Applebee's
Jul 22, 2009 by Lucy from Owings, MD

Overall Rating: 10 User Rating Score: 10
Food:[10] • Service:[9] • Atmosphere:[10]

  • The food is excellent!
  • Nothing.

“I came into town & immediately opted Applebee's out and went to Ruby Tuesday's for my first night's dinner, which was horrible! My favorite New Orleans meal was disastrous! The next day I went out with some people from training who wanted to head to Applebee's and ordered the Three-Cheese Chicken Penne! FANTASTIC! This was one of the best meals I have had in a really long time. Thanks Applebee's, you have regained a customer (actually, a few new customers; I'm passing on the word to my family).”

Traditions Family Style Dining
Jun 23, 2009 by H'burg Native from Harrisonburg, VA

Overall Rating: 10 User Rating Score: 10
Food:[10] • Service:[10] • Atmosphere:[10]

  • Family style atmosphere, great food, and the best tea and rolls around.
  • Nothing negative.

“I am a local of the Harrisonburg area. Harrisonburg has plenty of restaurants, but Tradition's is a family friendly atmosphere and it is always a treat to go there. The food is definitely great. Definitely home made flavor and country style foods. If you have never been there before, its a great place to go and you honestly get your moneys worth. And if you don't get full, that's your own fault.”

IHOP
Mar 17, 2009 by sam from harrisonburg

Overall Rating: 1 User Rating Score: 1
Food:[1] • Service:[1] • Atmosphere:[1]

  • Nothing.
  • Everything.

“If this place were any worse, it would be a golden corral. Hey I hope ever clean anything? Nasty undercooked bacon. Syrup containers that are sticky. Hung over waitresses who gripe about having to work (then quit you ungrateful.) Please if you eat there. Pray first this place only survives due to unknowing travelers and drunken college kids.”

Dominos Pizza
Dec 20, 2008 by Paul from harrisonburg

Overall Rating: 1 User Rating Score: 1
Food:[1] •

  • Sandwiches taste good.
  • Service!

“For being a local business who sends people around to other businesses trying to drum up customers, I would think they would deliver 2 x 4.99 sandwiches to one of these. Seeing how my order was not 11 dollars and change they wouldn't. Losing any future business of mine and the five dollar tip that would have gone to the driver. But thank goodness Pizza Hut wants the business.”

Wood Fired Oven Italian Restaurant, Inc
Nov 5, 2008 by Pete from Marco Island

Overall Rating: 10 User Rating Score: 10
Food:[8] • Service:[8] • Atmosphere:[7]

  • Food, service and the owner was very personable.
  • NA.

“We were in the Woodfire at this time last year and we were looking forward to dining there once again on this trip to Florida. Is it possible for a going concern to go hill that fast, I'm skeptical to say the least, we'll try it again and do a follow-up report.”

Taste Of Thai
Sep 27, 2008 by Elaine from Hayden Lake, Idaho

Overall Rating: 10 User Rating Score: 10
Food:[9] • Service:[9] • Atmosphere:[9]

  • Best Thai food ever!
  • May be difficult to get in.

“Wonderful food - in fact the best Thai food we have ever eaten. We wish we had this restaurant near us because we would be regular customers. We had a Tomato Pork Curry with green beans that was out of this world, and a Crispy Haddock with a wonderful sauce (these may not be the exact names from the menu). Anyone who likes Thai food who lives anywhere near this restaurant should try it. We were told we may not be able to get in as it is usually crowded, but we did get in without any wait. Our server was very friendly and helpful, even though she was extremely busy. Makes my mouth water just thinking about it.”

Taste Of Thai
Feb 29, 2008 by Jeff from Harrisonburg,VA

Overall Rating: 10 User Rating Score: 10
Food:[10] • Service:[9] • Atmosphere:[9]

  • I could eat at this restaurant every week. I love it.
  • It can get crowded and busy.

“The food is wonderful! As soon as I walk into restaurant I smell the most delightful aromas. Every entree tastes terrific and the prices are reasonable. This place is very popular so you had better get there early for evening meals - especially if you plan to go either Friday or Saturday night. You might want to consider ordering Take-Out on the weekends.”

Taste Of Thai
Jan 29, 2008 by Megan from Staunton

Overall Rating: 10 User Rating Score: 10
Food:[10] • Service:[9] • Atmosphere:[9]

  • The food is absolutely phenomenal.
  • Waiters can get a little overworked or behind when it's crowded.

