“Only good to watch sports on the many TV's and have a beer. Food is terrible and highly overpriced. Looks like its all straight from Sam's Club and just microwaved. And the lay-out of the building is really weird.”

“I have been to Japanese steakhouses in numerous states, but this was the worst experience by far. To begin with the container for dirty dishes and utensils was less than 4 feet from the table. The chicken was exceptionally dry, and the portions on the smaller size. The bill for my husband and myself was over $50.00 for two entrees, no rice, and hot tea and the food and atmosphere did not justify the expense.”

“The best pizza I have ever had. Ducking from Stray Bullets was a little hard, and the Whiskey Tango was a little thick, but the terror was well worth it. Good Pizza!”

“You are definitely paying for atmosphere and service. The service was exquisite but the food did not match the service and atmosphere. For the most part the food presentation was nice. Steaks straight off the grill, still sizzling hot, served on hot plates with wooden chargers. I was a bit upset to see mashed potatoes served on a small side plate scooped with an ice cream scoop. We ordered several different cuts at different temperatures and received all our entrees at the same time, and we were all very satisfied with the temperatures our steaks were cooked, but the consensus of the table was that the steaks were not anything worth getting excited over. The price point of the menu was higher than typical corporate chain steakhouse but lower than your more extravagant restaurants. If you are simply looking for a great steak I would pass on this place. If you are looking for a quaint environment and good service, possibly a date location, I would not totally suggest Aberdeen Barn but then again I wouldn't disregard it. The table did not order any seafood.”

“Food was very overpriced. Sub sandwiches were alright. Nothing was great. Went one night for dinner, got a dinner salad with chicken and my boyfriend got a burger. His burger looked like it came from a school cafe, my dinner salad was also poor (lots of white and droopy lettuce), also I asked for honey mustard dressing and waitress made a face and said that she didn't recommend it but that she would give it to me anyways, that it was nasty and thick. Not something you want to hear from your waitress. As other reviewer stated, food was overpriced, and I was not impressed and plan not to return.”

“I think the restaurant is great and the atmosphere is perfect, what I was most disappointed in was the flexibility of the owner and staff when it came to leaving the Sauerkraut off of a Pastrami sandwich. My wife and I had lunch outside on Saturday, spent the night at the night club and returned for the brunch on Sunday before returning home. Lunasea had a 2-1 special, we did not know this prior to arriving. I am allergic to Sauerkraut, but love Pastrami, and expected it to be as outstanding as all the other food there. Only to be told by an inexperienced waitress, her second day on the job, that they could not take the Sauerkraut off the sandwich. I eat at restaurant all over the country, surely they could omit the Sauerkraut if the wanted to, since it was a freshly made sandwich. Sure enough, I was then approached by another waitress who brought one and said, we cannot make substitutions to the 2-1 special, I replied, it is an omission, you are saving money, just leave it off the sandwich. This all took place about 45 minutes after we got there and my patients were running low. She goes back and brings the sandwich with the Sauerkraut on it, I then told her I was allergic and that was the most absurd thing I had ever been told at a restaurant. That is not good customer service and I hope the owner reads this review, because I like the restaurant, and will return, to give him another chance.”

“My second time visiting here and I really think it might be one of the best restaurants in Virginia. Everyone there was really friendly, our server was on top of his game all night, and the food was amazing. I took my wife here for our anniversary and we both started off with their clam appetizer and ordered the prime rib since it is their specialty. The Prime Rib was perfectly cooked and everything from the bread to the mashed potatoes was truly amazing. We ended the night with the chocolate tuxedo dessert which the waiter recommended and definitely was the best chocolate dessert we have eaten here in Virginia.”

“I must say one of the worst places to ever work for and was treated very unfairly, very rude and inconsiderate people. I would never recommend anyone to go to ChickFilA ever at this location and because of this bad experience I had at the store I will never for the rest of my life ever eat at a ChickFilA and I have warned all my friends not to go to this location.”

“I used to work in this place and definitely it is not my favorite restaurant. It is too expensive for the quality they have. Bad managing, bad hygiene and believe me when I say bad I mean really bad. They have a lot of bad people going there.”

