User Reviews for Reno Restaurants« Go back to Kendal HotelsResearch User Reviews for Reno (1-20 of 41)Red Lobster
“Food was good as usual and don't mind the prices but then there was my great obese server. She was not only ugly and huge but a terrible server. I guess friends are more important than customers to her, she kept paying more attention to them that too any of her duties. Why do we have to put up with people like that? I mean, I did not chose her job, she did. At least she could try to fix her teeth and loose some weight, may be that is why she look so tired to take care of the people who at the end would tip her? And then there was the manager, any way, she was as bad as the server. At least she could brush her teeth or put a mint in it. She stunk like old alcohol. Totally disappointed with Red Lobster for having people like that working there. Oh! Well.”

“Whether you go winter or summer try the soup (stunning cauliflower and others in the winter, amazing cold fruit soups in the summer), have a terrific sandwich, save space for the best bread pudding you'll ever taste (varies every day as they use whatever muffins and/or French toast they have available) - and it comes with a Bourbon sauce! Then, finish with the Grand Cafe - the best coffee I've ever tasted! I cannot praise this place too highly - food is top class quality, like you would expect in a top class establishment, but it's available in a cafe near UNR. We visit from the UK at least six different weeks a year and this is our favorite eating place in the whole of the city.”

“Honestly, I didn't mind it. Not fabulous, but reasonably priced drinks. Good music. I had a great time last I was there, and plan to go again.”

“The fajitas were phenomenal! The wait staff is super friendly and it is so cool to watch the planes as you are eating your meal! The salsa is really good too!”

“The staff is rude and very un-friendly. The menu is very limited and very expensive. My wife and I went in for one of their breakfast specials, ended up ordering bacon and eggs. The menu price was $8.99 for 3 eggs, bacon, potatoes, and toast. We asked for only 2 eggs thinking there would be a reduction in price. Nope! And the coffee was only $2.25 per cup. The waitress never came back for refills until she was clearing the table and presenting us the check. Our breakfast special ending up costing over $24 smackers for 2 eggs and bacon and a pound of potatoes. Our recommendation is for anyone to avoid Joes unless you like spending a lot of money in a not so classy joint. Joes will probably be out of business soon.”

“One of the better places in Reno for sushi. Seems like there are hundreds in town. Menu has all the standards, including Godzilla rolls, rainbow, etc. Some rolls are house specials, and all are very good. Nothing especially authentically Japanese, but the overall value and quality much better than others in town (especially better than Sushi Club). Tell the chef what you like, and custom rolls will quickly appear. Everything fresh and high turnover, which is always a plus when dealing with seafood. In town, Sushi Moto in South Reno is also an excellent second choice.”

“I love this restaurant! My husband and I love to eat here whenever we get a chance! I wouldn't consider it romantic per say just because we usually eat breakfast there and it's hard to make breakfast romantic to me but we love to go on weekends and the service is fantastic! Great little place to just drop in and eat. Food is amazing and it really has a small diner feel to it which is nice and cozy. Wonderful!”

“We love Archie's, especially for breakfast. The only complaint is the music at 8 to 10 am should be softer or not as loud. We usually end up asking them to turn the music down but within 10 to 15 minutes its back blaring again. It's impossible to carry on a conversation. I have heard others ask that the music be turned down also, so I know it's not just us. We have bypassed going there a few times for this reason.”

“This is a very scary hole in the wall bar. Every time that we go there, it ends up with fights inside with the personal/bouncers acting as if they were "roadhouse" people. The bouncer were drinking. Not a safe place for locals or tourist!”

