“I've been a customer for over 40 years. They are known for their cheese steaks, though other sandwiches are equally good. However, expansion has not served them well. Their home store is their Lancaster Avenue location. But their satellite stores are quite inconsistent. Recently, I've been frequenting their Morgantown Road location, where some sandwiches barely have any meat in them. Tonight's sandwiches weren't warm enough to melt the cheese.”

“This was such a waste of money and time! The Windsor Inn was a big disappointment for my husband and me. The food was the worst we have had in a very long time and the service left a lot to be desired.”

“The food was not better than the Arbor Inn. A perfect fillet, great sauces, impressive wine list, attentive service. EXCELLENT FOOD.”

“I really enjoy this place. Great steak! (The appetizers are quite fun too!) My wife enjoys her meal to. One of few places we go back to. Simple fare, Not expensive. Love it! Been back 6 times? Maybe more.”

“Canal Street bombed out on Mother's Day in more ways than one. I have been to Canal Street a couple of times in the past, and was very surprised at the decline of food and service. The food was cold or empty. The staff at the omelets station needed a refresher course on making a basic omelets. The dessert table appeared to have been hit by a bomb and was not refreshed or cleaned. The host was disinterested in his duties and the waiter staff unorganized. Canal Street a simple brunch, that dinners do every Sunday, seemed beyond your abilities. Leave them to the professionals.”

“Amazing food. Can't find many other restaurants other than Henry's Cafe in Pottstown and The Columbia in Phoenixville that are better. The food is freshly made and the man at the bar is an excellent host. Wonderful times at this restaurant.”

“The food could not be better and the portion size is impressive. It does get crowded on weekends, but this does not impact the service. We just have one great meal after another.”

“Go here on occasion when I visit the outlets. I must say the food has gone down hill. The wait is tremendous and prices for the quality you get are too high. This is a typical chain sandwich shop. Help does not wipe hands, etc. in between handling money and food.”

“My family and I stopped in for breakfast. We were seated for about ten minutes before the waitress took our order. Waited another half an hour for the food, meanwhile my daughter found she had gotten a dirty glass with her milk. The food arrived and my wife's waffle was stone cold. This is the second or third time that I've been disappointed with the restaurant. Just a piece of advice that will definitely help: loose the filthy carpet and put in something that doesn't hide the dirt, go non-smoking completely, make cleanliness your number one priority including the restrooms. When the floors, tables, and restroom are emalculently clean it always impresses people.”

“High-end food served with care in a cozy setting set Frank and Diannah's Arbor Inn apart. From the home-made bread, to the perfectly balanced sweet and spicy mussel appetizer, to the wonderful light garden salad with perfectly mixed Asian vinaigrette, to any one of a good number of perfectly prepared entrees, you will not be disappointed. As of February 2008, a nice dinner for two with a couple of drinks each and dessert will set you back about $120 with tip. Well worth the visit!”

“Food is so delicious here! Desserts are to die for. Not cheap food, but it's fine dining not the local olive garden!”

“I was greeted by a hostess with her top zipped so low; I could see the tattoos on each of her breasts. Not something I cared for when eating breakfast and having my kids with me. Others seated after us, got their orders taken before us. Finally my wife asked for a waitress and one came over. We got our order. We were never told that there was a weekend special which irked me. We did her other waitresses tell their customers but our waitress did not. My daughters bagel was burnt, as was some of my toast. The same cook must have done the bacon because it had burnt pieces as well.”

“I love Mom Chaffee's. It is a very cozy restaurant, low ceilings, low light. Tables are close together but somehow you don't really feel crowded. The food is really good, and prices range from very reasonable (about $9 or $10 for basic pasta entree) to quite a bit higher for fancier food. The atmosphere is really romantic. I wouldn't recommend for kids, although there is basic pasta available. But it's more of an adult setting.”

“Arners in Mount Penn used to be a great dinner back in the 70s-80s. I don't know what happened to it since then. I've been back to reading twice in the past few years and have had horrible experiences there. It's dirty, the help is grouchy, and the food is mediocre. The Arner's in Sinking Spring, on the other hand, is still good like the old Arners. Are they separately owned now?”

