“I had lunch at Zeppoli's today, a Friday with a friend/colleague. The food was great - I had the salmon & capers over pasta; my colleague had a sandwich. Food was prepared nicely, served hot, and service was quick and friendly. Cost was under $10 each. Over the years I've had dinner there many times and almost always had a great meal. Today was the first time I'd been there for lunch. I'll definitely go back. My only complaint is that the decor is looking a bit worn, the place could use a little sprucing up.”

“Possibly the worst food I've ever eaten, and not cheap either.”

“The host/hostess situation at Backstreets has been terrible for years. No one greets you and sometimes you just stand there for 10-15 minutes while the servers walk by looking at you and the others standing there waiting. After you are seated, the service may be great or it may be terrible depending on who you get. It really varies. Don't count on drink refills. The pizza is quite good. The quality of the buffet pizzas is far better than pizza hut. The pizzas typically have several toppings and they ensure there are a variety of pizzas. You know the food is good when we locals keep returning despite the service. The lunch buffet is under $5 now, which is a great price.”

“This is one of the few places in town that actually makes good food. They are not a bar; dont try to wow you with how many TVs they have. They just serve great food. I was greeted within 2 minutes of walking in the door, sat in a nice booth. I have tried several of the restaurants in town; TVs and pool tables can not hide frozen food and lack service. Backstreets actually tries and succeeds to be a nice place to eat.”

“Joe's Diner advertises to be open 24 hours but decides to close whenever they please and blames it on their employees. The food is decent but there the only game in town so the service is extremely poor, slow in the kitchen and the ambience is a poor attempt of a 50's diner with a slack paint job. If your trying to use the bathroom you have to deal with the constant interruption because the management is to slack to fix the lock. You can barley read the menus due to the fact that they are photo copies with jam, water, and syrup spilt all over them. This town is in serious need of a Dennys, waffle house, or any breakfast spot other than Joes.”

“Food is served hot, but so is the wine for which they charge an additional $2.00 corking fee read rip off. There are so many little bugs flying around that it makes you wonder if the place is sanitary. .”

“The Restaurant is obviously more of a college bar scene than a restaurant. The "All You Can Eat Wing-Night" is always a favorite of mine for Wednesdays and Sundays. Their salads and appetizers are extraordinary. The burgers and sandwiches are pretty outstanding as well. Overall, the food is relatively cheap and a good value, but the restaurant gets too smoky, too packed with people, and too hot for anyone to enjoy themselves for a dinner after 7pm. The brunch on Saturday/Sunday mornings is also an excellent value. I just hate overcrowded/understaffed restaurants/bars and it takes away from what they really have to offer.”

“Would be a splendid place if not for the pushy attitude of the owner. Wine night is also a rip off, they do not give generous portions and serve "crab cakes", with God knows what in them. Over books the reservations so 30 people are forced to fit into a room for 15. ”

“I dot know what happened with tom, but I have lived in Blacksburg for 20 years, and everyone here knows they have great food and service. If I waited 15 minutes to be greeted I would have gone to a manager, so I think tom is lying through his teeth. Anyways they won best pizza in nerve for 2006 and 2007 in the Roanoke times.”

“Great service and good food. This is the perfect place for both casual nights out and professional meetings. A comfortable environment for any group. Wide selection of entrees and sandwiches to choose from, and nice bar too!”

“The service was horrible. It took those 15 minutes just to see a server for the first time, and they weren't busy. My wife and I ordered the same size strombolli's and mine was half the size of heir¿s. I have always had strombolli's stuffed and this one was almost empty. I will not return to this restaurant ever and I live in Blacksburg.”

“Perfect coffee, great homemade breads and baked goods fresh daily, in a real-feeling environment. a little bohemian, a little style, not pretentious. you'll find no artificially exposed brick here. just real people, talking, reading, playing board games, and enjoying some great food and drink.”

“The owner, I think her name is Stephanie, would not leave my table alone. She was constantly talking bad about her employees, which I really didn't care. I was just trying to enjoy my food. I believe she treats her employees poorly.”
