“It is not a run of the mill plastic franchise; it is an authentic ft. worth TX restaurant, food, atmosphere service/ hospitality and all, and to top it off for small groups of business meetings ask about the special isolated small private areas, and adjoining it is a saloon with Karaoke singing on special days for the fun of it with a dancing floor to boot!”

“We had not been to Rig, in a few years. The steak for 2 was no longer on the menu which was disappointing. We ordered the Rib Eye, with baked potato If we like the food we tip the cook he got a tip The steak was cooked exactly as ask, the baked potato was soft and was not hard anywhere, you can eat skin and all. The butter was not likely a good brand but was OK and the salad bar was very decent. I had unsweetened tea and the wife had sweet. Now maybe because of the time, we are not sure. She gave us a big glass filled and then she delivered two big pitchers of tea and left them on the table one of each. A couple of times she would come over and fill our glasses and came back several times just to check on us.”

“This restaurant's client is mostly well and old. It felt like a nursing home, the color of the place was drab and the plates you get your food served on looked as if they had been borrowed by the nearby hospital.”

“Cheap, average, blue collar restaurant that has not changed in 30 years. Steaks are so-so and the Talapia was better than expected. The baked potato served needed to be sent back as it dried out beyond help. The salad bar is full, basic salad fixings and it looses points for using imitation cheese and fake bacon bits. If you are looking for a cheap meal, with average quality, and you want quantity over quality, then The Rig is for you.”

“We will never go back! The problem? We waited for our table for 1 hour and 20 min. Then, we had to wait for our chef for another hour before even getting drinks. There was not enough food served! We got home after midnight (came straight home from restaurant) and were hungry. To be such an upscale restaurant, you'd think it would be run more efficient. There was no more than 10 staff and they did the best they could, it seemed. Keep it up and no one will ever want to go there again. Trust me, people, don't go unless you want to end up mad, disappointed and broke, not to mention, still hungry! Awful experience!”

“The arrogance and pretentiousness of the owner made our dining experience truly unpleasant. The final straw came as were were finishing our coffee and dessert. He stood next to our table and repeatedly looked at his watch, clearly signaling that he wanted to re-use the table - even though there were no customers waiting to be seated. We were nicely dressed after coming from Bass Hall, talking quietly among ourselves, and had only been there about an hour and 10 minutes. We will never return.”

“They had the front door open to air out the place instead of using the AC. It was chilly out so I asked him to close the door. The food was just ok. It didnt seem fresh, it tasted like frozen food fried out of a bag. Probably wont be going there again. The wine was good though.”

“I have eaten at this particular location more than a few times, especially as how I lived down the street for many years. The food was usually pretty good, except for the last burger I got. I got one regular hamburger with avocado, which actually tasted pretty good. Where the problem comes in is that after 30 or 40 minutes of eating the hamburger I started to feel atrocious! Absolutely wretched!”

“JJ Dakota's is a well established full service bar. They have most everything from beer (draft, bottle & import) to mixed drinks and shots. The bartenders are knowledgeable about new and different types of drinks and are able to make a suggestion based upon your tastes. All of the staff are very friendly and helpful. I have experienced prompt service even when the bar was very busy. Prices are fair and reasonable.I sometimes play pool for fun on one of the nurmerous billiard tables, including coin operated, standard eight foot and nine foot tournament tables. I know they also have pool tournaments, but I am unsure if it is eight-ball or nine-ball. Although I do not play, JJ Dakota's has several foot-ball tables and soft tip dart boards. They hold weekly tournaments for both darts and foos-ball.There is also a full length shuffleboard table and video games, including a Golden Tee golf game.My multiple visits to JJ Dakota's have always been enjoyable, if not down right fun and even a little exciting. The patron's at the bar are friendly and it is easy to strike up a conversation with most anyone there. Which made things easier when I went to JJ Dakota's for the first time.”

“Service was slow, but food was decent. Also they charged us for refills on soft drinks so I ended up paying $15 for 3 sodas and a tea. May be doing this to recoup money lost on coupon used.”

“The overall atmosphere. The service is impeccable and the food is outstanding. The family makes you feel like you are part of their family. We often celebrate our birthdays and special occasions here. I would recommend this place highly. Also Thursdays are 1/2 price wine night.”

