Hunan Chinese Restaurant

• The cashier was friendly.
• The service was sub-par.

“While we were there we had a server that never smiled, mixed up our order twice, and then we got our food cold. Eventually they did get the order right, but the Moo Goo Gai Pan didn't have any taste, and my wife's curry dish was like water. We were told that the food had no MSG. This is important because I am allergic. Well, all I can say is that I spent the entire night suffering from extreme headaches, and I felt sick enough to vomit.”

• Felt completely rushed.

“First, when you spend $50+ for a meal for two, with no drinks, you expect to relax and eat at a slower pace. You can not eat a salad and then a soup without your meal showing up before you finish your soup. Or if you have a conversation during your salad, your meal shows up before you finish. I have taken my wife here for my wife's birthday for the last 5 to six years and they get faster and faster every year. If I go back I will instruct the waiter, who I never see more than once, to hold off putting my meal order in until I am through with my soup and salad. Good place to eat, but I feel very, very rushed.”

• Excellent service
• No last minute reservations on football weekends.

“The Peddler has never disappointed us. How many places do you get to pick out steak? Is it really high end restaurant? No. Does it deliver a quality meal with great service? Yes! The service you receive is what makes the Peddler shine. If you try it please recognize what it is, a nice restaurant in a small mountain town, great management, great service and very good food.”

“Liked the variety for a family of four. Dessert was excellent and 1 dessert was shared by our family. Downtown location close to ASU. College restaurant type atmosphere but my 5 and 11 year old both liked it as well as my wife and myself. Would recommend over the chain type steak/hamburger type places. Reasonable prices. Friendly young wait staff.”

“Makoto's is my favorite place to eat when I am in Boone. I live just outside of hickory, NC and I drive up to Boone at least once a month just to eat at Mankato¿s. Try the shrimp sauce!”

• I love how friendly the staff is.
• I wish I lived closer so I could dine there more often.

“I have been traveling to Boone for years and Makoto is my first stop. I love the way the new restaurant looks and the garden views are so tranquil. The chefs always put on a great show not to mention the food is fantastic. They have the best sushi around and I've had sushi all over the country. Service is excellent. A very friendly atmosphere keeps me coming back.”