“We have eaten at the Palais de Jade before and found the food excellent and the service adequate. The day before Valentines Day my wife called to order the Chinese Treasure Mandarin Peking Duck (24 hours advance notice) for dinner on the following day. They very rude employee who answered the phone told her It's a holiday and our cooks will be busy and we will not prepare the dish you are requesting. She then asked if he would please check for her and call her back. The Palais de Jade owner called back and my wife asked him why they would not honor our request when they had 24 hours advance notice. He replied we are not going to please just one customer and displease ten others. He then told my wife she was stupid if she couldn't understand how busy they were and my wife asked why they didn't say on the menu that they wouldn't prepare certain dishes on holidays. He then screamed I won't permit you to enter my restaurant and hung up on her.”

“I have been to this place a few times and its always the same, typical Americanized Chinese food and noisy place. The lady that manages the place is very disrespectful if her employees and is a real slave driver, she always has a real mean look on her face. Service is like they don't care, but with a boss like that, maybe thats why. Much better real Chinese food can be found just across the street at Szechwan garden. Looks like a small hole in the wall place but the food is terrific and real Chinese, they actual have a special menu for the real Chinese food.”

“I like to come here because I can get real Chinese food here, not that deep fried meat candy covered in sweet gloppy sauce that moose Americans see as Chinese food. Get the Chinese specials, like lion's head meatballs or the whole steamed fish cod with gingers and scallions or clay pot specials. The place has been there for 20 years and is one of the few places to get real Chinese food, not the junk served at pf changs. There is nothing sweet and sour in Chinese food, just American dumbed down Chinese food.”

“Great pizza place has its own style. Not New York, yet not Chicago, but extremely tasty. Friendly staff and manager who runs a family friendly place where you can take the kids after a ballgame. Or you can catch a game and a beer there. And Im pretty sure they a have a reasonably priced pizza buffet thing on Tuesdays. I grew up next to this pizza place after moving from SF and I love this place. The only reason it's an 8 on atmosphere is because it's not all super screen ridden, with flashy gambling devices or anything. But, that is what's cool about the place they have just enough room to make excellent pizza and serve it to you very comfortably. Average priced pizza I guess, but that's alright, because it's well worth it.”

“The food was innovative and fabulous, by far some of the best we've had! The ambience was trendy but subtle. The presentation was top notch--including the table ware. The service was quiet, polite and efficient. Prices were high but worth it--figure $60 per person plus drinks, tax and tip. This place could compete with the best of Napa Valley, San Francisco, or Las Vegas-except for a major flaw--the attitude toward wine. The corkage is an outrageous $30. The wine list is mediocre and several wines were available in the $30 range!! The waiters, though really pleasant and competent in food service, didn't know how to pour.”

“I've been going to Louie's since I was a college student at Nevada (1970). Since I left Reno in 1974, every trip back I try to fit in dinner at Louie's. The atmosphere hasn't changed. Friendly - Basque dining is a great way to make new friends. The best pecan punches and you can't beat a platter of Basque Steak and fries! The waitresses can sometimes be a bit ornery, but at Louie's that seems to just add to the atmosphere and charm. Fun bar to settle in either before or after dinner!”

“Its one of that hole in the wall places that locals only know about. I really do love there food, but you have to have somewhat of an artsy vibe truly dig the place. Over all great food, great atmosphere, good music.”

“The Sweetwater cafe is a fairly good restaurant for the money you pay. They have a steak and lobster special that is a great deal as well as other specials. Every time we come to Reno we usually stay at sly or Eldora do and we eat breakfast there. The service is a hit or misses. Either you have a great server or a not so great one (not terrible, just not anything to talk about).”

“Ask for "the cave." It is a private little table that is hidden a few steps above the rest of the main dinning area. Very cool old house that was converted into a restaurant. They also have a great patio with its own bar out back. They have live music on the weekends that is festive and super fun. Homemade chips are crispy and good. They also serve home made flour tortillas. Totally recommend the cartinas plate. So tender and juicy. Waitress can be found floating from table to table chatting with the customers and thanking them for the business. I love eating here. There is a great spirit in the restaurant. Nice to walk the Truckkee River after a big dinner there. The river has paths all along it. ”

“The staff (especially the cashier and hostess) are the most indifferent, uninterested group I have encountered. I have never seen one smile from anyone employed there, and the tall cashier girl borders on plain rude. If it wasn't for the acceptable assortment of food and the quickness of dining in a short time, I'd never patronize the place due to the people who don't seem to care if you ever show up again.”

