Grumps Cafe
Jul 5, 2007 by Tim from Washington, DC

Overall Rating: 1 User Rating Score: 1
Food:[2] • Service:[1] • Atmosphere:[5]

  • Dogs were outside.
  • The food, the prices, serving time.

“I won't go into how disappointed I was with Grumps, because quite frankly it gave me the Grumps. I waited 25 minutes for a veggie sandwich to go. That's lettuce, tomato, onion, and bell pepper on a bun. There was literally nothing to cook but it took 25 minutes for that....and the place was empty. Oh...and that sandwich was $9.”

Marias Scilian Ristorante Cafe
Apr 8, 2007 by barbara from huntingtown, md

Overall Rating: 5 User Rating Score: 5
Food:[6] • Service:[4] • Atmosphere:[8]

  • Nice location.
  • Just about everything else.

“Very disappointing! Chose Maria¿s based on recommendation of an acquaintance and reviews (although all were not positive); didn't care that it is pricey, just wanted great food for an anniversary dinner. Our service was poor - he seemed a bit aloof, didn't tell us the specials of the day (after dinner we noticed the sign in the window), didn't offer a wine list until we asked, then brought the wrong kind. The menu is al a carte so everything (soup, salad, entrees) are priced separately. We ordered the spinach salad for two which was about $13.00. It was plain baby spinach dumped on a plate with about two tablespoons of crumbled bacon and mushrooms in the center - very little dressing - we asked for some and was given a bottle of oil and wine vinegar. My entree, red snapper, was good. My husband, veal piccata, was tough and kind of a slimy texture on the outside. Each entree costs about $28.00. All in all - definitely not worth the effort - find some other Italian restaurant. Carrabba's which a chain beats Maria¿s on all levels is.”

Sams Waterfront Cafe
Mar 14, 2007 by Aidanora from Severna Park, MD

Overall Rating: 3 User Rating Score: 3
Food:[3] • Atmosphere:[7]

  • The view.
  • The service!

“I experienced the worse service I have ever had at Sam's. The waiter was extremely rude to my table. The food was okay, the view is amazing, but the service was horrendous. I went for lunch on my birthday and left in tears because the waiter made me feel so horrible. He threw my plate in front of me. I saw him point to my table to another waiter and talk about us while we were right there! They are very unprofessional. It's a shame because it's a great location. I will never go there again!”

Feb 19, 2007 by Thom from Annapolis

Overall Rating: 6 User Rating Score: 6
Food:[6] • Service:[7] • Atmosphere:[4]

  • Loved the hamburger.
  • The soup made both of us sick and the smoke from cigarettes was awful.

“Good food. Stay away if you don't smoke. A real smoky place.”

Overall Rating: 10 User Rating Score: 10
Food:[10] • Service:[10] • Atmosphere:[10]

  • The food and atmosphere were wonderful.
  • It could be a little cold outside during the winter.

“It's the best seafood restaurant in Maryland. All the friend food and hushpuppies were great! I had one of the best lunches of my lunch. It's great to sit at the picnic benches looking at the water in the summer time!”

Overall Rating: 9 User Rating Score: 9
Food:[10] • Service:[9] • Atmosphere:[9]

  • Great food and staff.
  • Kind of small for big families.

“Awesome place! My husband and I ate the best burgers we've ever had. They have every imaginable condiment. Fun place. The staff is friendly and if you eat a 1 pound burger, they put up your picture. Highly recommended. I wish they had one in California. Grasshopper.”

Cafe Normandie
Aug 22, 2006 by Disappointed from Virginia

Overall Rating: 4 User Rating Score: 4
Food:[4] • Service:[5] • Atmosphere:[4]

  • Wine.
  • Food, Management/Owners, Atmosphere.

“I read several reviews before selecting this restaurant for our day trip to Annapolis. Despite several mixed reviews, I decided to give it the benefit of the doubt. I had walked by it many times before and was curious about the touting of a #1 rating for Annapolis Restaurants in a top 100 restaurant in the Washington DC/Baltimore area. BIG MISTAKE! Restaurant was promoted as having a romantic ambiance; however, this was not the case. I found it to have more of a retiree/family atmosphere. With the exception of the goat cheese salad, our food was less than mediocre and certainly not worth the $18-28 entire cost. I had Salmon with what tasted like Goya rice that I could have easily made at home - not to mention that it did not compliment the meal. Our deserts were average but nothing special and again not worth the average $8 price. We did enjoy the wine selection. Our service was fine; although management was lax in responding appropriately to a table of disruptive patrons who negatively impacted the dining experience of several parties nearby when it was brought to their attention. Don't make the same mistake I did, listen to the reviews! I hope that taking the time to share this feedback, you will have a more memorable dining experience in Annapolis then we did!”

Joss Cafe & Sushi Bar Inc
Jun 1, 2006 by Jessica from Annapolis

Overall Rating: 8 User Rating Score: 8
Food:[10] • Service:[9] • Atmosphere:[8]

  • Awesome service, excellent food.
  • Price is a little high.

“Joss is a great place to eat. I go there at least once a week and every time the service is friendly and fast, the restaurant atmosphere is very inviting, and the food is to die for. I have eating sushi at a lot of places in the annapolis/arnold/severna park area and I still have yet to find a better place to eat sushi.”

Jalapenos Mexican Foods
Mar 22, 2006 by bev from Annapolis

Overall Rating: 10 User Rating Score: 10
Food:[10] • Service:[10] • Atmosphere:[9]

  • Call to find out when they have the Flamenco Dancers coming.
  • Don't let the dollar store next door fool you, the inside is beautiful. Very romantic. Waterfall and murals and double sided fireplace.

“In my search for California Mexican food, I ran across Jalapenos. It's not what I was used to in California. It's better. The dinner rolls they bring to the table are to die for. Wonderful margaritas and the Sangria is fabulous! The service was amazing, friendly, fast, truly nice people too. The chef is a magician, truly creative with a Spanish flare mixed with Mexican favorites. Do not miss the Chi my conga banana cheese cake dessert. My daughter who lives in CA makes a pilgrimage for it whenever she visits.”
