“Creative cooking with educated and palatable specials, comfort food and tasty sweets. Friendly and casual service that meets our needs every time we go. Great quality at excellent prices. Nice margaritas and deliciously interesting daily specials. Don't let the full parking lot detour you, find a spot around back, any wait is worth it.”

“Maybe I'm just spoiled because we have such great Mexican food here in Texas, but the food was very disappointing. I had the vegetarian tamales & my husband had the blue corn enchilada. Neither one tasted like there was any seasoning at all. The rice (watery, flavorless) & beans (crusty & dry) were so bad we both left them on our plate. We didn't try the margaritas, but hope they are better than the food!”

“This little drive through stand has some of the best fast New Mexican fare around. I go to Santa Fe a few times a year and this is always a place to stop for lunch. You can drive through or walk up and sit at one of their tables under the carport cover. The food is a good value the burritos are large and very tasty. The hot red is quite spicy and very good. The green is green and spicy. Good staff every time.”

“I must say that this one was well deserved. The food was fair. But it was not good enough to justify the price. The lady who showed my date and I to our table was extremely rude. When we arrived, when asking for a restroom, and when leaving she was not nice. I requested a rose to be left at the table, and after calling and asking if I should drop one off I was informed that they would take care of it for me. This was a relief. I reminded them that I just wanted a single rose, with nothing frilly. We arrived to a fancy rose in a vase, with the baby's breath and what not. The bread which was brought out had obviously been sitting around for a while since it was cold and hard. Only once was my glass refilled, and then after about 15 minutes of waiting. It goes without saying that I will not be coming here again. Especially considering that Pranzos is cheaper, has much better atmosphere and service, and is better tasting.”

“Outrageously priced for what it is. You're paying for the legend nothing more. Save your money and have dinner out 2 nights instead of one here.”

“My favorite new mex-mex joint in town, unbelievable margarita list, the best Carne Adovada always hopping.”

“Just finished a horrible meal. Overcooked duck breast, swimming in a raspberry sauce. The sides accompanying vegetables seemed not only mismatched, but were improperly cooked. My companions dinner was an elk loin, the loin itself was tasty, but the snap peas were overcooked, and the sweet potatoes were like paste. Our quail appetizer was dry, and the tips on the lettuce served with it were brown. Dessert was a very bland almond cake, with an equally bland caramel sauce (which I didn't know was possible). The atmosphere was unremarkable, and the acoustics bad. At times the laughter at a close by table was enough to make me want to hold my ears.”

“We went after seeing this restaurant advertised. Sounded casual, funky and with good food. Maybe we went on a very bad off night (a Friday), but the food was exceptionally bad. The sauce on the chicken sandwich was overwhelmingly strong, and my partner became ill immediately after eating. My fish and chips were also very poor quality. The French fries were "o.k." but the fish was thickly crusted (little fish, mostly crust) and tasted as though they might have been perhaps even re fried in old grease. The wait staff was pleasant enough and service was o.k., but we have definitely put this on a "never again" list for our future visits to Santa Fe. Hope someone else has a much better experience than we did.”

“I went to the Ore House the first time with a friend for drinks/chips-salsa. Service was okay, but had to ask for my change back ($8 out of 40). I left the tip to the two musicians who were playing on the patio, instead of the waiter! Anyway, the tray with 5 salsas and chips was an interesting taste test, and the margarita was good. I went back twice more with the group I was with. The quesadilla I had for lunch with 3 other colleagues was really good, but the filet mignon I had the next evening for dinner was excellent! The waitress was experienced and served our large group (about 10) very efficiently and was friendly. However, my dinner, with one margarita and salad, was $53 total. It was worth it!”

“I had two tacos made with beef cheeks. Not a lot of food for the money ($12), but excellent in taste. Prices ranged from about $10 to $50, I think, for each entree. Members of my group mostly liked it--the enchiladas were liked by two who ordered, and not at all by one. Some sort of beef skewers were gobbled down by the only male in the group, and a unique salad of some sort were greatly enjoyed by the last in my group. I think you have to be a food connoisseur to enjoy some of the restaurants in Santa Fe staffed by real chefs! You get beautiful presentation and often excellent food if you have the palate for it. It's not for the McD and Wendy's type of eater. We (my group of six teaching professionals) were seated at the community table which was then filled with 5 more travelers, which was interesting. We liked that, as we conversed with people from other parts of the USA. Overall, a neat restaurant to visit.”

“Evangelo's is a living history, and I recommend those interested in history to visit and have a drink while listening to the music. Behind the bar are 3 large photos with dozens of smaller ones around them. They are of Angelo, the original owner, and his family. The bartender/owner is one of Angelo's 3 sons. Angelo is the WWII soldier pictured on the 37 cent stamp from 2002. He was also featured in a TIME publication, and he is happy to discuss this between bartending. Truly a living history! (And the best Marguerite I had while in Santa Fe). The prices are very reasonable compared to other places. Evangelo's has different music on different nights (live band, jam sessions--impromptu, etc.). Check it out, it even rocks on Sundays!”

