“The absolute best burgers! Shakes are great too! Staff is friendly, even when the diner is packed!”

“I decided to come here for drinks with my wife for her 40th birthday in July. This place is also special to us because it was where I proposed to my wife. However, when we got to the outside sitting area for cocktails, no one showed up to give us menus or take our order. After waiting 20 minutes I got up and asked on of the servers if we could have a menu. Again after ten minutes, no response. Then, an older couple who looked like they were in shock that someone as young as us could even be there, were served menus and had their order taken the second they were seated. I could possibly live with that slight except for the fact that it happened again about two minutes later when another couple was served before us. Needless to say, my wife and I were disgusted and decided to leave. We complained to the hostess who simply said nothing and looked the other way. To add insult to injury, the parking attendant left my car on the whole time with the AC blasted on one of the hottest days of the year! When I confronted him as to why this was allowed he got belligerent and started yelling at me that their were too many cars that had to be parked. Mind you, this was a Saturday night and there was no one else waiting to have their car parked and the restaurant was mostly empty. Needless to say, my wife and I will never go back to this place.”

“I have never been to a restaurant like this! We were happy to find a Portuguese restaurant where they have sardines the Portuguese way. At the beginning the waiters were very friendly and brought bread and butter. After we have said we wanted just to order this appetizer. The waiter went away. The manager came to us, said if we wanted just to have drinks and appetizer we had to pay more. We asked why and he did not give any answer. He took our drinks away and said we don't need to pay anything, but had to leave. The gentleman in the beginning turned to be nasty impolite creatures, just because we were not going to have may be the expected 4 course meal. That's completely outrageous! To be well received there and to receive a courteous treatment we have to spend a lot of money. So I recommend you to go there and spend a lot. They will certainly be happy!”

“Some of the best food in town. I travel to Westchester a few times a year and I always make a point of stopping at Santa Fe. That other reviewer guy is crazy when he said he wanted more Mexican items. They have nachos, quesadillas, enchiladas, tacos, burritos, GREAT fajitas, fish tacos, shrimp, weekend specials, pork dishes, etc. Not to mention the great margaritas. There's also a LOT of fish and seafood choices. Try the seafood stew or the sole! My favorite dish is the Mexican pinata which has steak, chorizo sausage, tomatoes, onions, peppers, sour cream, guacamole, and is delicious!”

“The best kept secret in Westchester! The food is both interesting and delicious, not the "same old". Each time we visit, we discover another gem from the menu, which changes slightly with the season. The owners, a father and son team, could not be more gracious; they really care about their customers enjoying themselves. Be sure to save room (if possible) for the incredible homemade desserts!”

“Better than typical Mexican food. Great service and pleasant friendly atmosphere. What else is there to say? Oh yea, the marguerites were great.”

“Being an Indian myself, I decided to check out this restaurant and was very disappointed to say the least. The host didnt get our order right, the appetizers were made poorly and were tasteless and took longer for the food to come out (and we were the only people in the restaurant at that time on a Saturday). The least said about the main courses the better. It probably appeals to people who have not tasted good Indian food and will gobble up anything that looks like Indian curry! I will recommend the Malabar hill in Elmsford if you are looking to have some authentic Indian food.”

“My favorite Mexican place in Westchester. Food is always above expectations and lots of it. Menu is more imaginative than the typical tax mex fare. Prices seem fair. Great margaritas and tropical drinks. Service is attentive and friendly.”

“Service was slow, but it was a bit busy. Ordered the most expensive dish osso bocco $27.00 ish. It was the absolutely worst I have ever had. Later I mentioned, at the Tarrytown house estates, that I had osso bocco and she immediately said "oh no. It was terrible wasn't it?" oh god was she right. Order anything but this dish. Horrible! Don't know why they even serve this as it has to hurt their business. If you still have to try the osso bocco. Plan on grabbing a gyro at the greek place on the corner. I assure you that you will be hungry and wish you had listened to my review.”