“If you want a great meal, this is the place to go. If you are in a party of four or less, phone ahead and ask for a "cabin." You will get a private table with tall walls around it. You'll love the privacy. Stay as long as you desire they won't rush you.”

“On Sunday, Feb. 25 2007 at 4:00pm -- We ordered a combination platter of two chili Relonos rice and beans. The food looked great on the platter. An enormous serving. We were impressed. Unfortunately, it was tasteless. There was no flavor. If you boiled rice and sprinkled it with orange food coloring you had have the same thing. If you boiled beans and mashed them in the water it would be exactly like their beans. The chili relenos were probably boiled and not drained since they were watery, too. Someone needs to check on the cooks -- your restaurant would not last much longer if you do not change things.”

“"The Biggest Little Casino In The World". The awful burger is great, big burger and a pound of fries. When you walk in you probably won't find a seat but order at the counter any way. By the time your food comes some one will have left and you can eat. This place isn't fancy but the hangover omelet is a cure, okay maybe it's the Best Bloody Mary in town that cures the party from your head or just starts a new one.”

“They specialize in fish tacos, so if that's not your thing - and it's not mine - you will be disappointed as I was. I had a chicken quesadilla. The chicken was very tough and dry and had no flavor. My friend had sirloin steak burrito. The steak pieces in the burrito were huge (not burrito-friendly), and looked and tasted as though they had been boiled for a long time.”

“Lulus was recommended 3 years ago by a Casino Host. When in Reno it is a must. The menu is varied and never boring. They have great bartenders who mix wonderful cocktails. There is not a restaurant anywhere in Reno which can compare. It is not a restaurant for someone who wants the everyday steak and lobster, but for patrons who want to tantalize their mouths. ”

“For anyone to fully experience Reno, they MUST check out the pneumatic diner. It is a very funky little place, when it comes to "atmosphere" few rival the pneumatic Diner. They have a variety of strange and wonderful foods, many vegetarian or vegan. If you are looking for good priced, healthy and delicious food with an unusual atmosphere, give the Pneumatic Diner a try.”

“I am from Reno, and one of my favorite memories is going to the "Little" Nugget diner (the other Nugget is John Ascuaga's) and eating an Awful-Awful, with some ranch dressing on the side!! Now, whenever I am able to make it up to Reno, the visit won't be complete without me having an Awful-Awful. Best burger period!! And the rest of the menu is great too!!”

“Great home made tortillas. The margaritas are not for the weak, so be prepared to have a good time. Chorizo and eggs are fantastic. Not far from downtown, yes you can walk. More of a locals place, which is much better than the tourist traps.”

“Last week I ordered an old fashioned hamburger without cheese (no fries), and a side salad with iced tea. What I got was: a hamburger patty (at least I think it was) - on a dry bun - which means no mayo, mustard, catsup, anything! (thank God for the salad) and an iced tea that must have been two weeks old. What a waste of money. As bad as the Beef Burrito that tasted like Mom's pot roast. Not the first bad experience there, will never go again!”

“This restaurant is one of the first places our family visits when in town. The atmosphere is always up beat and authentic. The food is always fresh, hot client and worth the wait, which there always is because it's a top quality restaurant. Very clean, very friendly. We are planning a visit at the end of this month and can't wait to have dinner at Bertha Miranda's.”

“We were very excited to visit this restaurant, but were very disappointed in what we got. The food was served on "hot" plates, but cooled down very quickly and was cold before we finished eating. The pitcher of Margarita's had very little ice in it, and the salsa was weak. We left wishing we had gone somewhere else. ”
