generous portions and very good cuisine. If you like real Mexican food with a Tex Mex flare, this is the place for you.”

“Real authentic atmosphere. Prices are reasonable. One of the few places that offers Queso Flameado. Yummy! Pretty good margaritas.”
