Seniora Pizza
Jun 14, 2009 by me from syracuse

Overall Rating: 1 User Rating Score: 1
Food:[3] • Service:[1] • Atmosphere:[1]

  • There is no positive.
  • Customer service and food.

“First timer. The pizza was bad and not even what I had ordered. The wings were great until I found a hair in them. When my husband called to complain they mocked him and then hung up on him. When he called back they said he was lying and said that no women worked there (like men don't have hair).”

Pizzeria Uno
Apr 3, 2009 by Melinda F. from Tully, NY

Overall Rating: 6 User Rating Score: 6
Food:[8] • Service:[3] • Atmosphere:[5]

  • Food was tasty.
  • Service was slow, understaffed, prices are ridiculously high!

“Ate a quick meal with non-alcoholic beverage with a friend of mine after shopping. The service was so slow and it was on a weekday evening. We had to wait to get a table, but the place was clearly slow. They were clearly understaffed, as our waitress was running around trying to accommodate everyone. It took us over an hour to get our food, eat and pay the bill. Over $30 for two to eat - the food was pretty good though. Over $10 for a salad.”

Brooklyn Pickle East
Mar 16, 2009 by Laura from Syracuse

Overall Rating: 1 User Rating Score: 1
Food:[1] • Service:[1] • Atmosphere:[4]

  • Nothing.
  • Rotten food, rude service, and never got order correct.

“This place has gotten terrible. Not only are the workers incompetent and rude but the food is rotten. My husband and I live close by and would order from there take out on Mondays since thats the day we both work late. Every time I'd call it in the female that answered was rude. Never a thanks or have a good day. Attitude in her voice and just hung up the phone, never a bye. On one occasion I asked for an Italian sub with everything that comes on it. I open it at home and there was nothing on it but mayo and the meat! Unbelievable. Another time I ordered their Baked Potato Soup for take out. Mind you I called the order in at 2 and when my husband picked it up at 5 they told him there was no more of that soup so he got me Chicken Noodle. There was a bone in my soup, I almost choked. Stupid me still ordered from there. The following Monday was the topper. We both got subs and Potato knishes. Neither of our subs had on them the lettuce, tomato, or onion that we asked for. Just the meat and the mayo. And the potato knishes were rotten! It was disgusting. They smelled terrible and were all bubbly and shriveled. I almost puked when I opened them. I know what they normally look like and those were rotten. I will never order or go there ever again. Mikes deli is so much better and just down the road. They have never messed up my Monday order yet and I have never gotten anything rotten from there. I'm going to call the Health Dept. On the Pickle so they don't serve someone else rotten food.”

Brooklyn Pickle East
Feb 19, 2009 by Chuck from Syracuse

Overall Rating: 5 User Rating Score: 5
Food:[3] • Service:[8] • Atmosphere:[5]

  • Good turkey!
  • Bad everything else!

“You know there's trouble when the sub roll looks and tastes worse than a Subway plain roll. It had the look and feel of a limp hot dog bun with none of the flavor. The meat was undeniably better than at Subway. Lettuce was shredded and looked like a wet mass of seaweed. Apparently if you ask for oil and vinegar, they drench the sub in oil, no vinegar. If you like cucumbers, you'll like their pickles. Go to somewhere else.”

Brooklyn Pickle East
Jan 19, 2009 by Bernie from Utica, NY

Overall Rating: 5 User Rating Score: 5
Food:[6] • Service:[4] • Atmosphere:[7]

  • The actual garlic dill pickle.
  • Inconsistency.

“My wife and I each ordered the sandwich the shop was named after. I watched the girl make mine, weighing everything out and doing things by the book. My wife's sandwich had twice the meat mine did! I am perplexed by not only the inconsistency but how little meat you are actually supposed to get. I was also discouraged at having to pay extra just to get banana peppers on my sandwich.”

Overall Rating: 10 User Rating Score: 10
Food:[10] • Service:[10] • Atmosphere:[10]

  • Liked the atmosphere, service and their tender beef.
  • The only thing is the butter for the bread was a little hard. I definitely eat out at restaurants all the time and am use to bad service!