“This restaurant is truly for everyone. The picky eaters who tend not to venture to try new things can find food similar to traditional Chinese dishes they are used to ordering (although much, much better!), and the more adventurous eaters can find food that varies by spiciness and traditionalist. I am a vegetarian, and have found several different items that were wonderful - they will even substitute Tofu in dishes listed as having meat on the menu. The taste of the food is very fresh, and the atmosphere is sophisticated and relaxed. One of my favorites.”

Outback Steakhouse
Dec 31, 2007 by Elizabeth from Harrisonburg, VA

Overall Rating: 3 User Rating Score: 3
Food:[1] • Service:[5] • Atmosphere:[5]

  • Coconut Shrimp delicious.
  • Steak over cooked twice.

“Dining with a small [3] group of friends for pre-holiday, we all ordered the exact same items from the menu - steaks all prepared the exact same way. One was under cooked, one perfect, one [mine] over cooked beyond enjoyable. We informed our wait person, who took the steak and had the manager stop by our table. When the second steak arrived, it was one, not the same cut of beef at all and two, so cooked it could barely be cut. No apology, no comp. Since this is not the first time something like this has happened, I can assure you I will not be returning in the near future or beyond.”

Wood Fired Oven Italian Restaurant, Inc
Dec 3, 2007 by Nehemiah Zimlitsi from Portland, Oregon

Overall Rating: 2 User Rating Score: 2
Food:[2] • Service:[8] • Atmosphere:[3]

  • Friendly service (and thankfully apologetic to me).
  • Everything else. A filthy restaurant.

“Quite simply, this restaurant needs to close down. After returning home from a month-long stint on the east coast, I had to write this after such an awful experience. The bread they passed off as "fresh" was obviously at least a day or two old, the food was overpriced and moderate at best, and there were kids running all over the place, screaming and cavorting as loudly as they possibly could. The owner, who was visibly drunk, apologized for this, but ended up creeping myself and my associate out more than anything. The walls were dirty, the window coverings were in shameless disrepair, and the tablecloths were frayed and stained. The restaurant looked like it was once a nice place, but had not been maintained for years. The kicker is that my business partner said he used to go there all the time and usually had a fine experience. This is a restaurant that I will never return to if I happen to be in Harrisonburg again. What a joke.”

El Charro Corporation
Nov 18, 2007 by Hallie

Overall Rating: 9 User Rating Score: 9
Food:[10] • Service:[7] • Atmosphere:[9]

  • The food is so good!
  • They could be a little friendlier.

“I Love El Charro! I personally believe the service is better at the one on E Market St because they are friendlier and don't try to rip you off. I have also found a few unwanted things in my food at the one on Main St. They are very quick to serve your meals, and the atmosphere is also fun and can make anyone happy. This restaurant is good for anything whether it's a party, a date, or a girl's night out.”

Daves Taverna
Nov 14, 2007 by Barbara from McGaheysville, VA

Overall Rating: 8 User Rating Score: 8
Food:[9] • Service:[7] • Atmosphere:[7]

  • Happy hour prices; Greek Sampler, Solvaki.
  • Sometime a little cold inside.

“A great college place that is still okay for twenty and thirty somethings to frequent as well, Daves offers great food and beer at unbeatable prices. With a menu that strays from the standard bar food fare, Daves is one of the few local places that offer Greek dishes.”

Wood Fired Oven Italian Restaurant, Inc
Oct 28, 2007 by Linda

Overall Rating: 3 User Rating Score: 3
Food:[2] • Service:[7] • Atmosphere:[3]

  • The waitress was friendly, cheerful, and quite helpful.
  • The quality of Italian food has hugely deteriorated here.

“Regarding the wood fired oven Italian restaurant, I can see why this place has had to reduce its hours and why it was virtually empty when I visited. This was my sixth time in four years, and I always brought along a new guest to share this fantastic Italian food. What a shock I was in for this time! Not only the quality of cooking had dramatically dwindled, it was obvious the previous wonderful choices in food supplies had been changed to cheap, ordinary ones. I didn't mind paying the awfully high prices before, when I could smell the wood fire, garlic, and it was a delectable dining experience, but now, with fluorescent overhead lights, dirty walls, sad excuses for salads, and food that tasted for the most part like run of the mill cafeteria food, I was highly upset. I could barely detect garlic in any of the food, and food that formerly came with soaked in olive oil and herbs was now dry, hard and tasteless. I would like to note that I was extremely embarrassed to bring my Italian guest, to whom I had boasted of this wonderful Italian restaurant. My guest was appalled at the food, which was a different entree than mine. I will never return to this establishment. May I note that the preceding (positive) review is not for this Italian restaurant, which has never had a buffet in its history. The preceding review is for a different entity, a new wood fired buffet, not Italian at all, located less than two miles away.”