“Any restaurant can have a bad day, but this was the worst restaurant experience of my dining life. Between forgotten drinks and appetizers, the dishes we were served did not in any way resemble the order we placed. The "icing on the cake" was when my husband was served a small (think chicken tender sized) portion of meat/mostly fat on a skewer when he had ordered the 15 oz rib eye. The manager was extremely apologetic and we were not required to pay for any of our meal, which was great since the only thing we ate was the complimentary bread and the fried avocado appetizer which showed up last. This appetizer was by far the ONLY positive experience in our meal, other than the atmosphere. If you go here, be ready to pay a lot (which I don't mind if it's worth it) and hopefully the service and food is better when you go Good luck, I won't be back!”

“3 of us met there for coffee and to discuss a little business. My colleagues ordered a latte, iced coffee, orange juice and a croissant. I didn't order as I had previously eaten. The first owner told me "this isn't an office and you're being rude by not ordering anything". The second owner came by and explained that because I didn't order anything, we were all being forced to leave. Imagine. We were the only patrons in the cafe, and after offering to buy something so that we could continue our meeting, we were told that they wouldn't sell anything to us, and to get out. The attitude and way we were treated certainly left an impression. Not Good.”

“Prior to this we have had lunch there and it was fine. We recently had dinner there and the dinner menu is totally different from the lunch menu. It was quite bad and way overpriced! Sweet pork for tacos, fish wrapped in banana leaves that tasted like they had been wrapped in grass clippings. They cannot pull off their chic menu. Stick to breakfast and lunch.”

“Great memories of the place and company, "Pam" amazing terrace in winter when the plaza is snowed to seat there and have a great lunch al fresco. Great fireplace inside for a nice dinner with friends. Very nice food and atmosphere.”

“Loved the restaurant! We ate at many Mexican restaurants while in New Mexico and this is definitely one of the best. The quesadillas with shrimp and avocado are especially good.”

“We ate lunch at Tortilla Flats last summer (2005). Not too impressed with its interior decor, but the food was outstanding! The servings were quite large. We had been traveling all morning and decided a margarita was needed with lunch. Get this. The margaritas were served in something like a tall iced tea glass. The margaritas are large and very good. We went back the next morning before leaving Santa Fe and ate breakfast there. Again, we were not disappointed. Great food. The service could be a bit quicker and the decor looks about like a Shoney's or an O'Charley's. However, we would definitely go back and eat there again when in Santa Fe.”

“Chef Martin Rios left the Old House Restaurant in the spring of 2006. He was replaced by Paul Wade. We had dinner there in July 2006 and the food was terrible. My sauce on my wife's beef was so salty that it was almost inedible. My glazed duck was tough as leather. The service was poor; the bread arrived at the same time as the main course. Each of the two main courses were $32. We could not send them back because we had to leave for the opera. The Old House was our favorite pre-opera dinner restaurant for many years. We do not plan to eat there again.”

“Don't believe what you read about his place. After seeing many positive reviews I decided to give it a try. The meal started off with bland, overly salty store-bought chips. No good Mexican restaurant does this. The food was mediocre and overpriced. You can have as good, or better, at any number of places. The waitress was friendly but inattentive. In a town of much better fare, give this one a wide berth. ”

“Went on New Year's Eve without reservations and were seated at the community table. If you don't mind being social, this is a fun way to meet other travelers and exchange recommendations. We had zucchini or chard enchiladas with cilantro rice excellent, organic food. The drinks were a little pricey $9 for a small glass of champagne, but overall the place was great. ”

“We have been going to the Plaza restaurant for years. The people, food, and atmosphere is always great. We love having breakfast at the Plaza. We try to go to Santa Fe at least once and hopefully twice a year and seeing Daniel, who always remembers us and the rest of the staff is something special. You will be glad you ate at the Plaza.”

My wife and I are thinking about making a special trip back to Santa Fe just for the ribs! ”

“Great food and friendly service for this Bwerery-Pub. Was kind-a hard to find as it was in a shopping center complex but we ate here the majority of time that we were visiting Santa Fe.”

“We were seated promptly but were never waited on. Finally flagged the greeter down and she said someone would be right there. 30 minutes went by and just as we were ready to get up to leave, a waiter finally came by to get our order. After we got our steak order, the steaks were so tough that we had a hard time eating them. we would have sent them back but were afraid of another long wait. And.....to top it all off, we had a hard time even getting a beer! I wouldn't reccomend this restaurant to anyone visiting Santa Fe...... there are plenty other better restaurants in town. This was our only bad eating experience in Santa Fe.”

“After several trips over the years, I'm still in awe of Vanessies. Seems as though Vanessies is from a warmer, friendlier era. Their Bloody Mary's are A+ and all the other cocktails and steaks are first class. Try the Onion Loaf with any meal.”