“You absolutely have got to go here. If possible sit outside and enjoy the village. Absolutely must have the gyro plate. Unbelievable! Had the lobster bisque. Not great. Not use to thick flour based soups. Everyone loved everything and some thought the soup was fine. Still my favorite in Tarrytown.”

“I picked this restaurant for a special occasion because of its reputation as a beautiful place with excellent food. The four course prix-fix dinner at $74. A person was way too much for what you got. The portions were very small, which I don't mind at a high end restaurant, but what got me was that with the main course, side courses of vegetables and potatoes were extra charges of $7 each. We didn't order the sides and the main courses looked very lonely on the plates that arrived. I was also annoyed that coffee wasn't included. We were charged $3.50 extra for each cup of (tasteless, weak) coffee and $6.50 extra for cappuccino. Not a nice feeling for a "prix-fix" meal. The bill came to $670. For 6 people. They add in a 20% tip. We won't be back. A bit too pretentious for us.”

“Quiet and enjoyable meal in a pleasant setting. The food was very good and the wait staff was very patient and helpful. We will be back. ”

“Dined at Equus during Memorial Weekend 2006 - Service was horrible. Waiters inattentive, lack of personality, and disinterested in clientèles The wait between appetizer and entry was 1 1/2 hours. The restaurant was not overly busy and the wait staff was more interested in placing the proper silverware than serving courses. The special (Atlantic salmon) was so salty that all three chefs agreed it was inedible. The monkfish was raw and the salads dressings were so strong as to render the salad unappealing. Tea service took 20 minutes to arrive, after dessert was eaten. If one has food allergies, be careful, as the wait staff does not pay attention to diner's dietary restrictions. Portions are small and the prix fix dinner is overly priced. Definitely not a five star establishment.”

“I have had food from here well over a dozen times, and it never disappoints. Take out is actually better because they give you more food. And it is a lot of food for your money. One take out gyro platter can easily satisfy 2 people, and it comes with Greek salad, lots of warm pita, and amazing yogurt sauce. I definitely recommend the food at this place. If you haven't eaten here, you don't know what you're missing. Then again, I may have just let the cat out of the bag!”

“Bring on the butter. The Steaks are amazing, and served sizzling in butter. They managed to get the mashed potatoes smooth and fluffy (almost impossible). Though a meal is not cheap, it is a great spot for top notch food and service. Gave a free desert for my birthday. A+ ”

Santa Fe Restaurant “Good mixed drinks, a friendly staff, and a good location (right on Main street in Tarrytown). It's a bit pricey, and it's not the best Mexican food around. Try Guadalajara in Ossining.”

“The Horseman diner has a decent selection serving good, cheap meals. The Sicilian pizza is big enough for a couple of meals at our house. The sandwiches are bit more expensive, but served with good fries. Breakfast isn't anything special. Overall, don't go out of your way, but good take out if you are in the area. The Eldorado Diner in Elmsford is better.”

“Horse feather's has the best burgers. After having it once, I have not been able to order anything else from the menu. Other's I have dined with have been impressed with other menu items from sandwiches, to steaks and the fish.”

“If they have the food they will cook it any way you request, they take care of special diets. The menu is varied and all the main courses we have had are good tasting and the prices are resonable including the bar drinks. Ordert takers know the way the food is prepared, what's in the food or they find out and will make suggestions.”

“My wife and I with two 1st graders were quite happy with their food and service. They happily let the children split a child's chicken fingers order, and split a juice drink. My wife had the trout and a glass of merlot, and I had a bacon-cheeseburger with a Tangerey & tonic. The food was tasty, and the total was only $41 plus tip.”

“Very good bar food with a good bottled beer selection (though nothing is on tap). It has a cozy feel at night (the inside is decorated with paintings of famous writers), but during the day, it is a little dark - so eat outdoors if the weather permits.
