410 Bank Street Restaurant
Aug 16, 2009 by Joseph from Roselle Park

“Manager refused to allow me to use the handicap ramp. I was forced to get out of wheelchair with oxygen tank or no service. I have leukemia and underwent a bone marrow transplant. As a result of high dose Chemo therapy and radiation, I now have lung issues. I am forced to use a wheelchair and oxygen to survive and attempt to live somewhat normal life. I can assure you that living this way is not my first choice. I made a reservation for 7:15 pm on May 14, 2009 at the restaurant 410 Bank Street, located in Cape May, New Jersey. The restaurant was advertised as Handicapped Accessible. Upon arrival I had a problem with the manager. While I waited outside, my wife informed her that I would need to use a ramp for my power chair. She immediately became enraged and quite loudly declared no! He can't come in. If it was a manual wheelchair I would say okay but not a power chair. Aside from my extreme embarrassment by her behavior I was quite disappointed. Clearly there was a handicap ramp but she felt it was her personal discretion if someone was worthy of using it. I tried to enjoy the rest of the evening. For my trouble, manager offered to give me a free desert. I find it insulting.”

Rusty Nail Bar And Grill
Jul 9, 2009 by Danielle from Cape May

Overall Rating: 4 User Rating Score: 4
Food:[4] • Service:[1] • Atmosphere:[6]

  • The sand pit, colors, interior design.
  • Everything else!

“I used to love going to the Nail! I saw it was open a couple days ago so I decided to stop by my old stomping ground. That was my biggest mistake! It is now owned by Cape Resorts Group (same people who own Congress Hall and many others). Didn't have half the items on the menu, loud arguments in the kitchen, slow service. The list could go on. Everything just seemed to be very chaotic and unorganized. First and last time going there!”

Rusty Nail Bar And Grill
May 18, 2008 by Donna from Eastampton, NJ

Overall Rating: 1 User Rating Score: 1
Food:[1] • Service:[1] • Atmosphere:[1]

  • Location.
  • Everything else.

“The first few times we went there, the rusty nail was fantastic! We all enjoyed both the atmosphere and the food. The last 2 times, however, were very different. The restaurant was dirty, hardly any menu items were available, the service was awful, the portions were smaller, and the food was barely edible. Unfortunately, we won't be going back ever.”

  • Great Italian food.

“Have been going here since the doors opened (many years). It is spotlessly clean, never had a bad meal. Always had great service-whether there were 8 of us or just 2! Reservations are always within 5 minutes of the time requested and you are always treated like a welcomed guest--Italian Food -quality high.”

The Cove Restaurant
Sep 2, 2007 by Michelle from Reading, PA

Overall Rating: 5 User Rating Score: 5
Food:[5] • Service:[5] • Atmosphere:[7]

  • Location.
  • Overpriced, very average food.

“The location is the best part of the cove; it is the last building on the actual cape - and sits right on the sand. The view, especially from the side dining room, is spectacular. It's convenient if you're on the beach and want food; however, the food is mediocre. Lots of fried seafood, passable burgers and the clam chowder is Manhattan style, which is not specified on the menu. I like both chowders but was expecting new England.”

Carney's Inc
Jul 7, 2007 by PF from New York

Overall Rating: 1 User Rating Score: 1
Food:[1] • Service:[1] • Atmosphere:[1]

  • Nice location.
  • Nasty bartender.

“My family and I went on a lovely one week vacation to Cape. My husband, brother-in-law and I stopped in during Happy Hour. There was a dirty bar and a very nasty bartender. When my husband asked to change his drink because he could not drink it, the guy threw the drink away and broke the glass and told US never to do that again! We got up and left. This guy needs to go for anger management and should not be serving the public The guy sitting next to us said, "That's why I only order beer!")”

Ugly Mug Bar & Restaurant
Oct 30, 2006 by Bob from Bethlehem PA

Overall Rating: 7 User Rating Score: 7
Food:[7] • Service:[7] • Atmosphere:[6]

  • Good for a fast, tasty lunch.
  • The above "fast."

“The sandwiches are tasty; the pace is frenetic; the help is sometimes abrupt--but that can be attributed to the crowds during tourist season. It's one of the first places out-of-towners will mention when discussing Cape May eateries, but it's simply a place to get a fast in-and-out meal. And yes, there are mugs lined up for public viewing.”

Louisas Cafe
Oct 29, 2006 by Robert from Bethlehem, PA

Overall Rating: 10 User Rating Score: 10
Food:[10] • Service:[10] • Atmosphere:[10]

  • I have never had a less than excellent main, side, or dessert item.
  • When we vacation in late October, they are open only 3 evenings.

“Although Louisa's has a regular corps of diners, they are certainly not known as well as the many less impressive, tourist-dominated eateries scattered throughout Cape May and surrounding areas. There are several reasons for this: you generally need a reservation; seating is limited; they do not advertise at least I have rarely seen mention of this outstanding restaurant in print outside Cape May. We discovered Louisa's shortly before our first Cape May vacation some 18 years ago, they were listed in a travel guide with comments about their spectacular, reasonably priced food and the opportunity to aurally and physically meet some interesting people because of the limited space. How much do we like the food? At the very first opportunity to make reservations upon our arrival in Cape May, we reserve for each of the 3 evenings they are open, were they open 5, we would still eat there each night. My wife and I usually do not order fish when we eat out since it is pretty far down on our list of favorites, but at Louisa's I have tasted just about every fish dinner they serve, some of them many times that is how special and tasty boneless trout, haddock, etc. can be when they are prepared by a culinary genius. As for the service, I have never encountered such willing, speedy, and cordial servers as those at Louisa's Cafe. So look for the funky fish painted on the outside of the small building, step into the funky little restaurant, and imagine that you've entered in formal dress, the food will live up to all your best expectations. (One of the requirements in filling out this form is that I rate various aspects of the restaurant: I rated the Atmosphere 10 since it's such an integral part of the eating experience and atmosphere is subjective.)”

Overall Rating: 9 User Rating Score: 9
Food:[9] • Service:[8] • Atmosphere:[8]

  • Good food in a nice clean environment
