• Food is delicious!
• Eat too much, then fall asleep at your desk afterwards.

“My co-workers and I go there all the time for lunch and have always had a wonderful experience. The food is ALWAYS delicious, and quite often there are too many good things to choose between. (Thus we eat too much!) But we leave happily. The staff is friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable about the menu/buffet. The big plus. They have healthy choices as well as those that aren't so good for you! I highly recommend!”

• Good food at a good price.
• Forgetful waiter.

“They bring tons of food and it is all good but not excellent. Lots space to stretch out; not like a lot of the BBQ places where you are sitting elbow to elbow. You can hear each other talking, too. Staff very friendly but our waiter forgot the second beer, side salad and brought the appetizers with the meal. Very clean.”

• I love the Garlic cheese bread.
• They do not deliver pizza, dine in or carry out only.

“They have the freshest ingredients. I have seen them slice the pizza toppings themselves. The prices are very reasonable, a large pizza with all the toppings for like $13, pasta's for about $6 and some really good sandwiches about $5. I've been a customer since I was a kid, over 30 years now. It has a sports bar feel, serving beer and wings too, but is always kid friendly having a few arcade games and kid friendly menu too.”

“I have been going to Ellendale's since it was opened & was greatly disappointed when I took my wife there on for their Valentine special. They were unnecessarily crowded. We were seated late then the service went down from there. I was greatly disappointed.”

• Fantastic food, great service.
• Too dark to see, limited parking area.

“Best food ever. Anyone who hasn't go to this place is really missing a great experience, especially if you appreciate good cooking. Great appetizers and entree's. I can't decide what my favorites were! It was too dark to see them! Would have liked to have taken a picture to see it later. Service was excellent and atmosphere was relaxing. It would be great for both a romantic meal or a business one, but business dinner & meeting would be limited to eating & talking, not looking at paperwork due to lack of lighting. Daytime might be better, I ate at night and it was really dark in there.”

• Couldn't stay long enough.

“The Oasis of its kind, this quaint little cafe is just what it says it is. If you want to harkens back to your white trash roots, then do plan an experience there for lunch, especially forth weekend Saturday for Flea Mkt at the Nash. fairgrounds, which is just upt the hill from the cafe. I have made many friends there and am always been made to feel welcome. Any time I pass through Nashville, I will try to make it around lunch and get the type of plate lunch that Grandma would make.”

• Clean setting, hot food, not too over cooked.
• Over priced, $12 to $14 per person, food average, small portions.

“My husband and I went to Swetts to make our own decision. The food was eatable but not what we expected. There were no rich Southern seasonings, only instant potatoes, cornbread that was too sweet made from a bag mix, and canned or frozen bland vegetables. Nothing appeared to be cooked from scratch. Everything came from a wholesale vendor. Pouring a ready made pie mix into a frozen shell is not home made. I am sure when it was run by the first generation of Swetts, it was great! But, not now. If you must have a cafeteria style setting, this is for you. It was clean, but we received no service after we were seated.”

“I found this restaurant to be a good example of Midwest style dining. A good place for friends to meet and eat. A very relaxed atmosphere with excellent and friendly service. We are from the northeast and have quite a few good restaurants here but this was truly a treat for both my wife and I as we were not used to such simple dining with a great western atmosphere. We can't wait to go back. Maybe next time I'll try the wall of fame steak.”

• Smoke.

“Brown's is an institution going back to the 1940's. It was originally a PIE WAGON and it just kept getting added too. Now it's the sabby sheek place you see. If you don't like smoke you'll be turned off, but the burger may be worth putting up with the smoke. A burger to die for. Best in town.”

“The food is a good value for the money. The service in side is slow and several of the ladies at the counter and drive in window are very unfriendly, they act as if they are doing you a favor to wait on you. There is more playing than work going on behind the counter. Place an order to go you better look in the bag because the last 4 out of 5 times my order was missing something. I would try another location.”

• Joe Byrne, Jake, and Jimmy are the best, we just love them.
• Enyaface kind of, they play too fast and you can't understand them.

“I have gone to Mulligan's pub many times and every time it is a place to enjoy. I have never been in the pub without coming out more pleased than when I went in. I love this place and the bands are great and fun to be with.”

