“Happened across this place when jumping off the interstate for something different than the ordinary. Boy was I ever glad we did. Upon entering, it wasn't quite opening time but we were welcomed in warmly and treated like "regulars". Didn't take long for the place to get rocking. The food was great and service super. Our first visit has us hooked and we stop in any time we travel that area .wish we lived closer. HIGHLY RECOMMEND.”

“I have been to the cafe des amiss in beaux bridge for breakfast on the weekend several times. The food is great. My favorite is the crawfish omelet. Saturday morning is not a good time to bring small children as the music is rather loud and the place is very crowded. If you are in the area I recommend you stop in for some great food and atmosphere. I will be stopping in again. Maybe on a weekday or for dinner.”

“One of the best restaurant experiences ever! Passing through la and wanting some in-season crawfish, wound up at Landry¿s after walking out of the "world-famous" mulatto¿s (only fried stuff on the menu - no boiled crawfish!). Had very fresh and tasty oysters on the half shell and then 4 lbs of boiled crawfish (shared - no problem?) Seasoned perfectly, for a very reasonable price. The best part, however, was the service! ”

“Mutates (mule-lots) is the first place you hit when you fly into Baton Rouge in the early evening and drive west on 10 towards Lafayette because there is always a live Cajun band (no, there are no dead Cajun bands) and they are all old time. Don't let the tourist buses keep you away. It's practically the only place open on Monday nights if you want Cajun music and/or food. You can always sit at the bar and order a beer and an appetizer, but you need a table if you want to see the dancers and band. Al Berard rules! He is one hot man! And he plays violin, mandolin, and guitar well, too. Oh, and he sings - probably the only Cajun vocalist who can hold a legato line. When his Basin Brothers play, you are hearing the best real Cajun music there is. Don't be afraid to go up and talk to Al. As for food, the fried food batter is much lighter and better than what is usual at Cajun seafood joints. I would order both the fried alligator and shrimp again. But if Al Berard is playing, you won't care what you are eating.”

“If you can only pass through the area this is the place to go for of a sampling of Cajun food, music and hospitality.”

“Excellent crawfish omelet and scrambled eggs with crawfish ettoufee. Best homemade biscuits in the world.”
