• Good location.
• Do not seat until your entire party has arrived and then from that point your wait starts for a table.

“The place is old, when it is busy parking is challenging at best, there are so many other places in a 15 minute drive that are much better, cleaner, and fresher food.”

“The outside of the Diner is horrible, the grass is completely disastrous. When I went in the Diner there was blond haired lady at the register who seemed a bit annoyed that we were there. She brought us to a table and quickly walked away. The Waitress on the other hand was very vivacious and eager to take our order.”

“I have traveled through and been to the diner twice with family from the area. Both times I had deeply unsatisfactory meals and felt that the service, in particular, was very brash, and even a bit rude. The most recent visit, I had a soup that was lukewarm, at best, and my hamburger was undercooked. I asked to send the burger back and was treated as if I had just committed a major crime. A short man who identified himself as the owner came out of the kitchen and told me that's how I ordered it and there was nothing that he could do. I was taken aback and he continued to talk down to me as I argued about my meal. I finally left without payment and without a meal, and told them I was going to write a letter of complaint to the Better Business Bureau and they told me to do my best, as it wouldn't amount much. I really couldn't believe what I was hearing and I would strongly advise against anyone attending that establishment.”

• Staff was great. Clean, family oriented.
• Needs doors for small private parties.

“Dining there was great especially with 4 kids under 7. I had a communion party there and the service was great the food was impeccable and I was beyond happy with everything. I just booked another party their again in the new location and I just know it will be wonderful.”

• Great menu that continues to add more and more delicious dishes.

“I have gone to the Paradise Diner for many years and really enjoy their food. They always have something different on the menu that was always good. I not only enjoy the food but I really enjoy their friendly staff. I have had many family dinners and recently had my son's christening there and it was excellent. Service and food was great!”

“This restaurant has really improved over the years, however I have always enjoyed coming to this dinner to eat. Everyone has always been friendly and I have never had a complaint about the food. It seems very family oriented and I was very impressed with the quick receive of food. Overall the restaurant was a great place to eat.”

“The place was over packed and the food was horrible! I mean honestly I've had better steaks at a dinner or the hospital. I've been to the Ruth Chris and anyone who has ever been there would know what a amazing steak taste's like. This place steaks came out slightly cold and hard on the outside? The crispy onions where soggy and cold. They told me no problem they would fix it and there were very sorry, all they did was throw the same ones back into the deep-fryer so now they were dark and burn? After the meal, they saw no look of satisfaction on my face. I hate this place. Beware of pace's is all I can say!”

“The waiter was very rude,not once did he ever come to the table to ask if everything was okay. He took our order and gave us the bill which was the only time we saw him. There are too many servers serving the table. The food was okay,some side dishes were served cold when they should have hot. I guess they really don't care about customer service.”

• That I cant afford it everyday.

“I love Kotobuki. I literally go 2x a week. It is so extremely fresh and delicious. The people are friendly, service is great. There is always someone walking around that is willing to help you. My favorite rolls are Crazy Tuna, Spicy Tuna, and Crazy Slamon. You must get their Chilean Sea Bass and Sautead fried Oysters Enjoy and don't complain about the wait”

• Color on the bathroom wall.
• Old dusty, the salad was atrocious like it was sitting out for hours and had no flavor out mostly the sauce was terrible for a so called Italian restaurant.

“Way too much money, the salad was old soggy wilt warm and really bad uneatable and it only had one piece of tomato on it, no onion, cucumber, olives, nothing, it was slimy on the mouth, not crunchy fresh and crispy like it should be chilled from the fridge and the dressing was so bland, terrible sauce was terrible.”

“The Port Jefferson location has on 2 occasions had very poor service especially on how they seat their guests. The latest time, we placed a reservation on a Tuesday for a party of 9 coming there on Saturday night at 7:30 pm. The room was already over crowded as it was before the table was placed there. The table they wanted us (8 adult males) to sit in was made for maybe 6 at the most. (we actually had a party of 8, 1 person was unable to attend) After complaining several times to the staff that the table was way too small, a manager told us he did not have a larger table. So, basically not only did they fail to honor our reservation and seat us at a table for us to eat on and be comfortable, but they continued to lie to us for 15 minutes, only to finally do something about the situation after we said we were leaving the restaurant. We did in fact leave and went to a different restaurant that actually respects their customers and not just jam them in a room, just to make money. I have eaten at several high end steakhouses and Pace's does not hold up to their claim, which is a high end steakhouse. Bottom line, Pace's Steakhouse has a nice atmosphere and good food, but for what you will pay for eating there, a customer should expect a certain level of service and comfort. They fail to do that.”

• Food was only average when I was there.

“I was not at all impressed by the food here. The restaurant advertising claims 'the best Italian restaurant on Long Island'. I found the food to be average. The dish I had tasted almost like Chinese Food the sauce was so sweet and sugary. The signature appetizer 'antipasto' sandwich was unique but didn't live up to the hype. This was not one of the better $30 lunches I've eaten. The waiter I had was great ... he was in a formal suit and really knew the menu and was a good conversationalist. One of the most professional waiters from Italy I have had. Maybe the chef was on vacation when I ate here ... its worth a try based on the ability of the waiters alone.”

• You won't find better food anywhere.
• If you aren't a regular, you feel as though you are not wanted.

“This is a GREAT restaurant. But the catch is you have to be a regular. If you are not a regular you will be made to wait for an hour at the bar while others walk in and are seated before you. You can bet that you will be overcharged for items you order. The wait staff will rush you in and out. If you are a regular this place makes you feel like family. You will get a lot of slaps on the back, smiles and jokes and occasionally free drinks. If you aren't a regular the overcharges and uncomfortable feelings you get are worth it because you won't find better Italian food outside New York City. The chefs ought to have a statue built to them. And the bartender is one of the nicest guys in the world.”