“I happened upon this dive because I was visiting a friend who frequents it. I really didn't sample the food, since I could only handle about 40 minutes of this ratty place. Usually, I prefer the smaller little bars, because the crowd is more laid back and friendly, but the crowd here was less than friendly, and downright insulting to a point, a bunch of regular barfly jerks who all think that it is their bar and were very unwelcoming. The bartenders were also unfriendly. I guess they don't realize that they work for tips. If I were you I'd find a cleaner, more friendly place, anyone can do better than this joint, I don't care how cheap the drinks are.”

“This restaurant has a great family atmosphere. The manager is particularly friendly, he makes a point of getting to know his regulars. In addition the food was great! Seriously, this place has the best waffles in town! Between the friendly atmosphere, the warm colored decorations, and the great food, this place makes for a perfect Sunday morning brunch! I highly recommend checking it out!”

“The place was recommended by a co-worker because the drinks are cheap. Unfortunately, the savings on drinks did not make up for my feeling that the place was going to be raided at any minute. The place does have cheap drinks, which seems to attract the very young (maybe too young) thuggish type and those partner swapping types. There did not seem to be a doorman or any type of security; I did not see anyone get asked for ID. 2 girl bartenders and 2 waitresses, who seem to be oblivious to there surroundings, too much for them to handle, or they just don't. The karaoke was loud, but they did have a few who could sing.”

“I took my husband to Blue Pete's last night for a special "First Father's Day Dinner". I wanted to try something different and something that he had never had before. He is a manager at a restaurant and is pretty critical about service and food. He loves to cook, so I wanted to take him somewhere where he could try something different! I surprised him with this restaurant. When we first pulled up, he had no idea where he was. Blue Pete's is located out in the middle of nowhere, which I love! When we walked in they knew just who we were and seemed very happy to see us! That made me feel really good. We got a nice table right by the window overlooking the water. The table scape was set up very nicely and cleanly. The hostess introduced the server by name and we were given an opportunity to look over the menu. Once our server came over, he was very personable, offering his favorite dishes to us. He was very attentive and made sure we had everything we wanted and needed. The food was wonderful! My husband ate everything off of his plate and even some of mine! We received a very good amount of food for the price and the wine was delicious! We also ordered dessert and we were very pleased with that as well! As we were about to leave, the manager came over to our table to see how our dinner was. This was very professional, and we appreciated this very much. My husband had a wonderful dinner and we plan to go back very soon! This restaurant is now under new management and is definitely worth another visit!”

“Last week I visited bubba's and talked with one of the responsible employees to arrange a luncheon we were planning to have with a group of friends. I chose the menu (green salad, grilled tuna or fried flounder, coke or soda, dessert, coffee or tea) and asked the price of the menu per person. Unfortunately I was not wise enough to ask if gratuity was included, neither did I make a contract to cover all details. Then we had the luncheon today. The main dish was good, salad was ok and dessert was poor. They somehow managed to make a dessert they call "German chocolate cheese cake" without using any chocolate or cheese. I liked the service, young and cheerful waitresses did a good job.”

“I had a blast when my friend and I went dancing here! It's right near "the block," for out-ot-towners, that is where a few bars and clubs are on the oceanfront. I told myself I would never date a guy I met at a bar. However, this particular night one of the gentlemen there pursued me for months after that night, and we are now in a committed and amazing relationship!”

“The food was traditional burger fair, nothing spectacular. I ordered the Gyro and my friend ordered the Philly cheese sub. 9 dollar margarita was overpriced and the gyro and sub were 9 each also way overpriced. Its a tourist trap. On the oceanfront so it can charge the tourists much higher than any same person would pay. Food was ok, but I expected to pay half of what my actual bill was.”