“AWESOME food. Lobster bisque, made from scratch fettuccini with smoked chicken in delicidant alfredo sauce. Looked around and wanted plant my lips around the sensory hitting burgers being served as well as the mammoth chicken fried steak. Cannot wait to return and recommend others to try this "hidden" palace of tongue tingling delights! Superb food at a great price!”

“Alonti Cafe is in the building where I work. It's convenient and would normally keep me from having to bring a home made lunch to work. Although a bit pricey, I assume the price is for the convenience of its location more than for the quality of the food offered. I consider it to be relatively "average" in its cafeteria-type cuisine and atmosphere. Over the last year or so, however, prices have gone up and sizes of portions reduced. And for some reason now, every soup offered is spiced so hot that it distorts flavor and irritates the palate. I have no idea why the gentlest of soups, e.g., Italian wedding and vegetable soups, have to be so "hot" with spices that it becomes aggravating. There are other spiced dishes available (and usually a hot chili is offered along with a soup of the day) and even those are usually over-spiced, but soups should be a "peaceful" alternative to those who don't want their taste buds catching on fire. Now even soups aren't safe. I believe that home made lunches are going to win out now. Or I'll just walk across the street to Subway. I'm really disappointed that I can't even get a small cup of hot ("from heat") soup to comfort and soothe on a chilly day. What few taste buds have survived will have to find comfort elsewhere, I'm afraid.”

“We were greeted poorly as we entered. After being seated though, we thought this place looks great, and were anticipating a wonderful meal. Our waitress was so soft spoken that we neither hear her nor understand her. When the bread finally came, we were disappointed. No flavor at all. It looked like garlic bread, but it was just buttered. The salads arrived and they were great! Then our meals came. All four of our meals had no flavor at all. Thank goodness for a salt shaker. The scampi wasn't bad, just cold, and no flavor. Some kind of strange pepper thing came with it stuffed with what looked like refried beans, but tasted like pureed olives. Not good. The chicken had skin and bones still attached. The fettichini was as bland as a napkin, same with the lasagna. When asked to speak to a manager, an assistant came. We couldn't understand him either and he asked us if we had been here before. Not sure what that was supposed to mean. He said he would tell the chef and gave us our check. It was not a good experience at all.”

“The best brunch ever! Great sweet potato chips, great hot sauce's) - they bring you two different kinds. Good crab cakes. It seems like they have changed the recipe on some items - not as good as they used to be. The one in Fort Worth is not very clean.”

“Great beef and chicken fajitas, especially chicken. Nice, light, crispy chips. Their regular hot sauce is rather bland, but their green hot sauce rocks. Stay away from the enchiladas - cheese enchiladas with Queso cold and bland; cheese enchiladas with chili sauce also bland. The service was very slow.”

“When my husband and I want Mexican food, this is where we go. The food is great and reasonably priced. We have had nothing but great service there. The Queso is the best I've ever tasted. The salsa is so good that I buy a pint of it to take home.”

“I've been coming to this Hofbrau since we moved to Fort Worth in 1998. We have a group that plays tennis from 9-12 every Saturday, then we head over to the 'brau". Except for a couple of years when it was closed after a fire, our group has been very regular. We have always enjoyed the excellent service, great food and comfortable surroundings. Once or twice a month, my wife and I go to the Hofbrau for dinner and sometimes we have to wait 15-30 minutes, but overall, I don't think the wait is unreasonable or any worse than for comparable restaurants at that time in Ft. Worth. Be sure to take advantage of the courtesy cards that are available. Each time you dine at Hofbrau, they sign off and after 8 visits, you earn a free enter' up to $12. Over the years, I and my tennis partners have turned in scores of these cards. I also wanted to mention that the wait staff is excellent. We have seen the same waitresses there for years, which tells me the management must be fairly tolerable for the workers. Enjoy!”

“Building is a little run down, in a part of town that is a little run down. But, the food is great. It's your typical hibachi grill; show off chef cooks your meal right in front of you. The meats and seafood¿s are good, the fried rice is awesome. Be sure to check the star-telegram for buy one-get one free entrees, makes it much more affordable.”

