Chef Vola's Inc
Jul 15, 2008 by walkerny from Ithaca, NY

Overall Rating: 9 User Rating Score: 9
Food:[9] • Service:[9] • Atmosphere:[9]

  • Everything. Never had a bad dish.
  • Crazy restroom facilities. Cramped and through the kitchen. Nothing to kick about unless little things bother you.

“Not sure I'd throw out the best in the Northeast tag, too many great Italian restaurants to just throw that around. Having said that. This place is GREAT. We go every year when down the shore. Don't eat much all day, because from the bread to the salad to the appetizers, sides, pasta, main dishes, vegetables and deserts, I can't think of anything I'd want to do without! It's not the most expensive place, but if you are the type that worry over the tab, better skip it. Let someone who knows their way around a great meal have the table. It's crowded & loud, but you definitely feel you are among friends and among the type that knows a gem like this in every town. Bring both a red & white, you never know what you'll be ordering, suggest a dry or semi dry of each will handle most dishes. A simple Pinot Noir, Cab or Montelpulciano in red, and a Pinot Grigio, Trebbiano, or a nice Orvieto, in white. The wine won't be the star of the night believe me. Dress is casual but dress respectable, you'll want to. Bring cash, and float a $5 for parking out back. The neighborhood is fine during daylight and early evening, but the fin comes with a guy watching the car.”

Playground Lounge
Nov 13, 2007 by Blaze from Voorhees

Overall Rating: 9 User Rating Score: 9
Service:[10] • Atmosphere:[7]

  • The girls, the hours of operation, the girls, the staff. .
  • Some of the prices were a little steep but not terrible. Private rooms are a little cramped.

“They dont close till 6amdancers were hot and they had a diverse crew, Caucasian, Italian, Latina, black (chocolate and caramel) great bodies gorgeous faces, and chill personalities, (all in their early 20s) very friendly the DJ was on point, great mixes. Great track selection mostly hip hop, rap, and soul, familiar artists familiar tracks and some you might no have heard. This is jersey; it is a gentlemans lounge, not a strip club. Know the difference, know the rules, show respect, and enjoy. I had a pretty good time unlike the other review from a year ago, I played, I had fun, I will be back and Im bringing friends.”

Tonys Baltimore Grill
Oct 26, 2007 by VINCE from PORT ORANGE, FL

Overall Rating: 8 User Rating Score: 8
Food:[9] • Service:[8] • Atmosphere:[7]

  • The original a/c. Pizza; generous portions, fairly modest prices. Clean place and kitchen. Friendly atmosphere.
  • Menu has remained intact for nearly 90 years.

“Approaching it's 90th year in business, while remaining chiefly in the hands of the Tarsitano family, a well established clan in Atlantic city, Tony's Baltimore grill is the kind of institution that doesn't require good reviews to ensure it's continued success. With Tony's, what you see is what you get. Simple, but scrupulously prepared basic Italian American fare [the kitchen is immaculate!]. The kind of food, atmosphere and value that locals and Philadelphians can appreciate. There are some people that don't get a place like Tonys. And that's o.k. It's all about expectations. Tony's was the first restaurant that I ever went to; because of its affordability, one that my parents would actually consider. We always loved the pizza [absolutely historic; very likely the original a/c. Pizza], the generous antipasto, and the fried shrimp platter was always a treat. Being from an Italian family, my culinary tastes have expanded significantly over the years, and usually don't involve the choice of Italian for an evening out [mom's good cooking sets the standard in my family]. However, for a quick, fast treat or business lunch, Tonys is a great choice. For dinner, on summer evenings and year round during weekends will, you likely find a sizable line stretching onto Atlantic avenue. I guess a lot of people do get Tonys!”

Tonys Baltimore Grill
Aug 19, 2007 by Carol from Binghamton, NY

Overall Rating: 5 User Rating Score: 5
Food:[5] • Service:[5] • Atmosphere:[2]

  • Price of a loaf of bread while we were waiting for pizza was only 80 cents.
  • Long wait; food not great.

“This restaurant had been recommended to us by a woman at the visitor's information center on the boardwalk. We waited approximately 45 minutes to get in, then dealt with freezing cold AC and a very loud, busy atmosphere. I wouldn't recommend this place. The food was just OK.”

