• Our kids ate free!
• The steak was appalling, staff too busy to do their job.

“For starters I ordered a Mango Daiquiri and got a strawberry (I had to pay for the waitresses mistake), I ordered a salad with French and got ranch. I ordered the Filet Oscar which is a $27.99 steak (I don't mind paying that for a great steak), I was sadly disappointed! I got a steak that was burnt to a crisp on the outside (I ordered medium) the steak was supposed to be covered with lobster (I got one bite) and topped with Bernaise Sauce, it was covered with Hollandaise! The waitress offered no solution, acted like she was too busy to hear our concerns. If you enjoy a great steak & fine dining I highly recommend staying clear of this mountain jack.”

“The manager was the rudest person I have ever had to deal with in my entire life! The food is mediocre, at the very best (my and my husbands dinner, were both under cooked with a soggy taste). The wait staff acted as if they worked at a fast food joint. I would say do not waste your time with this place! It will leave a very bad taste in your mouth.”

• Side salad was good and the wait help was nice.
• Prime rib was not that good, the mushroom couldn't be eaten.

“I was told The Prime was the best in town by the help, I would have to disagree strongly. Close to the worst I have ever had. The salad was good. The stuffed mushrooms were also the worst I have ever had. They asked if something was wrong because I ate only 2, that was nice that they asked and just didn't take the plate full away.”

• Looks like they are freshening the decor.
• Parking lot could use work.

“I have known about Mountain Jack's for years, however, it had fallen out of my rotation of restaurants that my wife and I usually visit. I had the opportunity to have lunch with clients at Mountain Jack's and was impressed. My wife and I returned for dinner a few weeks later and I must say that my steak and her salmon were much better than the so called "Fine Dining" steakhouses around town. Our server was personable and knowledgeable about the menu. There were no specials when we went in but our server explained that the menu was new and there were some new items on the menu and they still served the salad at our table. We will look forward to returning.”

• Quick service, excellent food.
• Nothing on this trip.

“In a few words, we could not have chosen a better place! First, despite being busy we were seated immediately. Service was excellent, orders taken promptly, all specials and details explained clearly. My drink glass never got empty. Then the food. I can only say it was excellent. I have the regular cut 12 oz Prime Rib, ($22) cooked to perfection, cut with the fork and melted in my mouth. My friend likes rare, and got his steak spot-on.”

“I go there a lot. I go mainly for the sushi bar it has as part of the all you can eat. It has four huge buffet tables plus carries mooneyes ice cream.”

“I went there after a movie; it was quite crowded, but got in right away. The service by staff was impeccable. Although we only ordered appetizers, they were very good. I would recommend this Applebee's to everyone.”

• Food, service, atmosphere.
• Parking lot was a little annoying to locate. Hidden driveway.

“The food was absolutely amazing, a transcendental religious experience. Our party of four ordered the Prime Rib (the "Best steak in town", according to their menu, and that held to be true) and the whiskey-pepper top sirloin, as well as vegetables, soups, salads, crab cakes, and a triple-mouse slice of cake to share. Our server was friendly, helpful, and clearly enjoyed both his restaurant and its food-- he made several recommendations, kept our glasses full, and checked back on us to ask what we thought of everything several times. The steak was incredible-- they served our medium up medium, and it was so tender you could cut it with a fork. Better than Big Buck's, better than Outback, better than Macaroni Grill. The food was expensive, but not pricey for what it -was. I would definitely go back again and again.”

• Soft shell crabs are always great.
• Our server added their own tip to our charge card without our approval.

“I have been going to Frans for many years. Food is always good, as is the service. Recently, our server decided to add an additional 20% tip to our charge card even though we crossed out the tip on the charge slip and gave him a 20% tip in cash. Worst yet, when we called restaurant back, they said it was their policy to add 20% to each charge. I was there one week earlier, used a charge card, and the server did no such thing. So diners beware, Frans thinks it's ok to steal money from you by adding it to your charge card. And Fran OBriens, looks like you won't be seeing my charge card any longer.”

• It was next to my hotel.
• Poor service, poor food.

“Went on a Sunday night, as it was next to my hotel. There was an Asian girl on reception, and she seemed to be having a major problem with my server. A lady spilled her drink, and was moved to another table, but another diner was shown to her wet table, and nobody wiped it up. Another group left, because they had been sat for 15 minutes, and nobody had attended to them. My server was friendly enough and efficient, but she was on her own, and there were far too many people for one server. When the food turned up, it was stringy and disappointing. I didn't stay for dessert coffee, and will not be back. The atmosphere was bad, with an obvious problem between waitress and receptionist not hidden from the customers.”

“I was here for training at Fanuc and decided to go to Mountain Jacks for dinner. I love steak! You just can't get steak in CT like you can out here in MI. I sat at the bar, had a drink and ordered. The salad came out promptly along with a great loaf of bread. I ordered a NY strip steak that also came out in a timely manner. It was awesome! I was just about done with my meal when two men walked in and started to get obnoxious towards me as I was minding my own. After verbally abusing them I quickly got my check, through down cash and left. It was a good thing I was just about done with my meal. Anyway, the manager and the waitress followed me outside and apologized for the situation. They invited me back the next night (tonight) for a meal on the house. I thought that was very considerate and thanked them. All in all I thought the place was great. I will write again after my free meal tonight.”

• Quality of meal, value.
• Atmosphere not as intimate as the old Detroit lilys.

“I recently visited this restaurant for the second time, and found the experience quite pleasant overall. I went with a small group, including one older gentleman who is very hard to please. He could not find anything to complain about. The food was excellent. The service was good. The wine ordered was enjoyable. Considering the price of steakhouses these days, and the tendency for everything to be a la carte, the fact that the meal included an antipasto tray, soup, and salad was quite a nice value. I had the opportunity to visit the Detroit locations several times before it closed, and although I feel that the atmosphere of the Detroit location was more intimate, I was not at all disappointed with the presentation at the auburn hills location. I would highly recommend this restaurant - the filet mignon was wonderful.”

• The food is very good.
• The poor service.

“It was a Saturday afternoon and we decided to take our paster and his wife out for a nice dinner. And we were well served and all but at the end a waiter was picking up our food when I was still eating it! I was not even half way done when it happened! our paster and his wife got there food picked up also in the middle of them eating. They asked if they could get a refill and they refused to get one for them! We were very disappointed in the service we received. But we will return and will hope that we will get better service for the money we paid for.”

• Food is just right and I grew up in Maryland, so I know fresh fish and crab
• Price, not very romantic or private atmosphere.

“Food is excellent, and prepared perfectly. Thus for a late lunch we spent about $31 (after the coupon) and that is just for water, entree, and salad or soup. So it would have been about $50 for a light lunch for two. Atmosphere is not really anything special, but fine, long room with bar and booths, some tables in the front, and possibly in the back. ”

• It was close to our hotel.
• The parking lot was in horrible condition.

“I went to the restaurant on a Friday afternoon at 4:15. I was with a very large party. which included several children under 7 yrs old. There was no one else in the restaurant. The server asked what we were celebrating, I told her our brother had passed away. We had taken several tables in one area of the restaurant. The table with the children was served last. we had been there at least 1 hour before the children were served. They were not even offered a cracker. I feel a more sensitive server would have offered to serve the children first, it had been a very long day for them. A member of our party overheard the servers discussing how they hate serving large parties. It was obvious the server was not happy to be serving us. by the look on her face. We were not offered refills on our drinks and my sisters dessert had pieces of plastic in it. I am sure our party spent well over $1,000.00 that day. I was extremely disappointed in the service, and since my brother has passed away, I certainly will never be returning.”
