Cities Grille

Overall Rating: 10 User Rating Score: 10
Food:[10] • Service:[10] • Atmosphere:[9]

  • Entrees offer pleasing pairing of flavors and nice presentation.
  • My husband didn't care for the vermouth used in his Manhattan.

“Had read previous review so we were a little hesitant, but went anyway. My husband and I each had a delicious meal and our waitress was friendly, attentive and helpful. We would recommend the restaurant to someone with even the most discerning of taste.”

Old Chickahominy House Inc
Nov 4, 2008 by Loren & Rita from McKeesport

Overall Rating: 10 User Rating Score: 10
Food:[10] • Service:[10] • Atmosphere:[10]

  • You can't beat the food or the service.
  • It is too far from home to be a regular for breakfast.

“We travel to Williamsburg three or four times a year and enjoy breakfast or lunch at Old Chickahominy House several times each visit. A trip to Williamsburg would not be complete without a meal at Chickahominy.”

Peking Restaurant
Sep 9, 2008 by Karen from southern md

Overall Rating: 10 User Rating Score: 10

  • Quality of food and variety.
  • Cannot think of any.

“My husband and I have been going to Williamsburg for a time now and part of that visit was to go to have seafood buffet. Our last trip, we went to the restaurant because I love oriental food. All I can say is, hotel has nothing over this place. I would not be going back there. The restaurant was so impressive and overwhelming! You can try several different styles of cooking all under one roof instead of going to different restaurants. The variety of foods they offer are just wonderful! The food was hot, fresh, and plenty of it to choose from. It is not dried out, old, stale and minimal. They are constantly tending to the foods. And the service people are just the friendliest! I cannot say enough good things about this place. I cannot wait until we go back there! I am not a food critic, just a person that ate there. If you are looking great, delicious and a huge variety of flavors and foods and textures to try, you have to go to this place! Do not know what you would like, no problem. Lots of choices to try out to see if you like it. And compared to the price we can go to the restaurant twice as to other once. I promise, if you enjoy oriental cuisine, you will not be disappointed in this place, so give it a try and see that what you think!”

  • Authentic, good portions, good service, fair prices.
  • Appears so of the staff is illegal aliens. Mexican busboy/no English, clearly here illegally.

“Old school, very authentic Italian American restaurant with the classics. Good service, nice atmosphere, and really well done Italian food. This place would be at home in any neighborhood in the Northeast which is known for good Italian American cuisine. Very family friendly, very well priced, a must visit if you are in Williamsburg, VA.”

Berrets Seafood Restaurant
Aug 31, 2007 by Beth from Louisburg, NC

Overall Rating: 10 User Rating Score: 10
Food:[10] • Service:[9] • Atmosphere:[8]

  • Excellent food, great prices!
  • Atmosphere.

“My husband and I had lunch at Barrett's on our recent trip to Williamsburg. We shared the Calamari appetizer and my husband had a cup of New England Clam Chowder. The calamari was cooked perfectly. Flash fried. Calamari takes a special talent to cook properly so it's not chewy or raw and this was perfect. The ginger dipping sauce was delicious. For our entree, we both chose the cheese ravioli with seared shrimp and scallops. I have never tasted anything so wonderful. The presentation was also beautiful! We enjoyed everything we ordered. We only wished we had gone earlier in our trip so we could have eaten there again and again!”

Overall Rating: 9 User Rating Score: 9
Food:[9] • Service:[10] • Atmosphere:[9]

  • Good food, many selections, and great price.
  • None.

“Don't let the outside of the building fool you. Looks small from outside but is large on inside. Great buffet with many items usually not on a buffet, but wait till you see the Mongolian grill. Take whatever meat of your choice, pick some veggies and sauce, and they will fry it to your liking. You cannot believe the low price. Definitely will return to this place!”

Pierces Pit Bar B Que Inc
Jul 11, 2007 by Tracy from West Point, VA

Overall Rating: 7 User Rating Score: 7
Food:[7] • Service:[7] • Atmosphere:[7]

  • You can smell the smoke pit from the interstate.
  • It is a little pricey considering it is not the best BBQ you can get.