“I noticed the food has changed for the better. I asked around and found out that casa grande had a new "chef/prep chef", some guy who has a ton of experience and was instrumental in the success and expansion of two other restaurant chains in berks county. If this is true. Bravo! We use to go to the same old restaurant "cluster", to figure out where to go for dinner. Now we just go straight to casa grande's.”

“I used to like this place. The brick-oven pizzas are among the best. In the past, Ive enjoyed going there to sit down at my leisure for a late lunch on a Friday afternoon. Today, I was unpleasantly surprised to learn that I couldn't sit down and enjoy a late lunch. What I could do was get a pizza at the bar.”

“The menu is ambitious and unique; the food is among the best we've had anywhere in the world. The wine selection is limited but excellent, the cocktails very good, and the atmosphere is typical of a quaint bistro one may find in Spain or France (except there is actually room to move around without disturbing the party next to you). This is a great place to enjoy superior food. The owners are very engaged in ensuring excellent customer service and top-notch customer experiences. If you go for dinner, plan to spend the evening because the owners are more interested in quality than in turning tables two or three times a night.”

“This is a great place to go with a group of friends or business associates. The menu choices are wide ranging, the food prepared well with a pleasing presentation. This restaurant has been bought by the owners of its sister restaurant Viva located in West Reading, PA. Since this acquisition, dining has become a pleasure.”

“Out of all the restaurants in berk¿s county I put this one at the top of my list. The food is outstanding and the atmosphere is wonderful. Jason (server) is a remarkable server; he is very friendly, fast and makes you feel very welcomed. There is not one bad thing I can say about this place. I recommend that everyone should take a night out and visit...”

“So much more than an Italian restaurant! The Windsor inn is known for their large and exotic martinis and manhattans. The regular customers are warm and inviting and will be sure to offer you advice on dishes to try. The menu is an amazing value and stretches beyond the usual, insipid, chain restaurant boring menu that never challenges the palette. But pay attention to you server or bartender when they tell you the features- these are the real culinary treats!”

“By far the best food in berks county, dine there at least once a month great Dover sole filet by the chef/owner tableside, love the osso bucco, cozy bar with friendly professional staff casual family dining menu also, all entrees under $15.”

“I've dined there three times. One lunch and two dinners. I've never been disappointed and I'm known for being a bit particular. The menu selections from top to bottom are always very satisfying to the palate from mild to hot spiced. The entries and even the home-made iced tea were to me, excellent. The Friday evening we ate there was augmented by a jazz guitar player. I also like that it's BYOB. You can enjoy your best wine most affordably! Of course you have to like Thai cuisine to appreciate it.”

“I sent a review in last month. Where is it? This is no doubt the best Real restaurant in Reading unless you are a fan of chain restaurants or bad food. Owners were kind and attentive and our food was great. We were at a convention and were thrilled to have a N.Y. Dining experience in Reading. These guys deserve local support for the level of 'Caring' they bring to a downtrodden city that deserves a second chance!”

“I have been to the Ugly Oyster on two different occasions and it was great. I have to say I get the seafood platter each time and it is AWESOME! Each time we go down to Cabalas we are sure to stop in at this place, it is almost a necessity. The first time we stopped in it was Irish music and the few rowdy people to make it complete! We recommend this place to everyone! Keep up the great job! ”

“I was just in there today for lunch and the woman that took my money did not remove her gloves to handle my food after handling my money. When I asked if she would she snapped at me in front of her coworkers and in front of other customers, mumbling under her breath as she called me a choice name. I was completely dissatisfied and will not return to V & S. There is no need for either the poor customer service or the unsanitary conditions in which food is handled.”

“I had a lot of fun there, the wait staff was very friendly and the service was great. Besides that the food was amazing I could not choose what I wanted so I decided I'd have to come back. When I did, it was just as good or even better. I highly recommend this bistro to anyone in the area.”

“The workers wear sanitary gloves to take orders, cook the food, prepare the sandwiches, and handle the money. When I asked our server if he ever changed his gloves, he said no. I then asked the manager and I was told that it is not required to change gloves. He also said that no germs are passed to the food from money. This is not acceptable practice! The next time I order there I will ask the server to hand me his old gloves, so he must put on a new pair.”
