Food:[9] • Service:[7] • Atmosphere:[7]

  • I liked the food, the drinks and the service.
  • I didn't like the smell or the amateur karaoke singers.

“It was either this place or apple bees. They were everywhere and the food all comes from the same factory somewhere in this land. This place was good and the food was real.”

Stubb's Barbecue
Apr 12, 2009 by DAX from Houston

Overall Rating: 4 User Rating Score: 4
Food:[5] • Service:[6] • Atmosphere:[1]

  • Everyone had a good view of the band.
  • They allow smoking which ruined the experience.

“Smoking ruined the show. You can not pack hundreds of people in a small venue and allow smoking. Small venues were nice in that, they allow everyone a great view of the stage, but allowing a selfish few the ability to smoke ruins it for the rest.”

Sun Hing
Mar 25, 2008 by Kat from Austin, TX

Overall Rating: 9 User Rating Score: 9
Food:[9] • Service:[8] • Atmosphere:[9]

  • Lunch menu gives you a fantastic deal!
  • Not the greatest Chinese food, but definitely satisfying.

“Not the greatest Chinese food place but definitely not the worst. What makes the trip really worth it is to come during lunch (between 11 and 2:30). They reduce all the prices so you can get a dish, rice, spring roll, and soup combo for around $6. Fantastic! The staff isn't the greatest with English so they'll occasionally mix up your order, but overall they're very friendly. I've never had a bad meal there yet.”

Antonio's Tex Mex
Dec 8, 2007 by Kevin from Austin

Overall Rating: 10 User Rating Score: 10
Food:[10] • Service:[9] • Atmosphere:[10]

  • The hospitable hospitality, awesome food, and Wi-Fi!
  • The music was too loud! Turn it down please.

“At first glance, you may notice a bit high-priced food items, but let me tell you, the extra two dollars you paying might as well be a tip for the cooks. The food is so awesome! Authentically made fresh and served to me hot! At first was a little too hot, but after I let it sit awhile, MMMMMMMM. I was ready for it because I had two dips with my friends. The Chile con queso! I liked the other dip better though, the Spinach Artichoke Dip. I ordered a chimichanga with beef fajita! My favorito! Everything was delicioso! Service was proficient! I wish I had my laptop because they provide Wi-Fi! Yeah, everyone should stop here just to try it out! It's right off 35. If you're going North, take the Louis Henna Blvd. exit and loop around on the bridge and its right there off the axis road. The way my friends and I went was going down South from Georgetown. You take the Hester's Crossing exit and pass two lights, and it's on the right by a hotel and a fat insurance building.”

Zoot
Nov 7, 2007 by April from Austin, TX

Overall Rating: 10 User Rating Score: 10
Food:[10] • Service:[10] • Atmosphere:[10]

  • Food + wine pairings were amazing, service was perfect.
  • Can't afford to eat there every single night!

“Excellent restaurant for people who appreciate (or are learning to appreciate) the power of food and wine pairings. My husband and I each ordered a different chef's tasting with wine paired with each course. It was like having 20 completely different - and wonderful - menu items! My four courses with and without wine, then his four courses with and without wine. The math might be wrong, but everything else about Zoot was right! Service was attentive but not overbearing. Environment was elegant but not stuffy.”

Eddie Vs Edgewater Grille
Aug 2, 2007 by Kristin from Austin

Overall Rating: 3 User Rating Score: 3
Food:[7] • Service:[1] • Atmosphere:[5]

  • Great chocolate cake.
  • Rude customer service and a staff (or customers) prone to crime.

“The food is fine, but holds onto anything of personal value or you may not see it again. I left my cell phone in the women's restroom after the restaurant had closed. 45 minutes later, someone began racking up $1400 worth of cell phone calls to Guatamala. Could have been a lingering customer from the bar area, could have been kitchen staff. When I shared my story with a co-worker, she told me that the last time she had dined at Eddie V's, she left her digital camera in the booth where she had been sitting and when she called the next day, she was icily told by the manager that it had not turned up. The manager ended his phone call with me regarding my cell phone with a cheery "have a nice day!" The food is fine, but I won't be back as either the customers (unlikely in this upscale restaurant) or the staff have sticky fingers.”