“If you don't have a good BBQ joint near you, then this place will do. This is an authentic pit BBQ joint and it is the only one within 30 miles or so. Everything is pretty much homemade and this place has become a local icon, but I would not rate this as one of the best BBQ places around and I think it has become pricey with its notoriety. I think Famous Dave's is better and there is a place called the County Grill in Hampton that has better BBQ.”

Golden Corral
Jul 11, 2007 by Tracy from West Point, VA

Overall Rating: 7 User Rating Score: 7
Food:[7] • Service:[7] • Atmosphere:[7]

  • Best value for large family (price, selection, quality).
  • Can be very crowded during Sundays and around dinner time.

“For the price and selection, you cannot beat Golden Corral for a place to take a large family. It is not that much more expensive than fast food, but the quality and selection is a lot better. If you are not in a hurry and can sit down to eat, this is a good value for the money. If you don't like standing in line at the buffet and you don't like crowds, then try to avoid Sundays--it seems that Golden Corral is the unofficial restaurant for those just getting out of church.”

Captain Georges Seafood Rest
Jul 11, 2007 by Tracy from West Point, VA

Overall Rating: 7 User Rating Score: 7
Food:[9] • Service:[7] • Atmosphere:[7]

  • The selection on the buffet is incredible.
  • Cost too much for a family and is always crowded.

“This restaurant is very, very expensive for a family to dine. We only go once a year for a special occasion. The last time we went was Aug 2006 to celebrate our oldest son going off to Va Tech as a freshman. I believe buffet was $27 per person then-it may be more now. The selection is incredible, and they do have all-you-can-eat high-dollar items such as crabs, crab legs, oysters, clams, etc., but it is so crowded, you have to stand in line to get the crabs or crab legs. In order to get your money's worth, you pretty much have to try everything they have and gorge yourself because you can't really afford to go to Captain Georges more than once a year if you have a large family.”

Kyoto Jpnese Steak Sfood Hse S
Jul 11, 2007 by Tracy from West Point, VA

Overall Rating: 8 User Rating Score: 8
Food:[8] • Service:[8] • Atmosphere:[10]

  • Good food, good entertainment.
  • There is always at least a 20-minute wait.

“This is where we take our family of 7 to eat in Williamsburg for special occasions. Due to the size of our family, we generally eat out at places like Golden Corral where there is a large selection for everyone. However, Kyoto is a great place to take a family for those special occasions where price is not a consideration. I recommend you make reservations, or do what we do and eat at the sushi bar while you are waiting on your table. The chefs at the grill are fast and fun to watch. All in all, no more expensive than your typical chain steakhouse and you get some extra entertainment to boot. Once you are seated, the service is fast. The meat portions are small, but they give you soup and salad to start and lot of grilled vegetables.”

Aromas
Oct 26, 2006 by Nick from Washington, DC

Overall Rating: 3 User Rating Score: 3
Food:[2] • Service:[1] • Atmosphere:[7]

  • Good music.
  • Slow service, bland coffee/espresso, inexperienced management.

“I used to visit Aromas quite often, but I have found the food, coffee and management of Aromas to have declined seriously in quality over the past year. The manager (maybe she's the owner) moved me last time I was there from a nice window table on jazz night when some of her friends arrived who wanted (but had not reserved or arrived early for) my table. I objected to this, noting that with the declining food, service and coffee quality, that this was the last straw. Then, even though many tables opened up, the manager still insisted on giving her friends my table. Poor show! My money will be better spent elsewhere.”

Aberdeen Barn
Sep 25, 2006 by Fiona from Aberdeen, Scotland

Overall Rating: 1 User Rating Score: 1
Food:[1] • Service:[3] • Atmosphere:[1]

  • Nothing.
  • Everything.

