“This is the best restaurant around. They have homemade pasta, sauces and bread; the finest service and a delightful atmosphere. It's cozy, warm, weekends they have an excellent guitarist, and a fireplace. You have got to try the Cafe Diablo. The show alone is worth the price. It's the perfect place for a date. If you come to Fredericksburg, you would be remiss to not visit this restaurant.”

“This was a good "first" for my party of three. We were seated promptly around 4:00 pm on Easter w/o reservations. Based on the attire of the staff, we felt a little under dressed in khakis and jeans. We were relieved to see a wide range of dress as we made our way to our table and completely relaxed as the staff made us feel very comfortable. Crystal, our server, was attentive and knowledgeable, and very helpful with a good mix of professionalism and personality. Each of us agreed the prime rib, filet mignon and seafood platter entres were excellent, as were the stuffed mushroom appetizer and strawberry La Bamba dessert we shared. On the downside, the dining room was a little cramped and the vinyl table cloths were out of place in an otherwise attractive upscale "hunt club" atmosphere (crackling fireplace with deer adorning the rustic brick walls). Prices in this cozy place could be justified by removing some tables and covering the rest in linen. The $55 for two drafts, appetizer and king cut prime rib (enough for two) is what one might expect to pay in finer Old Towne Fredericksburg restaurants. I'll be introducing my wife to this establishment upon our next visit and recommending it to others in the meantime.”

“My family members and I have been going to this restaurant since my kids started college at Mary Washington. They are now in their 50's. My wife, who has passed away a few years ago, and I made it a habit to drive from Annapolis for lunch about once every two months or so. I still go often, and everyone I've told about the place has got back to me about their visit and satisfaction. I wish we had just one restaurant in Annapolis where the food was as good and the prices as fair.”

“The place is nice, but I found the prices to be a bit on the high side for comparable restaurants in the area, the menu also seemed a bit limited and not as many choices as comparable restaurants in the area.”

“The food is great! Good selection of beers, wines and cocktails to suit your mood and meal. Nice selection of appetizers, soups, salads and entrees. The salad bar lets you make it the way you like it. Service is friendly and responsive. Casual atmosphere suitable for friends, family and business groups. I've never had a disappointing meal. Great for folks on a budget!”

“Although, we found the tea suitable and the food average, the service was extremely poor. Our food arrived long before our tea and we were practically finished with our food when the tea did arrive and still required brew time. My guest was given my tea and mine was hers (we figured this out after a cup). The Afternoon Tea selection my guest and I ordered was to come with clotted cream and jam but it did not. When we inquired, we were told that it came with it if "you wanted it" and of course we did. The clotted cream was brought out in small plastic cups like one would put ketchup in at a McDonalds and the jam was the individual Smackers jam packets one would get at a Cracker Barrel. The cream for our tea was tossed on the table in individual half and half cups you would find at any fast food place as well as the sugar which was simply sugar or Splendid packets like you see at a diner. A child guest had ordered the Child's Tea. The Afternoon Tea plate offerings were the same as the Child's Tea plate (but of course much more expensive). The amount of tea served with the selection was a disappointing two cups. All in all a disappointing experience to drive to the quaint old town of Fredericksburg, find parking, and dish out money for an experience we could have had at our local diner or IHOP.”

“A throw back to what people think is fine dining. Dark & Cramped dining rooms. The salad was a small bowl of iceberg lettuce and 2 huge pieces of gassed tomatos, nothing else. Pasta is nothing to write home about, over cooked the word "aldente' means nothing here. The sauce was basic needs some jazzing up. The service is great they make sure you have everything you need. If your looking to be over charged for bland and over cooked food, but you'll get good service and movie sytle atmosphere though.”

“When my daughter was assisting to University of Virginia we used to go visit a few times a year and we loved going there for breakfast. Their pancakes are the best and the French toast were my favorites. The rest of the menu was as good. Now living in California I really miss Aunt Sarah's.”
