Doraldo Restaurant
Jul 29, 2006 by diane from aberdeen, md

Overall Rating: 9 User Rating Score: 9
Food:[10] • Service:[10] • Atmosphere:[9]

  • Marinara with just enough kick. Some places serve it too bland.
  • None.

“Because we visit here often, we were looking for a new favorite Italian eatery. We found it. We arrived early and were seated immediately. The place is huge, but is divided into smaller rooms, so the feeling is always intimate. Bread and salad and drinks arrived within 5 minutes of our arrival. I had shrimp and clams in marinara over capallini and my husband had spaghetti and meatballs. Both were excellent, as were the marvelous garlic roulettes The children had spaghetti and baked ziti, also well prepared and in generous serving. Salad was served family-style and was delicious! Our drinks were refilled often and the wait staff was extremely attentive. We will be back soon and often.”

Captain Georges Seafood Rest
Jul 29, 2006 by diane from aberdeen, md

Overall Rating: 8 User Rating Score: 8
Food:[8] • Service:[9] • Atmosphere:[7]

  • Unlimited steamed crab legs.
  • All the butter and oil in dishes. Very heavy.

“Captain George's is a lesson in over-indulgence. The atmosphere and decor is a bit tacky, and the seating can be very tight. There are a lot of foods in butter and heavy oil sauces, so there is very little in the way of choice for the waist conscious The buffet items are uninspired - nothing out of the norm. And it is quite pricey, significantly more than we would normally expect to pay for a night out to eat with the children. Be very hungry if you decide to visit this establishment, and be sure your gym membership is up to date in order to work off all this very heavy food for the next few days.”

Sals By Victor
Apr 23, 2006 by Phil from Charleston, SC

Overall Rating: 8 User Rating Score: 8
Food:[6] • Service:[8] • Atmosphere:[7]

  • Staff is very responsive.
  • Not the place for a quiet dinner.

“Good home made, a nice, busy Italian restaurant with great aromas and scurrying wait staff. Pizza is not great but is above average. Popular with locals.”

Berrets Seafood Restaurant
Apr 23, 2006 by Phil from Charleston, SC

Overall Rating: 9 User Rating Score: 9
Food:[8] • Service:[8] • Atmosphere:[7]

  • Our waitress was low-key but extremely considerate and skillful.
  • A bit pricey, but not considering the location.

“A mainstay of the Colonial Williamsburg/William and Mary area, good seafood and friendly surrounds in the small area where the two almost intersect. The she-crab soup is highly recommended by locals. I had a seared grouper sandwich that was delicious -- the fish was garnished, but in a way that respected and reserved the taste and texture of the fish itself.”

Aromas
Apr 23, 2006 by Phil from Charleston SC

Overall Rating: 8 User Rating Score: 8
Food:[8] • Service:[8] • Atmosphere:[10]

  • Amazed to find real coffee with so many tourists around (inc. me)
  • Not the place to come for a country breakfast -- food's good, but it's a coffee house.

“Good honest to God coffee, in sizes with the mysterious names small, medium and large. Located just off the Wm and Mary campus at the west end of Colonial Wmsburg. Sidewalk & indoor seating. Breakfast sandwiches, pastry, bagels, newspapers, mugs, etc.”

Capitol Pancake & Waffle House
Mar 17, 2006 by Judy from Houston, Texas

Overall Rating: 10 User Rating Score: 10
Food:[9] • Service:[10] • Atmosphere:[10]

  • The service, food and location.

“I have visited the Williamsburg area many times since 1969 and have found this place the best one for me to get my day started. The wait staff are really grand, in my opinion and they have always been very friendly and helpful. I'm usually not much for eating breakfast, but I find that I really look forward to going to this place when I visit Williamsburg. I can hardly wait for my mornings to arrive so I can go and eat breakfast. I've also tried their lunch menu a few times and have found that enjoyable, as well. At any rate, I hope to eat there many more times to come.”