“We have dined in restaurants throughout the USA and Europe and in our opinion this is one which should be avoided. When we entered the restaurant we chatted with the manager, George, who was extremely friendly. Being a native of Aberdeen, Scotland he said he would be interested in my opinion on their `Angus Steaks'. Firstly, our waitress Sharon dealt with a situation out of her control extremely well and I have no criticism regarding her service. I asked for a mojito cocktail - not available - I ordered hot crab dip but without the garlic croutons. I was told they were not like normal croutons - i.e. not fried bread - but when they arrived they were slices of stale toast. It was noted that I didn't eat the croutons and we then received hot bread rolls. Entree course was Prime Rib at $22+ which was probably the worst I have ever tasted. Firstly, it was cold as was the wild rice which accompanied it. Secondly, it tasted processed and not like a steak should be at all - tasteless. The `au jus' was also cold. We paid the check but noticed that the waitress had told the manager, George, that we were not happy. Surprisingly, he did not approach us regarding the problems we had experienced. On leaving the restaurant I spoke to him and asked why he hadn't approached us. He said he wasn't aware it was necessary and initially denied the problem had been brought to his attention. He then admitted he didn't think it was necessary - we had paid the bill ($87.02). His attitude was appalling (we have your money so don't care whether you enjoyed the food or not) I am just disappointed we didn't go to Outback as my husband would have preferred. Be Warned!”

Doraldo Restaurant
Jul 29, 2006 by diane from aberdeen, md

Overall Rating: 9 User Rating Score: 9
Food:[10] • Service:[10] • Atmosphere:[9]

  • Marinara with just enough kick. Some places serve it too bland.
  • None.

“Because we visit here often, we were looking for a new favorite Italian eatery. We found it. We arrived early and were seated immediately. The place is huge, but is divided into smaller rooms, so the feeling is always intimate. Bread and salad and drinks arrived within 5 minutes of our arrival. I had shrimp and clams in marinara over capallini and my husband had spaghetti and meatballs. Both were excellent, as were the marvelous garlic roulettes The children had spaghetti and baked ziti, also well prepared and in generous serving. Salad was served family-style and was delicious! Our drinks were refilled often and the wait staff was extremely attentive. We will be back soon and often.”

Captain Georges Seafood Rest
Jul 29, 2006 by diane from aberdeen, md

Overall Rating: 8 User Rating Score: 8
Food:[8] • Service:[9] • Atmosphere:[7]

  • Unlimited steamed crab legs.
  • All the butter and oil in dishes. Very heavy.

“Captain George's is a lesson in over-indulgence. The atmosphere and decor is a bit tacky, and the seating can be very tight. There are a lot of foods in butter and heavy oil sauces, so there is very little in the way of choice for the waist conscious The buffet items are uninspired - nothing out of the norm. And it is quite pricey, significantly more than we would normally expect to pay for a night out to eat with the children. Be very hungry if you decide to visit this establishment, and be sure your gym membership is up to date in order to work off all this very heavy food for the next few days.”

Berrets Seafood Restaurant
Apr 23, 2006 by Phil from Charleston, SC

Overall Rating: 9 User Rating Score: 9
Food:[8] • Service:[8] • Atmosphere:[7]

  • Our waitress was low-key but extremely considerate and skillful.
  • A bit pricey, but not considering the location.

“A mainstay of the Colonial Williamsburg/William and Mary area, good seafood and friendly surrounds in the small area where the two almost intersect. The she-crab soup is highly recommended by locals. I had a seared grouper sandwich that was delicious -- the fish was garnished, but in a way that respected and reserved the taste and texture of the fish itself.”

Aromas
Apr 23, 2006 by Phil from Charleston SC

Overall Rating: 8 User Rating Score: 8
Food:[8] • Service:[8] • Atmosphere:[10]

  • Amazed to find real coffee with so many tourists around (inc. me)
  • Not the place to come for a country breakfast -- food's good, but it's a coffee house.

“Good honest to God coffee, in sizes with the mysterious names small, medium and large. Located just off the Wm and Mary campus at the west end of Colonial Wmsburg. Sidewalk & indoor seating. Breakfast sandwiches, pastry, bagels, newspapers, mugs, etc.”

Capitol Pancake & Waffle House
Mar 17, 2006 by Judy from Houston, Texas

Overall Rating: 10 User Rating Score: 10
Food:[9] • Service:[10] • Atmosphere:[10]

  • The service, food and location.

“I have visited the Williamsburg area many times since 1969 and have found this place the best one for me to get my day started. The wait staff are really grand, in my opinion and they have always been very friendly and helpful. I'm usually not much for eating breakfast, but I find that I really look forward to going to this place when I visit Williamsburg. I can hardly wait for my mornings to arrive so I can go and eat breakfast. I've also tried their lunch menu a few times and have found that enjoyable, as well. At any rate, I hope to eat there many more times to come.”