“Last night my fiancé and I went to The Aberdeen Barn to celebrate our recent engagement. When I called to make a reservation, I was offered a quiet table by the fireplace. When we arrived, however, no one even asked what name we were under and quickly escorted us to a table in the back that shared a bench with a larger corner table. When we asked about our fireplace table we were advised that they never reserve specific tables on the weekends. The service was poor. We sat with our water glasses, Lance cracker bread sticks, a bowlful of butter and some cheese spread that tasted like it was from the dollar store. When we asked if we were supposed to have bread, we were told that it was still in the oven. It must have been 'bring your kids and all of their friends to dinner' night because I haven't seen so many kids in a restaurant since my last trip to Chuck E. Cheese. Between the kids crying, carrying on, climbing on the seats, the two songs constant re-played by the gloomy clarinet and keyboard players, you could barely have a conversation without feeling like you were yelling. The wait staff seemed frazzled, a little all over the place and inattentive at best. When our waitress said “if you need anything, just holler” she truly meant it!! We constantly waited for drink refills, bread, etc. If a quiet, relaxing, (and possibly romantic) restaurant is what you are looking for stay far away from The Aberdeen Barn!”

“The relaxed atmosphere is a definite plus at this restaurant. Its quiet, with a lighted fireplace in the winter. Its a cute and cozy cafe styled restaurant serving different items on the visual menu everyday. They have a great list of different sandwiches, some hot, some cold, and the greatest coffees/lattes/cappuccinos. I highly recommend this restaurant.”

“The prices make this a special occasion restaurant. We went for a "Sweet 16" celebration, and practically everyone was able to find something on the menu they liked, which is hard for this age group. The food was served relatively quickly and at a good temperature. The food was good, but could have been a little tastier. Our server was very attentive even though the restaurant was full. The valet service was prompt and greatly appreciated given the weather that evening, though forced valet parking can be a bit irritating (all parking on the premises is valet parking). Upon making the reservation, I let it be known that this was a celebration - a little recognition to the honoree would have been appreciated.”

“I went to college at WWC and was back in town for work. We went as a group and found it to be great. It was tucked back in a shopping center between a sports bar and a church (apparently its a local favorite). The place is set up more like a bar, but the food was awesome and unique. I had a spicy lamb shank with mashed potatoes and grilled asparagus. It was like nothing I have ever had. We stayed pretty late and the place really picked up. To say it was lively is an understatement.”

“I was there with my friends for the labor day weekend and was met with a $5 entry charge for no other reason than being from out of town. For a town which clearly survives of tourism this is a joke. There are plenty of other bars that are equally as good that wont charge you, despite what the door man might say at this particular bar. Food was average and drinks were not so special that I felt like I had to run back there any time soon.”

“You would never eat here based on appearances. The restaurant's windows and floor had a worn, appearance, and everyone in there had shaved heads, tattoos and body piercing. The restaurant looked more like a skateboarder's hangout than a high class restaurant, but a local business woman highly rated this establishment as being kid friendly and dog friendly (we don't have a dog and I didn't see any there). After poking my head in for a quick view I quickly left the place and walked to the corner information booth, where yet another local highly praised their cuisine! Boy was I glad I brought my clan back! We ate in the Pool Room (as in Billiards, not Spa) which had seating enough to accommodate my party of six. They must have over two hundred different kinds of bottled beer - the largest selection on the beach! Everywhere I looked on the menu, I kept seeing sashimi grade tuna mentioned, so I sprang for the pan seared, ginger teriaki cajon glazed tuna. It was mouth-wateringly incredible, and complimented by the Land Shark Lager beer that I ordered with my meal. My wife and others sprang for the tortellinis- cooked to perfection. Altogether, six people, lunch with drinks came to around $65! I am planning on driving down there sometime in September, just for lunch! (On the decor - the bartender explains that their lease runs out next year, so atmospheric beautification is not on the menu until they relocate).”

“We went to this restaurant at the end of June 2007. The first thing we noticed was that it was extremely warm. We said something to the waiter who informed us that the air conditioning was broken. We figured that we just hit the restaurant wrong and were impressed by reviews that we read online. We ordered chop salad, shrimp Wasabi salad, another shrimp dish and a bunch of sushi. While we waited the waiter brought out bread with butter- the butter was Rancid. Still we stayed, this was the wrong decision. The chop salad was mostly chopped lettuce, there was very little else for the money we spent and the shrimp was spoiled. I still cannot eat shrimp after eating at this restaurant. Our waiter was unable to help us, in fact we were forced to leave the restaurant immediately after settling our $100.00 bill for rancid food because you are not allowed to leave your car in valet parking- even if you are going to stay for drinks in their bar. This is an awful restaurant. The management is terrible, the food is awful. Do not go.”