Barb-B-Que Ranch
Oct 8, 2007 by John from Loudoun, VA

Overall Rating: 10 User Rating Score: 10
Food:[10] • Service:[10] • Atmosphere:[10]

  • Excellent food - BBQ, funnel cake, milk shakes, delicious pie.
  • You'll probably want to plan to stop elsewhere to use the bathroom.

“The Barb-B-Que Ranch is the Mecca for BBQ in western Virginia. A quintessential roadside eatery along scenic Route 11 just north of Harrisonburg, this throwback to the 50's/60's features some of the best "greasy spoon" food in the state. The wax paper wrapped BBQ sandwiches are superb and a deal at $2.50 each. The fries are crisp and piping hot. Try the exceptional milkshakes and home made funnel cake! Great for families and travelers alike, you can opt to eat in, outside on picnic tables, or enjoy curbside service via old fashioned window trays. It's not a fancy place, and if you're looking for clean bathrooms keep on driving - it is, after all, little more than a roadside shack. Better yet, go ahead and eat here, then stop later if you need a restroom. The food, staff, and atmosphere is simply too good to be missed. I may drive the hour and a half again with the whole family just to have lunch. It just doesn't get any better than this.”

West Water St Cafe
Sep 17, 2007 by Mary from Harrisonburg

Overall Rating: 4 User Rating Score: 4
Food:[4] • Service:[8] • Atmosphere:[6]

  • Serving staff- sweet little lady.
  • Quality of food- not what it used to be.

“This used to be a favorite for lunch (hot roast beef sandwich with mashed potatoes) and breakfast (anything) but newer owner lacks pleasant style. Staff is nice; food is not what it used to be- sadly. Great fun location, but now they covered up the only window! I don't get it!”

  • The experience.

“This place is a trough. If all you want is quantity, you've found the barnyard. The building is nasty and the food is worse. This place gets consistent bad health inspection reports. Perfect for gluttons, slobs and cheapskates.”

Golden Corral
Jul 10, 2007 by Bruce and Penny from Winchester, VA

Overall Rating: 9 User Rating Score: 9
Food:[10] • Service:[2] • Atmosphere:[10]

  • A Smoke free environment and no food was over seasoned!
  • Waitress was new and not very attentive.

“Although our waitress was new everything else from the atmosphere, to the food and food prep people, and especially to the smoke-free environment was excellent! We would gladly make the hour and a half trip to Harrisonburg again to dine here and we have a Golden Corral in our own hometown that we do not care for ( the food is over seasoned and it is a smoking allowed restaurant). Ours just cannot compare to this Golden Corral. Good job, Golden Corral!”

Traditions Family Style Dining
Jul 2, 2007 by Sandra C. from Brentwood, MD

Overall Rating: 10 User Rating Score: 10
Food:[10] • Atmosphere:[10]

  • We had to call to get directions, the receptionist was very friendly and helpful.
  • Unfortunately we are in the Harrisonburg area only once or twice a year, otherwise we would visit Traditions more.

“We vacation at Massanutten Resort once or twice a year, and each time we make it a point to eat at Traditions Restaurant, at least once while vacationing. The food and service is excellent; and it is also family-friendly. We vacationed with three of our Grandchildren (ages 12, 9 & 2) this past week, the setting and food selections satisfied all our different taste buds.”

  • There was a wide array of food selections.
  • If forced to say, it is not a romantic atmosphere, if one is seeking such.

“I dined with a friend on a Friday evening. The food was spectacular and the service great. If this restaurant would be located in the DC area, there would be crowds waiting in line out to the highway.”

Country Cookin
Aug 22, 2005 by Jim from Harrisonburg

Overall Rating: 6 User Rating Score: 6
Food:[5] • Service:[7] • Atmosphere:[6]

“Country Cookin' is in "the" mall. It's dirt cheap with an all you can eat salad bar. There's no meat on the bar so if you want some you'll have to order an entree. $5.50 get you the bar-for no more than $7.00 get an entree with it. But don't expect much. You'll get a small piece of meat with fries or a potato. It's a great deal with OK food. If you sit at the table right beside the entrance everyone at the table gets free beverages.”