Antonio's Tex Mex
Jul 7, 2007 by Courtney from Dallas

Overall Rating: 10 User Rating Score: 10
Food:[10] • Service:[8] • Atmosphere:[6]

  • A anti-franchise restaurant.
  • Need to refurbish the restrooms.

“Definitely made for the locals, but very friendly to a traveler like me. Food was authentic, I mean it was spicy but knotty to spicy for a gringo like me. Their margaritas were supposed to be great, but I had their martinis Genie Martini), wonderful.”

North & South China Restaurant
Apr 10, 2007 by Rebeka from Austin

Overall Rating: 2 User Rating Score: 2
Food:[1] • Service:[5] • Atmosphere:[4]

  • Friendly staff.
  • Bad food, not clean, possibility of getting sick.

“If you are vegetarian, don't bother, the buffet does not offer anything without seafood or meat in it. The staff if friendly, but the seating area smelled like potty. I noticed a strong chemical smell on my chopsticks and that the food was lukewarm, sure enough I got a nasty bout of food poisoning the next day.”

Eddie Vs Edgewater Grille
Nov 1, 2006 by Monica from Mesquite

Overall Rating: 4 User Rating Score: 4
Food:[4] • Service:[5] • Atmosphere:[8]

  • Good service.
  • Don't think the waiters were paying good attention.

“I was very disappointed when I took my daughter there this weekend for a steak. We ordered it medium well and it came out rare. When they realized it and gave it back to the cook, it came back charred. It was awful. I escaped all the char off and left it in a pile, but they didn't realize it. They were willing to give us 2 desserts for forgetting the salad dressing, but nothing for a charred steak.”

Overall Rating: 9 User Rating Score: 9
Food:[10] • Service:[9] • Atmosphere:[9]

  • Great food, not too expensive.
  • Employees barely speak English (maybe a good sign).

“This is the best Chinese restaurant I've found so far in Austin. It's excellent, authentic, average priced food, and a great change of pace from the low quality tex-mex food that dominates Austin's restaurant scene. Now that I've found it, there's no way I'm going back to the likes of Magic Wok.”

Oasis (The)
Aug 10, 2006 by Vira from Austin

Overall Rating: 3 User Rating Score: 3
Food:[1] • Service:[1] • Atmosphere:[7]

  • The beautiful sunset.
  • Drinks were too expensive, food was cold, soggy and late getting to our table, waiter was unfriendly and inattentive.

“My sister and her family were visiting my husband and I from Laredo, Texas. We wanted to treat them to a special dinner. Granted, we hadn't visited the OASIS since the fire, but I was truly disappointed with the experience. The food was not good at all. Taco cabana would have been more Tex Mex than what we ate. I don't think any one of us made a dent in our food. I wished that I had ordered a hamburger just as my niece did instead of the fish tacos, or had stuck to the safe food, chips and salsa. The drinks were good, but were outrageously priced. Service was pitiful. Our waiter, when he finally came to our table, never made casual conversation nor smiled, and never stopped by our table to ask if we needed anything else. We didn't get an opportunity to ask for a second round of margaritas until he came by with the check. The only good thing about our experience, at least for my husband and I, was the sunset. My sister commented that she could get as great a view of the sunset from her backyard, and that this was the first time she has come across an unfriendly austenite. I wouldn't recommend the Oasis as a place to eat. I'd suggest eating elsewhere, and stopping by for the sunset on the way home. ”

Johnny Fins Floatin Bar Grill
Jul 17, 2006 by Lance from Cedar Park

Overall Rating: 9 User Rating Score: 9
Food:[9] • Service:[8] • Atmosphere:[10]

  • The manager Johnny was great.
  • The lake was low and the hill out front was in the way.

“The Jalapeno Olive Cheeseburger was the bomb. We sat on a table right next to the rail that was literally 2 feet from the water. Our daughter fed the ducks and fish and loved it. When the grandparents took our daughter home, we stayed to watch a great cover band, the Newsboys. It was a total party and the night was interrupted by a great fireworks show out in the cove (it was the 4th of July). Even though it was raining, the crowd stayed and the party was fun for all. Cudos to the great food and friendly staff. Johnny was great!”

