• Food.
• The Owner.

“This place had a lot going for it until I could hear the owner screaming berating comments at his staff. I own a business. I understand what it means to wish your staff cared as much as you do, however, there is a time for training employees, and it isn't accomplished by insulting them. The food was good, but it turned my stomach to hear him.”

• Fresh food.
• Wish it was closer to me.

“I like fresh food, they were making hand made Ravioli, Wow had to have some, salad came with dinner fresh greens and the bread was home made hard to believe all this in a strip.”

• Pizza is pretty good.
• Very independent attitude.

“They call themselves a restaurant but really this is just a pizzeria. Don't have a party here because they can't handle even a small one of only 20 people. The food was cold (not microwaved enough) and the service was so slow. They also got the menu wrong and didn't even offer the guests everything that was ordered by guest.”

• I appreciated the number of menu items suitable for a vegetarian.
• Nothing worth noting.

“I'm surprised at some of the negative reviews re service. I've always found the service gracious, attentive, accommodating. The food is delicious, fresh, always interesting specials, nicely presented. Special salads, available as upgrades to the standard side dinner salad, are generously portioned. The bread basket, served with dipping sauce, is the best.”

• Great food, service, and price.
• Location between a Laundromat and a drycleaner- if you don't look for it, you can miss it.

“There is a great variety of food to choose from, and you truly get your money's worth. It's great quality food, and the people there are friendly. When you enter, it's your basic pizza-style place, but the varieties of pizzas, salads, specialty sandwiches, desserts, are so great their entire menu is written on one wall above the counter where you order, and it fills the entire front of the restaurant! I have been a customer for a few years, and I have never been dissatisfied by the service or the food. If you have the opportunity to eat there, enjoy!”

“Village Pizza in Jersey City is one of the most beautiful Italian places. The chef and servers are great, the food is delicious and the atmosphere is awesome. I would love to go again, especially after the last dinner we had there that was prepared by the chef of the restaurant. I would recommend this place to any friend.”

• Decor looks nice. Menu sounds delicious.
• My food did not come as I expected it.

“A friend highly recommended this restaurant. She said the food is always good. So, driving by one night I stopped in to get a simple paining. Either they gave me the wrong thing or they don't know what paninis are. It was turkey, a little bit of bacon and a little bit of crumbled cheese on a roll - cold. A paining should be a grilled sandwich. I might go again and just because my friend swears she goes there all the time and loves it. Also, I agree on the other reviewer comments. I found the staff at the counter to be a little snotty. Although at the time I just blamed it on the fact that they all look to be 18 year old girls.”

• The food is fantastic!
• The service needs improvement!

“The food is great and authentic. The service was very slow and not accommodating at all. The atmosphere and ambiance is very nice. It's a BYOB so it helps keep the cost down. Altogether I would go back. Just dont plan on going anywhere like the movies.”

• It's not just pizza; many Italian entrees to choose from and the atmosphere are casual.
• There are uncomfortable tables they offer you first; you must refuse them to be seated at the more comfortable booths.

“This restaurant is okay in a pinch but you could do better. Sometimes it is okay but my last dinner there I ordered the shrimp scampi and it was served in a terrible sauce that was all vinegar, no flavor at all of butter or garlic. Neither the waitress nor the manager came by to ask about the meal. When the waitress finally came by to see if we wanted the check, we told her that the sauce was no good; that it tasted too much of vinegar. She said she could see that something was wrong since I did not eat very much of it and that she would check with the kitchen to find out what went wrong. But she just came back with the check and no explanation at all. Since we were not asked if we would like coffee or dessert we just paid the check and left even though we would have liked some dessert. We paid for the poor meal and service and left quickly because we felt unwelcome. You might have better luck here, but I would not recommend this place since there are other restaurants nearby that offer better service.”

• Breakfast, lunch and dinner are equally fabulous! Prices reasonable and portions generous.
• Can't think of anything I did not like!

“This Diner is almost a reason in itself to come to Somerset, NJ. My only disappointment is that I live 5 hours away and can't be a regular visitor!”

• They gladly accept a special request which is becoming a rarity in food service these days.

“You have not had Chinese Food until you've been to Mei Mei. They have the very best Chinese food in the area (maybe even the state.) I have been going there for years and have never been let down. Some of my favorites are fried rice, shrimp & broccoli, pepper steak, egg rolls and chicken and cashews. They only use the best ingredients and the portions are absolutely huge. You will not be disappointed if you go to Mei Mei.”
