Sarentos At The Wilderness

• Great wines also.
• Too serious of a bartender. Only once.

“The best calamari and sauce around! We frequent the dells because we have a time share we can use there and are only a couple hours away and my husbands favorite place, as well as mine, for calamari appetizer is at sarentos.”

“Ole Dennis up above must be a Nancy boy! If the beer is cold, and served promptly, its a good bar IMO! Nags are just what it wants to be: a decent local/tourist spot with good food, pool tables, darts etc. I have no complaints, and Ive been coming to the dells since 1995.”

• Service and atmosphere were fine.
• Bland, off-flavored foods.

“I took my 3 teenagers for dinner at the ponderosa. The service was fine. The food was not. Everything from the soda, salad, steak, shrimp, macaroni and cheese, cake, and ice cream either lacked flavor or tasted off. If you like overpriced, low-quality food, you'd love the ponderosa. How disappointing. And an expensive lesson.”

• Bad food; old food. Depressing atmosphere.

“First of all, we are not picky people. My family frequents Old Country Buffet, so you get the idea. The food here was gross and inedible. Hint -- if you walk into a restaurant at noon and there are fewer than 5 people there, you should leave! This place was downright depressing. There were no cooks on staff, so it was obvious they dragged out the food from the previous day. However, I'm sure it was just as bad on that day too.”

“Absolutely the worst food I've ever eaten in my life. Please don't waste your money here. The food has sat on the buffet for hours and is flavorless. I am not that picky and very rarely even complain at restaurants. No one ever bothered to ask us how it was, but it was awful!”

“Think inbred hicks being way over served, and you pretty much have Nig's bar in the Dells. A bunch of local losers along with a bunch of idiot tourists who are fascinated by the name or had someone tell them this is a good place. The beer is cold, and the bartender was prompt, but that's where the good news ends. The chain-smoking, beer swilling clientele make it impossible to enjoy yourself. ”

“My family and I (7 of us) visited the Mexicali Rose in April of 2006. When we entered the restaurant, we were greeted by a foul odor. Although we were concerned, we convinced ourselves that it must be normal and continued to our seat. We were looking forward to enjoying our chips and salsa, however the salsa tasted horrible and the chips were cold and obviously not home made. Still sticking it out, we ordered drinks. The adults ordered the $10 margarita and were very dissatisfied by the fact that it tasted like sour lemon-aide. The last straw was when my sister-in-law opened her menu and found it covered in food. At that point we decided it was time to leave. I approached our waitress and told her that the restaurant smelled, we didn't like the chips, salsa or our drinks and we did not want to even try the food. She did ask if there was anything she could do to make it better, which was the right thing to do, but no thanks! She also did not argue when I declined to accept the bill for our unfinished drinks.”