“I absolutely love Kotobuki in Hauppauge. By far the best Japanese and Sushi restaurant within 20 square miles. The food is excellent, the decor is authentic and the service is wonderful. The only issue I have is that upon my last visit in early Feb 08, with some colleagues, I noticed a roach crawling up the wall. We were partially through our meal, and I didn't want to make an issue of it since the restaurant was very busy as usual, however I will have second thoughts about eating their again.”

“Wow! That is the best word to describe this wonderful restaurant. The food was outstanding from appetizer to dessert. My meal started off with perfectly prepared tuna tartar, this dish was made with the absolute freshest fish equal to the highest quality sushi restaurant. Then my tri-color salad was crisp and delightful, it came with fresh bacon, homemade balsamic dressing and some fancy upscale aged cheese, what a culinary combination. For my entree I enjoyed one of chef Hal Goldman's specials. It was a perfectly prepared entree called the Thai Fish Pot. This dish was sweet but yet slightly spicy and it came with huge shrimp, clams, mussels, scallops, and the fish of the day striped bass all tossed in soba noodles over fresh spinach. This dish really hit home for me it was original, creative, and fantastic. For me it tasted like it was prepared by one of those food network chef's you see on TV. As for the service my waitress was informative, polite, and proper. She always kept my water filled and suggested the most original and flavorful martini's I have seen such as the Caramel Apple Martini. This place has an atmosphere fit for a king. While dining at this restaurant you feel like a Hollywood Star eating at the most upscale eatery!”

“I cannot say enough good things about this place. I am obsessed and I have tried so many things on the menu and everything is better than the next. I have convinced New York city big shot sushi goers that this is the best they have ever had. It really is the best sushi ever! I love it! And I was never a fan of sushi. This is quality and so great for the amount you pay.”

“Went to Marios for a party the service was the worst ever had open bar and bartender was not there all the time he was the waiter also. When we would ask for a drink we were told he was busy. Family spent a lot of money for party and it was very bad would never recommend Marios to anyone.”

• Sushi is by far the freshest, tuna melts in your mouth.
• I can't afford to go every day!

“Hands down the best on the island! You just have to deal with the crowds of people, and yes it is worth the weight! Tuna and avacado! Yummy fresh is an understatement! You will be very happy with your choice, as long as you have the patience to wait. Worth the ride.”

• Rib eye steak was as good as any I have had anywhere.
• There was a wait at times but worth it.

“I ate there on the weekends for the dinner meal on a regular basis for several months. The food, service, and the extensive menu were excellent. In addition they catered to a diverse clientèle, from the after theater crowd, to the special occasion, to the younger after movie set. I would highly recommend it to anyone who wants a pleasant dining experience.”

“Kotobuki has the best sushi on long island and possibly anywhere. The fish is incredibly fresh and service is prompt. There's almost always a wait, though--the only drawback but the food is well worth waiting for. Restaurant recently underwent a makeover and it's very nicely done inside. Modern Japanese with natural elements. Highly, highly recommended!”

• The food is good and prepared right in front of you.
• You must have a reservation.

“The Gasho is a unique dining experience. The chefs bring out the food and cook it on the grill right at your table. They do tricks which are entertaining, especially for children. The food is excellent and reasonably priced. ”

• Easy access on to the main road.
• No ambiance or warmth.

“The outside of the diner is shabby. There is no landscaping and in the small garden at the entrance there were some dead bushes but it was mostly overgrown with weeds. Not a very good first impression. The inside was maintained and appeared clean, but the reception I received was not all the inviting. A portly man acknowledged me, waved me to follow him - he dropped a menu on the table and walked away. I never saw his face, he never made eye contact with me. The food arrived in a reasonable time, however the order was incorrect. The salad had a fair amount of wilted lettuce which was covered excessively in dressing. (I had asked for dressing on the side). Overall the food was nothing special. From the poorly kept outside, to the less than enthusiastic greeting, with the food being just OK, I would not recommend this diner as there are many others nearby that offer more.”

• Where it is located you might drive right past it on RT 347. The diner is set back off the road.

“First, this diner is no longer known as the dive "Hidden Pond Diner." It is the brilliantly updated "Hauppauge Palace Diner." My first impression is how spotless this diner is. The food is delicious and plentiful. There is an extensive selection of menu items and it is extremely affordable. The food is consistently fresh, hot, and very tasty. If you are in the area, please do give it a try. I assure you that you will not be disappointed. ”

• Very accommodating to large groups and families with children.
• Dim lighting.

“This is our favorite restaurants around. Almost all of our family occasions take place at Palce's. The wait staff is polite and accommodating, the service is impeccable, and the food is out of this world. The bar staff is knowledgeable and friendly, and the wine list is quite complete. We have been to many steakhouses, chains or otherwise, and we always go back to Palce's.”

• The food and "show" are amazing.
• The building could use some updating.

“This is a hibachi restaurant. If you have never been to one before you, along with other diners, eat around a steel cooktop in the dining room where Hibachi Chef's come and prepare your meals right before your eyes. It is served hot and fresh right off the table to your plate. My family has been going for years. It is a very family friendly restaurant and very entertaining too as the chefs joke about and perform tricks in front of you. The food quality has always been excellent. The restaurant could use some sprucing up. The value is a defininte plus considering you are getting much more than just great food but a "show" as well. It is a must see bring the family and have some fun. I would recommend reservations.”