“We went there last year and again this year on August 25, 2008 and found the restaurant very clean, neat and extremely comfortable. Noise level is low and the food delicious! They even sing a special Happy Birthday song for their guests birthday. This restaurant is set in the western style. If there were more of them I am sure they would be a big hit. A++++ for service, meal, and hospitality. Is definitely worth the time.”

Alto Cinco
Jul 10, 2008 by Heather from Liverpool

Overall Rating: 10 User Rating Score: 10
Food:[10] • Service:[9] • Atmosphere:[10]

  • Food, friends, fun.
  • Itty bitty space.

“Alto Cinco is where it's at! The atmosphere is electric, yet the restaurants intimate size is calming and inviting. The food consistently surpasses my expectations (even though they get higher each time I go!) and the staff couldn't be any friendlier (I just wish there were more of them sometimes, for their own sanity's sake! They move so fast and handle so much all it once. It's quite impressive.) It might be a little off the beaten path, but Alto Cinco's is more than worth it!”

Cosmo Pizza Shop, Inc
Jul 3, 2008 by Lori from Syracuse

Overall Rating: 1 User Rating Score: 1

  • It was on time.
  • Too much to mention, see my above comment.

“We received the food timely, but the food was not very desirable. The super loaded chicken Philly left me wondering if the regular chicken Philly had any topping, or chicken for that matter, on it and the chicken was way overcooked and tasted a bit burned. The turkey club was very small for the price of almost $10.00 each, the size of a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. The real shock came when I called the manager to complain.”

Coleman's Authentic Irish Pub Inc
Apr 22, 2008 by patrick from syracuse

Overall Rating: 6 User Rating Score: 6
Food:[5] • Service:[5] • Atmosphere:[6]

  • Nothing much.
  • Everything else.

“One of the most overrated places in all of Central New York. Slow service at bar. Shoddy service in dining room. Mediocre food at best. Survives only on its name and the fact that it's a neighborhood singles bar. The longer the staff is employed there, the more of a sense of entitlement they seem to develop. The bartenders are relatively slow, and pour less than stellar drinks. Beer is often flat and ill tasting (dirty tap lines, and Ive witnessed bartenders stir beers with straws right before servers take them to patrons, giving the quick illusion there is "head" on the beer).”

Faegans Cafe & Pub
Mar 10, 2008 by Kay from Maine

Overall Rating: 7 User Rating Score: 7
Food:[7] • Service:[7] • Atmosphere:[9]

  • Atmosphere, variety of brews, affordable.
  • Salmon sandwich.

“My husband and I spend the weekend in Syracuse to see the Orange defeat Marquette. We went to Faegans twice. On our first visit, we shared a cup of the French Onion Soup. The soup had excellent flavor and was not too salty. A definite 10. For entrees, my husband enjoyed a Chicken Cheesesteak sandwich on a sub roll. It was tasty. I ordered the Turkey Burger. I did send it back to be cooked a bit more; the middle seemed a bit undercooked when I cut it in half. The flavor of the burger was great and all the portions were generous. The mixed drink I ordered was average and my husband tried a variety of brews throughout the weekend that he truly enjoyed. The second meal we ordered during the weekend was a plate of nachos and a Salmon sandwich. The nachos were yummy. Three different chips were used and were covered with cheese, tomatoes, olives, peppers, and onions. Three sides were given: Guacamole, Salsa, and Sour Cream. My husband said it's the only Guacamole he's ever liked. Although the salmon was an extremely generous portion for a sandwich, the taste of it was just too fishy. I should have ordered the daily special of quiche which looked very good for the customer sitting next to me. If you want decent pub fare at a decent price, I encourage you to stop by. Faegans is the place to go when getting ready to see the Orange. The energy and the atmosphere were outstanding.”

Colorado Mine Co Steakhouse
Jan 18, 2008 by Gary from Auburn

Overall Rating: 6 User Rating Score: 6
Food:[4] • Service:[3] • Atmosphere:[5]

  • Western look.
  • Our waitress was not friendly at all.

“My wife and I went for dinner just the other day. I thought the service was horrible. The waitress seemed in a rush and she dropped a plate on the floor behind us. The waitress didn't come to the table often and seemed much frazzled. We only got greeted by one other person the entire time on our visit and it was by a female girl who looked as if she was training (She was following another waitress closely). We almost wish she was our waitress. I was unpleased with service. As for food, my steak was very dry and my wife who ordered prime rib, it looked very dissatisfying. The drinks seemed over priced also. I would not suggest this restaurant to anyone.”