“By far the worst restaurant. We were served spoiled food and when we told them we were leaving they tried to make us pay the full bill. I asked them to compromise and only pay for what we received. They called the police! And then threatened me by sticking his fingers in his mouth using his fingers instead of a utensil to show that the food was fine! The buffet costs $25 and its 3 small stations. Do not eat here!”

“Service was great and the food is proportioned right and taste. Superb! We both had the Seafood Platter. The crab cake was 100% crabmeat, very moist. Oysters juicy and tender. The scallops were good, too. The entire platter was definitely a great choice. It was my birthday. My husband ask me to pick where to dine. He was delighted with my choice. He said we will be going back and soon.”

“This place gives you that small town neighborhood restaurant kind of feeling. Nothing fancy just good food and friendly smiling waitresses. “Took my wife there for our anniversary last night. Ordered the Seared Tuna and steamed vegetables. Even though it was a house special they told me the Tuna was bad, so I had to re-order. When the meal came the Broccoli was so overcooked they fell apart when my fork touched them--like green goo. Had to send it back: Inedible! She brought me more of the same overcooked mess. I asked the waitress why she couldn't tell these vegetables were overcooked. She said "I don't know that stuff, I don't eat anything green." $103 dollars for a meal for two, and they can't cook broccoli? Food from anopther time--think England in 1950. ”

“The food was badly overcooked (not just overcooked but dried out and tasteless) The steaks had no juices - the tuna was like shoe leather - the vegetables were rubbery - I got the distinct impression they were canned or precooked. The pasta was slightly better, the lobster bisque was passable. THE PRICES WERE OUTRAGEOUS. 20% is automatically added to parties of 6 and over. We sent back the tuna and one steak and the replacements were not much better. Do yourself a favor and avoid this restaurant. Try Tikis in Sand bridge - more of a singles than a family restaurant but the food is much better. I am so disappointed in this restaurant given that it was recommended by friends. YUK!”

“It looks better on the inside than it does on the outside. Staff were all friendly and service was prompt and professional. I went there with my family - wife 3 kids (8 to 13) my father and mother (who are on vacation with us). I get the impression that this restaurant is geared to a younger clientèle and you might do better on a busy evening if you were looking for a Karake night rather than a family meal. Food was well prepared if a little bland and predictable - not for the gourmets amongst you. Wine list was reasonable. On balance I would go there again if I was in the county.”

“I have been vacationing at Virginia Beach for the past 5 years. I always book a hotel within walking distance of the Maple Tree Pancake House. I enjoy a wonderful breakfast every morning. This establishment is clean, the food is delicious and a great value for your vacation dollar. It's a family owned business and the owners and staff are curious and friendly. When you pay your check, you will receive a pen and a lollipop. The menu offers assorted breakfast items; waffles, pancakes, bacon, sausage, eggs, assortment of juices, etc and the coffee is great. They also have a great lunch menu. The dress is beach casual for customers. So go to the Maple Tree, relax and enjoy!!”

“This restaurant provides a unique experience, I had the best salmon ever, with mashed potatoes and asparagus. The plate presentation is that if 5 star restaurants fancy sauces drizzled on plate, great garnishing, and plate balancing. It may not be ideal for an anniversary, but A great place to bring a date. I absolutely loved it and can't wait to return. The kids thing is at your own descriptions They are small, husband thinks not a place for kids. They gave my son coloring book and crayons and were very kid-friendly. ”

I couldn't have imagined finding such an exquisite restaurant hiding on the ground floor of a Ramada Inn. The seafood is wonderful and the sushi is the best I've ever had. “Probably the best Chinese food I have ever had. It's family owned and has been since I was a little girl, I won't eat anywhere else. All the recipes are made fresh and from scratch, you can tell they are family recipes passed down because of the uniqueness and quality. I have yet to find a comparable Chinese restaurant anywhere.”
