• Excellent food and service and very clean.
• Parking but worth the time.

“I stop by at least once a week and order for lunch I have never had a bad meal the food is very tasty and the staff is probably the friendliest I have ever experienced. The store is very clean and looks great since they remodeled. Definitely a place to eat at with your family.”

“It's a tradition to go to Salas' on my birthday in January, this will be the 26th year! As locals we never hit Newport in the summer but it's free and clear in January. The wait staff is the same ladies who served me as a kid and know when we come in now it's my birthday. The food is so affordable and very good. The seafood is always fresh. The oriental spaghetti is a favorite of many friends and family. The checkered table cloths add to that family restaurant feel. The owners are Armenian I believe but do a great job with all kinds of cusine! Kids are always welcome, I have a 2 year old and she comes along. The wait can be longer for a big table since there are only about 5 tables in the whole place.”

“While hoping to avoid tourist trap restaurants in Newport I initially thought Sardella's would fit the bill. I was sorely mistaken. Some items were so bland while other items were so over-spiced with garlic (this coming from a garlic lover); it was as though the food was coming from different restaurants. The portions seemed decent, except for the entree specials, which were way over-priced. The shrimp brochette appetizer was pretty bad -- the shellfish were like rubber. The ambiance was horrendous: loud, crowded and sweltering hot. And, in spite of the sweltering heat, the restaurant had lit some of their kerosene portable heaters and had the fireplace going! The service was especially horrible; long after our appetizers were finished my party and I virtually languished, waiting for the entrees to arrive. When we asked the waitperson -- when we could get her attention, and who seemed more than put out that she had to work that evening -- about the wait we were told that the restaurant was hosting several parties, as if that was a satisfactory excuse to let other paying customers sit around and wait indefinitely. And if you have a question about an item on the menu, forget it! You really got a good helping of attitude with your answer! Oh, and try to get a glass of water to help slake your thirst in the sweltering heat -- forget that, too! It seems to me that Sardella's could do something to be a little more customer friendly and plan their seating a little better. Thankfully, my guests are long-suffering. As for me, I am pretty patient when it comes to restaurants, as I eat out frequently. Rather then write a bad review I will generally give a restaurant at least a second chance. My experience at Sardella's was so unfavorable that I felt compelled to write a review.”

“I've been coming here for years - the pizza is one of the two best in town. They specialize also in Greek side-orders and sandwiches. Most people order take out but there are tables inside. It's not a restaurant in my opinion, but a straight pizza parlor run by a local family.”

“Great food and great music later, we had a really good time with a mixed crowd not too many young or old. We love to visit Newport and will make sure to extend our next visit to say longer and enjoy the club even more.”

• Food great, people great, and very entertaining to be at Pasta Beach.
• Bathroom. Needs to be remolded.

“Great little place. Fantastic food. Great service. The wait staff and the chefs were riot to watch. It was so amazing to watch them all in action. They should have there own little TV show! They were funny, nutty and talented.”

• Seafood Platter, clams casino and lobster.
• No atmosphere, walking past the bar downstairs.

“The food is delicious and the service is exceptional! Want a good laugh, have a drink at the upstairs bar, the bartenders are a hoot. However, there is absolutely no atmosphere! No music and it is very dark and dreary! If it weren't for the food and staff, I would not return.”

“We were a bit late for our reservation, but our large group was seated right when we got there. The waitress was amazing and so polite; she almost immediately came to get our drink orders and was sure to let us know she was bringing water too. She clearly told us the specials and their prices, and once we had ordered she immediately brought us a basket of bread. As soon as we'd get through one, she'd bring over another one within seconds. The only thing was- the bread was a bit hard on the outside- too hard for me to bite into so I suspected it was a bit stale. She brought us a pitcher of water without us even asking! Our food came at perfect timing and mine was delicious! Then she brought a dessert plate for the birthday girl and it also was delicious! Overall, a reasonable price for a high quality experience.”

“Owner is extremely rude as is his wait staff. Never experience such rudeness at any Newport Restaurant. Go elsewhere. The experience took away from what could have been a decent dining evening.”

• The food. Enough said.
• Busy so check went slow.

“They were busy but we got our table in like 2 minutes. It was a Friday night at that. We tried the boneless wing and potato skin sampler and both were great. For the entrees, my husband got some burger which he liked. It was stacked high with fresh toppings. I ordered the fish n chips. I have to admit, the fish was quite possibly the best I have ever had. The breading was not too thick and was seasoned perfectly. Amazing! The only complaint we had was that due to them being busy we had to wait a while for our check and it to be processed. Great find!”

“I've been going to Salas (upstairs) since the 1970's. It is a wonderful family friendly restaurant. The prices are great when you're on a budget (which was the case when my family was stationed in Newport). Their oriental spaghetti is the best, as well as the lobster and clambakes. There are many wonderful, romantic restaurants in Newport; however, we always find our way back to Salas every year and are never disappointed.”

“Three out of the six people from my dinner party became sick off the lobster ravioli. When I called the general manager to give him a heads up he became defensive and questioned my integrity. I will never give this restaurant my business again. On top of making me sick we waited 45 minutes with a reservation and waited another 30 minutes before a waitress came over to our table to take our drink order!”

“Coconut shrimp appetizer good-soups not-French onion. Not rich enough chicken good-better if served with grilled pineapple. Waitress never brought us complimentary popcorn nor did she tell us about sweet potato choice. Another waitress close by provided that choice to her customers. Would not return since there are so many other great places.”

“There are 5 in our family and we all ate the rolls except the salmon so it had to be that. Very nice people in the restaurant but that don¿t make up for poor fish. We won't go back.”

• It can be a little crowded at busy times.

“Great coffee, delicious food and reasonable prices, not too mention the beautiful wait staff!! This is a wonderful small cafe tucked away in the Perry mill building, located directly across the street from the "Red Parrot restaurant at the corner of Thames Street and Memorial Boulevard. They serve a great mix of sandwiches, soups, and baked goods. ”

• I like the ambiance, the candlelight was lovely.
• I sat for a bit in the bar...a bit stuffy.

“Finest dining experience in Newport!!! We had a wonderful meal, nice and slow and the service was excellent!! The New England Clam Chowder is the best I've ever had. Will go back the next time I am in Newport”

“A unique and charming dining experience. The perfect combination of fine dining and comfort foods. I highly recommend the lobster, but I am sure nothing will disappoint. A great place to celebrate a special occasion.”