• Tasty, unique, cozy dining experience.
• High-end prices, expect $50min per person for 4 courses with drink.

“First time visit, had a dark romantic Paris, France feel to the place without the smoky air. I don't know if it is handicap accessible as you had to go down a flight of stairs. I strongly recommend reservations on Fri and weekends as we got right in while there was a wait for people without reservations. Do not take young children; this is strictly a place for older kids/adults to enjoy. Full boiling pot would also be hazardous for little ones as you cook your food in front of you. I have 2yr old and 8yr old, and would not dream of taking them to this restaurant. Restraint has a strong appeal for females, went with group of 4 women who love the place. I would go again, we had excellent service!”

• Poor Quality of Food, Okay Service, Overpriced for Quality

“We made reservations for a table in the "Piano Room" which was the only saving grace for this dinner. We were in town for our anniversary and Ellendale's had been recommended to us many times. We were disappointed by the quality of the food. My husband's steak was okayed, not very favorable, his side dishes were awful. I had the Cajun chicken pasta and it didn't have any real flavor. The following night we went to a locally owned steak and spaghetti house that was WONDERFUL, the same meal was less than $25. Save your time and money. The entertainment was nice though.”

“The staff was very friendly and the restaurant was very clean and neat. I was there on a Friday, and the catfish was excellent, some of the best I ever had. We sampled the mac and cheese, green beans, white beans and turnip greens and they were all just right (southern style). I would highly recommend this restaurant for a really good meat and three lunch.”

“This is one of the highlights of our yearly vacation to Nashville. The food is such a great value. The prices on the menu include everything you would normally have to pay separate charges (i.e., dessert, salad, and drink). & the portions are huge. The staff is always friendly and accommodating. ”

“After waiting for my food for about an hour, it was cold. I attribute it to the lack of service that we received. Overall we were there for two hours. All the manager could say was sorry the kitchen was behind.”

“This is a great restaurant for those who love Jazz. We sat in the lounge and had a wonderful dinner and listened to live Jazz. The wine was awesome, the food presentation was top notch. I can't wait to go back.”

I've never walked out of Milligan's without being glad I went there. Food is beside the point. People say it's decent. I'm learning the words to dozens of Irish songs.”

• I like the booths & how the food is cooked in front of you.
• It is expensive but worth it.

“I have been about 5 times and I would love to go again. It is fun how they take your picture & give it to you. I love the cheese, fruit and the dessert wine. Not to mention all of the chocolate desserts to pick from. My cousin has a gift card to use there & she is wanting me to go with her & I can't wait. I tried to order a gift card and for some reason it never came but I will go back again. It's perfect.”

“Swetts is a local institution owned by the same African-American family for over 40 years. They specialize in southern home cooking served on a cafeteria style line. The ambiance is typical for this type of restaurant while the food is way above average. This restaurant attracts a real cross section of the city. For example, the Chief of the Nashville police department was there on my recent visit. ”

• The food is great
• the rest is not making up for it.

“The food is fabulous, no doubt about it. Definitely overpriced. The place smells really bad but that is probably because of the type of cooking they do. Not family-friendly at all. No changing tables in the restrooms, very tide corridors, dirty sits. But that would not be all bad if the staff was not so arrogant and careless. It is good for a romantic evening or a casual business meeting, but noting else.The wine list is impressive but the servers know nothing about it.”

• Coffee was good. Waiter was excellent. Salad was good.

“My daughter in law's steak was over cooked. She ordered med rare and received well done. The "hand formed" hamburger steak looked like it had been a fast food hamburger that was flattened even more. My wife's pepper steak was like chewing rubber. I have been to the Nashville and Lebanon locations and received excellent food, and will go to them again, but I doubt I will return to the Hendersonville location.”

• great food, great service, great atmosphere, Mario is larger than life
• the evening has to end.....

“Mario's is truly a world class dining experience. The food, service, atmosphere and presentation is perfect. I can't think of anything I would change. At the perfect time at the end our meal, Mario came to our table and brought us a shot of grappa. What fun. Mario's is much better than NYC Italian restaurants that cost twice as much.

I could go anywhere in the country and I'm going to Marios this week for my birthday.”