  • Some of the food is not kept full.

“Great location, near airport and in northern lights. Food selection is pretty good; however, the foot is not always kept full as other Asian buffets usually are. Dessert selection is poor in comparison to other Asian buffets. Price is not bad considering it is a buffet. I go if I am in the area, however, prefer other Asian buffets over this one.”

“I think this restaurant delivers exquisite service, has great food and makes excellent drinks. I came to visit some family in Syracuse and they took me to your restaurant and I absolutely loved it! I'm from Maine, so we don't have bars and grills that create such an exciting atmosphere but Zebbs I would recommend to anyone near to the area or far and would suggest getting one or some chains built in Maine.”

Joeys
Oct 25, 2007 by Larry from Solvay

Overall Rating: 9 User Rating Score: 9
Food:[9] • Service:[9] • Atmosphere:[8]

  • The eggplant Parmigiana.
  • Not having room for dessert.

“Joeys is an exceptional example of classic Italian American cuisine, with every dish well balanced in taste, texture and presentation. The eggplant Parmigiana and Calarmari steak are both dishes I would drive a long way to sample here. There are actually two restaurants in the same building, downstairs is the fine dining side, not really set up for family groups, more for adults, business, couples out for a romantic evening, but upstairs is quite nice and is better suited for families and those looking for a more casual, bistro style meal. Back to the downstairs, the menu is substantial with so many choices of interest that it will take several visits to check it all out, but if others are as exceptional as the dishes we tried on the first visit, then it may call for a weekly visit to try everything ! And the service was exceptional too, no pretensions, just solid, attentive and personal service. I can't ignore the pasta here! Go for any of the fresh made pastas, especially the ravioli, hand made apparently with a house version with cheese, but if they have a special ravioli, go for it ! I had spinach and prosciutto ravioli with a sun dried tomato cream sauce that was over the top. No room for dessert but the offerings sounded great. Can't wait to go back.”

Brooklyn Pickle East

Overall Rating: 3 User Rating Score: 3
Food:[1] • Service:[9] • Atmosphere:[6]

  • Friendly attentive staff.
  • Spoiled meat.

“Last month we stopped at Brooklyn pickle east and bought two whole corned beef sandwiches on dark rye with Russian dressing and lettuce. We took them home as the restaurant was quite crowded at the time of our visit. We were appalled to find the meat very wet and slimy when we arrived home. It appeared as if it was on the verge of spoiling and they rinsed it off in water to be able to sell it that day. I smelled of it and it had a very unpleasant odor too. Horrible experience! Needless to say, we discarded both sandwiches and it will be a very long time before we return to this sandwich shop! Maybe never as there are a lot of choices out there.”

  • Worse restaurant meal we have had in recent memory.

“A relative gave us a gift certificate and we still felt cheated and that the relative had thrown the money in the rod. We should have gotten a refund - but simply decided never to eat there again. My wife had prime rib that had a sickly color & taste. The meat was sub-par even for Ponderosa. I love salt, but the amount of salt seasoning used made the Tilapia fish impossible to eat & enjoy. We left 1/2 our main course items on the plate.”

  • At times there can be too many people.

“Wide selection - is the type of restaurant that can make any person happy. They serve amazing burgers (try the stuffed Lugar burger) and their salads are the best I ever tasted (and I am not a salad eating person). Their dressings are homemade and their melts are to die for. Service is amazing and fast. Go at night for a complete turn around. Both scenes are great. I would highly recommend Faegans, especially in comparison to the other dining alternatives around the area. ”

Overall Rating: 10 User Rating Score: 10

  • I've been there four times and each time beat the last.
  • So small it is packed in a flash.

“Tiny, funky, hopping' is how I'd describe Alto Cinco. Expect to wait a little bit even on weeknights but know that it'll be worth the wait. The food is fresh and colorful and filling. My last time there I had seared scallops on greens with a great dressing. Followed by a salmon burrito that I could only eat half of. Apples, entree, wine and coffee for two came to about $50. Cozy and romantic if you want it to be. Comfortable and easy if you are with a group of friends. A wide range of ages and backgrounds....a great, consistent spot.”
