• Decor is a little old but always clean.

“This place has been around forever. They have the best subs at a good price. The staff is really great and the owner is usually right there along side them to help get you food faster. I would suggest people try the limeades and cheese fries they are the best!”

• Food taste good.
• Very rude staff.

“Food took over 1.25 hours to get to our table. I asked what kind of sauce came with a certain menu item and was told the red kind. I found all the staff that I interacted with very rude. The food while it taste good, I would next time eat my shoes before I paid any money to eat there again. You will never see me open my wallet up inside of there again that is for sure.”

• Young staffers, crowded Sunday breakfast, parking.

“River City takes you back to the 1950's with small diners and waitresses that make you feel like you are at your mom's house for breakfast. Sit back and relax and reminisce on a time of drive-in movies and poodle skirts. The prices are good and breakfast is served all day. The only downside is that it is a very popular place on Saturday and Sunday mornings. They have three locations, but I have found the Downtown location to be the best.”

There are too many other places to get food from for good people to spend there money and get treated better. Sympathies, to all who have to work for him.”

• Better get your order very clear; manager will call you a liar.

“Good food, VERY RUDE MANAGER! Ordered cheese steak sub, no mushrooms, manager loaded it with mushrooms and called my wife a liar when she said she didn't order them. She took them anyway. Cashier agreed the manager was rude.”

• The food and atmosphere.
• Bathrooms are a not customer friendly and are too small.

“My brother and I were driving down Leigh street and stopped at the light in front of croakers. While we were waiting for the light to turn green the aroma coming from the restaurant caught our attention. Before the light could turn green we had found a parking spot on the corner and pulled over with the quickness. The food is delicious and the portions are huge. Not to mention a very friendly staff. I would recommend croaker's to anyone who loves good old' fashioned soul food. It's the bomb!”

“I love the food at the croaker spot. We use to live in an hour north of Richmond and would drive down to Richmond just to go the croaker spot. We are visiting the area soon flying from California to Virginia, and will definitely be stopping by the croaker spot. Croaker spot is the best place to eat in Richmond.”

• Great baked spaghetti!!!
• not a good place to go for pleasant surroundings. 7o's home style décor.

• Long wait.

“The food is fantastic and the portions are amazing! As with anything good- you will WAIT for it but the wait is well worth it. Plenty of seasoning and flavor with that "good old' down home feeling." Everyone is very friendly and again, the food is FANTASTIC. You will forget the wait once you take your first bite. I recommend this to anyone passing through Richmond or to anyone with an unlimited amount of time to spend during lunch or dinner hours. The decor and music are a sight as well. Soul food at its best. GO NOW!!!!”

• A little too close for comfort.

“First time dining at this restaurant. it was a late Saturday night. my husband and I were warmly greeted. it seemed a bit chaotic the wait for seating was less than 5mins. the food didn't take long very long, but was worth waiting for. the portions were so huge, I had to take the rest home. we would definitely visit again.”

“I work in the Richmond area and try to eat from this reentrant More often than not I can't get served. It takes five to ten minutes to get an order placed by telephone (served-when you can). Today April 21,2006 takes the cake. I call to place an order for lunch. I am informed that they can't take my order over the phone. I am informed that the cook is backed up but they just can't take any orders over the phone. In Summary- the food is excellent however, the service and attitude of the staff is atrocious. The meaning of customer service is lost in this establishment. You have a good customer base, but many like me will seek service else where due to the extremely poor service received.”

• Delicious food and more than ample servings.
• They should serve at least corn bread while you are waiting.

“The food is scrumptious, well seasoned and plentiful. It was so good I ate there 2 days in a row. The major drawback is the restaurant is too small for the volume of business. They have take out service that probably surpasses the dine in 4 to 1. The combination of the 2 creates a bit of a wait. The food is worth waiting for.”

• I will never go there again, bad service all around from the management on down

“This meal was for 8 of us on business some folks from accross the county. We sat down at 3:45 and were not served until 5:10. The fried seafood is better at Long John Silvers, it had bones. Blackened chicken was very dry. When we spoke to the manager he said bones are part of eating fish and normal, I disagree for the high prices we paid. Getting refills was just about impossible we had people sit for 20 minutes without a waitress come by. It was not just us complaining a table near us couldn't get a glass of water. They offered bread at the table but only bought enough for about 4 of the 8 people there very inconsiderate. ”