“This is a great place to come for great authentic tax max cuisine. The servings are the food and not some decorative plate with food underneath, the food is what looks good on the plate at polio¿s. It is hard to choose what to eat because the simple enchilada plates are as good as the fancier fajita plates, at a price that is real reasonable for the food portions of each plate. Great customer services from the moment you walk in the door. I would highly recommend this for families, business meetings, that simple but good dinner outing for two and definitely for that out of Towner wanting to experience the real tax max cuisine.”

“This is just a small place but it serves the best hamburgers & REAL French fries I have ever ate. They are always busy so it may take a while but it is fun to watch the cook & his helpers moving like light speed to get the burgers & those great fries out as quickly as possible. Try it once and you will be hooked too. This is one of those places where everybody seems to know everybody else. Most of their customers must have been eating there forever. Just Great !!!!!! Can't say enough !!!!!!!!!”

“Whenever I am on the road, I like to check out the local eateries and the Rig Restaurant and Saloon fits that bill very well. You can't miss the oil rig that is in the middle of the parking lot, and is clearly visible from of the freeway. When you enter the Rig, you find yourself in the "Hall of Texas", facing high on the far end of the hall, the map of Texas painted on a huge long-horn skin that is painted with bright colorful scenes that depict the history of the state. The food: the steak was juicy and to my liking, we were offered several choices of potatoes or rice, the salad bar was average but the items were fresh and crisp. One member of our group is vegetarian, even though there were no specific vegetarian items on the menu, the waitress was very cooperative and arranged for a special plate of colorful cooked veggies, that was in addition to the salad bar. Nobody from our group left hungry or dissatisfied. To end our evening we stopped by the adjoining "saloon" where some of us participated in the "Karaoke" sing a long. ”

“Sammy's pizza is where they really shine! Everyone I have recommended this place to has loved it. They serve NY style pizza and it is wonderful! I live downtown and eat there a lot. They have many other menu items, all the Italian classics, which are ok and their desserts (cheesecake and chocolate cake) are very good too. Yum, yum!”

“This down home restaurant makes you feel right at home. Excellent service, those girls run their ass off and smile all the way. Make sure you treat them girls right cause they sure will treat you right. You get a lot of food for a little money you wont leave there hungry. They put out the best breakfast in all of Fort Worth. And you can't beat their lunch specials. ”

“I am a regular customer of Charley's for many years. I am well pleased with the food, service and decor. I wait for the food because it is cooked to order and sometimes at peak hours, probably lunch, the wait time is somewhat long. I have always received a large number of fries with my order and the fresh lemonade is made from many lemons, and tastes great. I guess you can tell that I have read Tracy's review. I'm sorry she was disappointed, There a lot of people like me who enjoy the food enough to become regular customers. I heard the staff talking about Tracy's review and felt I should set the record straight. I recommend the place highly.”

“The wait for a hamburger is very long. On the sign they say they cook it when you order it, but I waited for about 15 minutes for 2 burgers. The meat tasted like every other burger out there that's frozen and then cooked. The only difference between a burger from there and a burger from say McDonald's is that they soak the bun in butter and I guess that is where the "old-fashioned" taste comes from. I paid $16 for 1 plain burger that was just meat, lettuce, pickle, and tomato and one hamburger with the same stuff, only add 2 pieces of bacon. And add 1 very small order of fries and one small order of tater tots and 1 large "home-made" lemonade that tasted like plain water with 1 lemon thrown in. I don't call that real lemonade. I could've gotten 2 complete value meals at say burger king with more toppings that tasted better and would've costed me much less. I was willing to pay that much for the food because I thought I was in for a treat. I was in for a treat. Only I got tricked too. I paid too much for food that I was highly disappointed in after I ate it. I will never go back there again and suggest that no one else waste their money. They are overpriced and over-rated if you ask me. Well, we all have to learn our lesson once I guess.”

“It's a cozy little restaurant tucked in NRH, TX. The food is pretty good, and the catfish of course is great. That's not the best part. They have smoking and non-smoking. That is not the best part. They have a neat 3-section bar/lounge in the back separate from the restaurant.”

“These are the BEST Hamburgers I have ever eaten and their is no substitute . We now drive 60 miles to get those wonderful Clown hamburgers and super ' real ' French Fries . The young man who owns the place is unique in that only he seems to be able to make hamburgers like these . Had he ever elected to expand , and could keep that same superb quality , he would have been the largest hamburger tycoon in the world .”
