User Reviews for Rockville Restaurants« Go back to Weymouth Travel GuideResearch User Reviews for Rockville (1-14 of 14)Houston's Restaurant 11
“Always like Houston's restaurant in Rockville, MD. Last visit was horrible from start to finish one Sunday evening. We went from dirty glasses to two separate dirty plates (one plate so slippery that one would think that they were chinking on the dish soap). This followed by the wilted brow lettuce Caesar Salad that my wife had to send back and refused to get another. We interpreted this as a cut in corners on quality due to the bad economy or that they simply didn't want us to dine there anymore. Needless to say, we don't dine there anymore. We now frequent Clyde's and the Daily Grill in its place. No problem whatsoever since the change.”

“The food was horrible. I will say that the wait staff was very pleasant I would not recommend the food it was cold and it look like slop. I could have made a better meal.”

“I enjoyed my meal. My date and I both had steaks which were the best. They were tender and juicy and also hardly any fat. I would also recommend the fruit punch. I would say the ambiance was the best and it was a nice place for an intimate dinner.”

“The food is very good for the money. The place is not in LA. I will not go back.”

“Great food, specialty thin French fries, we absolutely love going here for every special occasion. The hickory burger is amazing. You really should go.”

“My girlfriend and I had the pleasure of dining at the newly renovated and reopened Andalucia Restaurant. It has changed owners and the menu now features a blend of Northern Spanish, Portuguese, and Hearty Italian dishes. The ambience was rustic. The decor evokes the type of intimate, old-world style dining experience, while the flat screens at the new bar allow access to the wide world of sports and news. Our Server was polite and when he did not know the answer to a question about the menu he quickly checked with the chef and relayed us a definitive answer. The wine list leaves something to be desired, but with excellent prices for the Spanish and Portuguese wines, and a half-price bottle night (for which we will be returning), it worked nicely. The star of this evening was the food. Robustly flavored dishes served in generous portions. We started with the grilled calamari in lemon garlic sauce and then I had individual paella that blew the old Andalucia's paella off the map. My girlfriend chose the filet mignon and the quality of the cut was better than I expected. Quite excellent. At the end I had a wonderful Segafredo Espresso (if you've never had segafredo you don't know what you're missing) and she had caramel flan. The portions are especially generous for the price. The only real letdown was the wine list and that was still a bargain for the wine we chose (Quinta de Parrotes). For the price, the new Andalucia delivers a great bargain. If you're not feeling like that same tired spaghetti house, I recommend you head down to Andalusia. I doubt you will be disappointed. .”

“I loved what I got, steak salad with noodles. My husband got a hamburger and he said it was very good. However, it is a bit overpriced and I do not like their "no cell phone" policy. It makes no sense to ban cell phones. I assume due to noise issues, when they allow children to make a fuss in the restaurant. To me, that's more annoying than hearing someone talking loudly on the cell phone!”

“The food is amazing! The only criticism is on Friday and Saturday nights they play Greek music. But it's so loud so you can't always here your dinner party.”

“Always a satisfying meal. Attentive, young and always ready to please servers. Great selection. Fresh salads. Great for breakfast any time of day. Always decorated for upcoming holiday. Senior citizen's two for one before 6:00 p.m...”

“Very disappointed. The staff was friendly and the atmosphere was nice, but the food was mediocre. Crab cakes were tiny and the steak was filled with fat and overpriced. I have been to many restaurants where the food was much better and better priced (chop house in D.C., mikes in silver spring). I ended up paying 110. With tip for one entree, two salads, two entrees, and two beverages. Very limited menu and everything is a la carte.”

“This is a little in-house cafeteria for people who work in the building. The menu hasn't changed in the seven years it's been open, very limited selection, often greasy fried food, and expensive salad bar, unfriendly proprietress who seems only interested in watching the pennies without regard for patrons or workers. The worst of the captive-audience scenarios.”

“The lamb chops were among the best I've ever had, and the wine list quite extensive. Service was quite attentive when I was with a large party on a weeknight, but surly and unresponsive when there were just 4 (very undemanding diners) of us on a weekend. When I last visited in April, the hostess' greeting was cold and unpleasant...but the lamb chops are so worth it. ”

“My daughter recently planned a surprise party for me at Amalfi in Rockville, a cute little family-owned Italian restaurant located off the main roads in Rockville, MD. She reserved the private dining room for our planned party of 15 (the room holds 35, I think). Unfortunately, we were off on the head count and 28 people showed up (almost double)!! The Amalfi staff and management handled it very well, and seamlessly, before my daughter could even say anything to the staff, they had noticed the increased attendance and printed up the additional copies of the customized menu for our group, brought out additional appetizers, and had us seated in no time, all on a already busy night. The food was tasty, everything was hot, and we all got served at the same time (no waiting for the other half of the table to get their food!) Kudos and many thanks to them for pulling off what could have been a chaotic night, and all with a smile!”

“We have eaten at the Andalucia several times and regularly introduce it to friends. The Spanish cuisine is excellent, service friendly, and ambience attractive. Advertises Flamenco dancing on Thursday evenings; we haven't seen that yet, but it should be entertaining. Location is off the beaten path, but worth finding.”