Jaimes Spanish Village
Jul 6, 2006 by Fabian Pantoja from Guanajuato

Overall Rating: 10 User Rating Score: 10
Food:[9] • Service:[10] • Atmosphere:[10]

  • I like the service and the atmosphere.
  • Jaime should open more than one restaurant around Austin

“Well jaimes restaurant is a good tex mex restaurant. the waiters are always nice and always have a smile on their face. they are attentive and they don't make you wait a lot for your drinks or your food. During festivals like SXSW in Austin James is a really good place to be and eat at because you get to meet some artist that go and eat there and you get to hang around with your friends. The owner "Jaime" and his wife "mama goose "(thats her nick name) are very friendly. they will make sure that everything you need you get. whether is extra silver ware, napkins or if you order it a good shot of tequila or a nice cold margarita. Its the place to go with your friends, girl friend or boyfriends, your family or you can go on your own for a nice lunch.”

Flamingo Cantina
Jun 16, 2006 by Cat from Los Angeles, CA

Overall Rating: 9 User Rating Score: 9
Food:[10] • Service:[9] • Atmosphere:[10]

  • There's no where else in Austin you can see roots reggae and eat Caribbean food under the stars.
  • Parking close to 6th is terrible.

“Flamingo Cantina is one of my favorite spots to hit when I travel to Austin and the ONLY place I'll even go to on 6th street; it's truly an oasis in the vapid desert of shot bars. I've seen some of the best and intimate (the place only holds several hundred people) reggae shows in my life there including Burning Spear, Morgan Heritage and the Itals. You can be right up in the front and dance with everyone or go upstairs to the patio to chill out under the stars. During big shows Winston is sure to be cooking up his famous jerk chicken/fish and veggies. It's a great place that's been around for a while and never sold out. A must-do while visiting Austin.”

Boulder Creek Coffee House
May 22, 2006 by teresa from san antonio

Overall Rating: 10 User Rating Score: 10
Food:[10] • Service:[10] • Atmosphere:[10]

  • I liked the fact that dogs are welcomed at Boulder Creek.
  • I did detect a slightly doggish smell, one the sun warmed up - to be expected, though, wherever dogs are present.

“I ate breakfast at Boulder Creek following a run on the Greenbelt. I had the most refreshing hibiscus iced tea here, as well as a fantastic Italian omelet. The relaxing, lay-back ambiance added to the delight of the entire experience. When I returned home to San Antonio, I called Boulder Creek to find out where I can get the hibiscus tea I drank there. The owner answered the phone and told me where to find the tea, as well as how she brews it. I will definitely return to this coffee house after my Greenbelt runs from now on!”

Dan's Hamburgers, Inc
Mar 17, 2006 by michael from Austin

Overall Rating: 6 User Rating Score: 6
Food:[9] • Service:[8] • Atmosphere:[1]

  • Great breakfasts, good coffee, good burgers.
  • Stunningly unprofessional and obnoxious behavior by afternoon and evening workers.

“Dan's on North Lamar has been one of my favorite any time restaurants for 20 years, until now. The atmosphere during afternoon and evening shift has been taken over by loud and obnoxious employees. In particular a young black male who appears to spend half his time wandering around the dining area shouting and clowning to the other employees and making cute cracks to female customers. There seems to be no manager present.”

Thai Kitchen
May 7, 2005 by Meredith M . from Austin

Overall Rating: 9 User Rating Score: 9
Food:[10] • Service:[9] • Atmosphere:[8]

  • excellent food, friendly service, GREAT desserts
  • Gets very cold: bring a sweater

“This restaurant is a little secret waiting to be discovered! Thai kitchen's food very from sweet and succulent to hot and hearty. Be careful, because when they say it is spicy it is REALLY spicy. Three of those little red peppers next to the dish mean you will be drinking something cool every other bite! I would recommend for dessert the coconut cups or the mango with sticky rice, but everything is good so you can go wrong!!”