Tonys Baltimore Grill
Jun 26, 2007 by beck from Indiana

Overall Rating: 6 User Rating Score: 6
Food:[5] • Service:[10] • Atmosphere:[4]

  • Great service.
  • Only salad dressing was vinegar and oil to add you.

“Waitress was wonderful. Made suggestions to help our family - not just to make more tips. (When I asked if something would be big enough to share of if we should order more - she said "share") kids liked playing with the jukebox at the table. It was not a classy joint by any means. But you get what you pay for. And it was affordable. Food was simple, but decent. Didn't have salad dressings to choose from. Only vinegar and oil.”

Angelos Fairmount Tavern
May 11, 2007 by Frank De Marcello from Trenton

Overall Rating: 3 User Rating Score: 3
Food:[5] • Service:[1] • Atmosphere:[2]

  • Good was good.
  • Service was the worst. It made it a bad time.

“It seemed as though the bartenders were extremely courteous, and helpful. As for the our waitress, she was not attentive at all, we waited a good amount of time before she or the help came over to us. After that our order was definitely incorrect. All in all, I think that if the service was up to par, then I would not mind spending $31.00, on 1 dish. But, in this case, it was not even close!”

Girasole Ristorante
Nov 6, 2006 by Greg from Pennsylvania

Overall Rating: 4 User Rating Score: 4
Food:[5] • Service:[2] • Atmosphere:[7]

  • The pasta bologna's is divine.
  • The spigola fish, the service, and the owner are to be avoided.

“It is a shame to give 2 stars to a restaurant that is so close to being 4 or 5 stars, but My wife and I visited in mid-July, and while we thought the food was divine, our service was horrible. The couple seated near us was seated only 3 minutes before us, but they were practically done with their dessert (they had a different waitress) before we had even gotten our salad course. My wife and I visited again on the evening of October 14th, and while the service had improved, I ordered the "salt dome" sea bass (spigola) special. Can you imagine my disappointment when the amount of resulting fish was about 4 ounces, the side of potatoes consisted of little "tater tot" chips, and the price, an outrageous $39! If you're going to charge that embarrassing amount for a "special", then the wait staff should make it a point to say " and our sea bass special, which is $39, consists of" (Later, the owner Elena would reply to me, that it was unthinkable that I had less than 8 ounces of fish, and that they don't quote prices on specials so as not to "offend" customers. What? She was even so bold as to say that my opinion of the fish was "irrelevant")! The wine sommelier, literally, rolled her eyes at us when we "only" ordered a $25 bottle of shiraz. I had e-mailed the restaurant three times about another issue -- a charity fundraiser that would have resulted in Girasol getting the dining business of about 15 affluent adults who will be in Atlantic City on November 11th. Elena failed to respond to any of the three e-mails. I'm not trying to be harsh, but we showed three good attempts to be a "loyal customer", and considering the four scenarios above. Why should we be loyal any more?”

Chef Vola's Inc
Oct 18, 2006 by kathy from chicago

Overall Rating: 10 User Rating Score: 10
Food:[10] • Service:[10] • Atmosphere:[10]

  • Loved the salmon, loved the pesto/basil pasta sauce too.
  • Would prefer to pay with credit card, but oh well .

“The ambiance is exciting and fun very close quarters. The menu and it's spectacular litany of specials are well worth the effort to make a reservation. Food was to die for service was impeccable pricey menu, but dropping $85 bucks on one dinner, sure beats playing a couple hands of Black Jack at the casinos at least I enjoyed my meal, and came away with a memory of fine cuisine What a fun place if you decide to go, make your reservations well in advance, be on time, cash only and BYOB highly recommend Chef Vola's ”

Old Waterway Inn
Apr 14, 2006 by Steve from Winslow, NJ

Overall Rating: 9 User Rating Score: 9
Food:[10] • Service:[9] • Atmosphere:[10]

  • The daily specials.
  • A little hard to find the first time.

“This spot on Venice Island is a real jewel. Wonderful daily specials and a good regular menu at reasonable prices. Outdoor dining when the weather is warm and a fireplace when it's cold. Fresh local seafood keeps me going back along with the imaginative sauces which keep you guessing. The staff is always friendly and attentive. You will never be rushed. A real pleasure from the craziness of the casinos. ”
