Essen Haus
Jun 8, 2009 by Trina from Madison

Overall Rating: 1 User Rating Score: 1
Food:[1] • Service:[10] • Atmosphere:[5]

  • Fun, friendly atmosphere.
  • Disgusting food.

“The food is terrible. I can't believe I went there again. It has been bad for years, but we thought we'd try it again. Everyone was disgusted with the food. Not a good German restaurant. Not a good restaurant of any kind. It is too bad, because it does have a fun, friendly atmosphere. I suggest they hire a professional chef.”

Sa Bai Thong Thai Restaurant
Sep 5, 2008 by C from Chicago

Overall Rating: 2 User Rating Score: 2

  • Good selection.
  • Service, prices, greedy management.

“Our waitress was incredibly snotty. I ordered pork larb and it's supposed to be spicy. It comes to me with a mountain of chili flakes on top instead of it being cooked in. (I can make it) that alone, ruined the food. It didn't come with rice, so I had to pay extra for that. It also didn't come with lettuce except for a greasy, soggy piece underneath the meat. It is a salad. It is supposed to come with lettuce, other wise I would just be eating a plate of meat! I asked the waitress for lettuce and she acted like it was the most outrageous, unusual demand ever. Her attitude was condescending and horrible. She comes back and tells me I need to pay three dollar for lettuce. By this time, I'm so mad but I just wanted to eat my meal. My extra veggies were three tall, but slender pieces and some cucumbers. They had no soap in the bathroom, so I'm left wondering if the wait staff doesn't wash their hands after using the toilet. Overall, this place used to be fantastic three years ago. But, I will never go again and I strongly do not recommend this place unless you're going for an over priced.”

Edgewater Hotel
May 12, 2008 by Mark from Cross Plains

Overall Rating: 3 User Rating Score: 3
Food:[3] • Service:[1] • Atmosphere:[8]

  • The prime rib.
  • Everything else.

“Mother's Day Buffet - May 11, 2008 food quality and variety has declined while the cost has risen. There was nothing on the menu to justify the price. I was expecting the type of high quality food I'm used to getting at the Edgewater. This was not as good as Old Country Buffet. After the initial drinks were served, we had to flag down our waiter for each refill, ended up stacking our own plates to make room, and generally did not feel the 18% gratuity for our party of 7 was justified for a buffet with little waiter service. Cold soggy bacon, under cooked sausage, no breads or pastries, extremely marginal salad station and lukewarm, soggy, and unoriginal main dishes. (Except for the Prime rib and some of the bacon wrapped artichoke hearts - some were wrapped in cold, raw bacon and inedible).”

Kabul Afghnstan Mdtrrnean Rest
Feb 9, 2008 by Food Junkie

Overall Rating: 4 User Rating Score: 4
Food:[7] • Service:[1] • Atmosphere:[2]

  • Food.
  • Service.

“My husband and I went to Kabul for dinner. For the seating hostess and waitress, only my husband was sitting at our table. The only time they addressed me was to take the order for dinner. They would come, fill my husband's teas, take away his plates, ask what he wanted etc. and I just didn't exist. In fact they would come, face my husband, talk to him and leave. My husband had to indicate that I was there too. So overall our experience there ranged from embarrassing to humiliating and I would not recommend this restaurant.”

Sa Bai Thong Thai Restaurant
Sep 7, 2007 by Karen from Madison

Overall Rating: 3 User Rating Score: 3
Food:[3] • Service:[2] • Atmosphere:[2]

  • Made me learn to make my own Thai.
  • Everything.

“Seeing as Madison does not have any good Thai restaurants, Sai Bai gets away with surviving due to lack of competition. I have lived in cities with really good Thai food and can hardly stomach this restaurant. I have given it two chances and on both occasions the restaurant screwed up my order, the food was suboptimal, and the restaurant seats were sticky.”

Ginza Of Tokyo
Oct 4, 2006 by Alice

Overall Rating: 10 User Rating Score: 10
Food:[10] • Service:[9] • Atmosphere:[9]

  • Food, atmosphere, service.
  • Price.

“The Ginza restaurant downtown is the best out of the three locations in the city. The green dragon roll is the best on the menu, in my opinion. The fried ice cream is also really delicious. I would recommend this to anyone who loves sushi or is afraid to try sushi and wants a good first experience. I love this restaurant.”

Pizza Pit
Jan 13, 2006 by Chris from Madison

Overall Rating: 9 User Rating Score: 9
Food:[10] • Service:[9] • Atmosphere:[6]

  • Awesome food.
  • Inside of restaurants not very appealing.

“While the pizza pits around here may not have the best atmosphere, nor the cleanliest restaurants, their pizza is by far some of the best in town. Their menu is fairly big, and everything is reasonably priced, especially if you have a coupon. I've always gotten good service from the people working there. Overall, highly recommended .”

Culvers
Feb 1, 2005 by Robert B . from Shawano

Overall Rating: 7 User Rating Score: 7
Food:[7] • Service:[7] • Atmosphere:[5]

  • Food high end for fast food. great frozen custard, clean comfortable dining area, clean restrooms

“Of fast food emporiums, I find the Culvers at the top end of the spectrum. The butter burgers are served hot and are tasty. The frozen custard is great. Vanilla, chocolate and a flavor of the day. Prices are reasonable and servings generous. Menu includes salads, other sandwiches and the usual deep fried stuff. A Wisconsin chain, spreading out into adjoining states.”
