Don'S Seafood And Steakhouse Of Baton Rouge Inc
Aug 3, 2009 by Malcolm from Baton Rouge

Overall Rating: 9 User Rating Score: 9
Food:[9] • Service:[8] • Atmosphere:[5]

  • A lot of older people eat there. I am 65 and I feel at home there.
  • The location is no longer a good area. It was okay years ago.

“Have been eating there every Wednesday night for the last year. The Wednesday night special is the seafood platter and is very good for the price. However, the quantity is not consistent but the taste is always the same. For the price I would not get the seafood plater if it were not on special for $12.95. On the whole the waiters are nice and prompt. The lady that is the hostess on Wednesday nights is so very sweet and will always try to get you the table of your choice. The parking area is large and they have a security guard. The area has gone down but the restaurant is easily accessible.”

  • Food is ok.
  • Not worth the rude treatment.

“Creepy staff had the nerve to ask a member of my party. What can I do for you blondie in a very creepy rude way. When told this was not acceptable staff member said he had freedom of speech and could say what he wanted.”

Superior Bar & Grill
Oct 22, 2008 by Erin from Baton Rouge

Overall Rating: 10 User Rating Score: 10
Food:[10] • Service:[10] • Atmosphere:[10]

  • I love the upbeat atmosphere of customers and servers and the fresh, delicious food!
  • The portions are big, so don't fill up on the complimentary and delicious chips and salsa too quickly!

“Superior Grill is a great place for families, friends and co-workers alike. The friendly, fun atmosphere coupled with an extensive menu full of meals made from fresh ingredients each day. I love the quesadillas just as much as I love the fajitas and the mesquite grilled chicken salad! The new breakfast menu is a must because of its wide variety of delicious breakfast favorites as well as new Mexican twists on the traditional. Your server will even bring you a newspaper to accompany your morning meal! Don't forget to come back at night time on the weekend for live music on the patio. There is always something fun and exciting going on at Superior. No wonder there are so many regulars who simply can't get enough!”

Burger King
Sep 21, 2008 by Jean from Baton Rouge

Overall Rating: 5 User Rating Score: 5
Food:[1] • Service:[1] • Atmosphere:[1]

  • Taste of food.
  • Don't get what you order.

“Perkins Road, Baton Rouge, LA, constantly gives wrong order, leaves something out, etc., but never fails to charge for it. Seems the manager tries (I complained once before but it usually is not worth the time) but he apparently has no control. We have got the proper order just enough to cause us to go again to the Perkins Road location (we seldom eat fast food) but this is probably the last time we will try. We love the taste of the items we order but you can never depend on getting what you order.”

Carlos Mexican Foods Inc

Overall Rating: 1 User Rating Score: 1

  • Leaving the place.
  • Everything. Please don't waste your hard earned money. Go elsewhere.

“This restaurant is the worst. The inside of the restaurant is so dark you can hardly see what your eating. The food is so greasy and in the smallest portions. Won't be back. PS: I went to the restroom there and I won't recommend doing that either.”

Uncle O's Cafe Inc
Dec 22, 2007 by Mary from Kansas City

Overall Rating: 8 User Rating Score: 8
Food:[9] • Service:[8] • Atmosphere:[7]

  • Food, owner is a really nice fellow.
  • Sometimes the service can be a bit slow if they get busy.

“As a dam Yankee who has the good luck to get to work in baton rouge every so often, uncle O's is my favorite place to eat, hands down. The Monday red beans & rice w/ Andouille and Friday fried catfish covered with crawfish Etouffee lunch specials are great food for great value. The best thing on the menu, however, is the crab bisque. Not to be missed! I've been trying to pry the recipe out of the owner since 1998, with no luck. I've traveled all over the US and in Europe; found no crab bisque anywhere as well as this. That's o.k.; it only makes me look forward to my trips to baton rouge more.”

The Melting Pot

Overall Rating: 3 User Rating Score: 3
Food:[3] • Service:[8] • Atmosphere:[7]

  • Friendly service.
  • Over Priced for what little selection you get.

“I went in with an open mind and tried everything. Nothing seemed to taste right. And by the time we left there everyone in my party weren't feeling too hot. And it was way overpriced for having to cook your own food!”

Don'S Seafood And Steakhouse Of Baton Rouge Inc
Mar 31, 2007 by Janis from Boston

Overall Rating: 4 User Rating Score: 4
Food:[5] • Service:[2] • Atmosphere:[4]

  • Hush puppies.
  • Sorry, nothing much.

“So sad to see yet another Louisiana tradition that has deteriorated to this level. I am originally from LA and when I go home to visit family, always stop at Don's on Airline Hwy in Baton Rouge. This last stop was, unfortunately, my final trip there. We went early on a Saturday evening to avoid the rush. Our waiter was either new (and poorly trained) or just nonchalant and could have cared less about service. He forgot our drink order. We had asked for water and did not receive any. I had to go to the bar myself and get two glasses of water. Don's used to offer freshly starched white table cloths which lent an air of dignity. They have been replaced with white vinyl. The hush puppies that magically appeared were great, as always but I'm afraid that was the highlight of the dinner. We were a party of four and tried a variety of "platters" as well as gumbo. The gumbo was nasty, no other word for it. The platters were nondescript and greasy. Worst of all, (I obviously cannot prove it, but certainly think this to be the truth) the crinkle-cut french fries were straight out of the bag! ”

Gino's Restaurant Corporation
Nov 17, 2006 by owenbr from baton rouge

Overall Rating: 6 User Rating Score: 6
Food:[6] • Service:[4] • Atmosphere:[4]

  • Only game in town.
  • Flipping tables -- felt very rushed on every visit.

“Gino's should be great, they are pretty much the only home-grown, non-chain Italian restaurant in town. The good is good, not brilliant. They crabmeat pasta appetizer is great, but very rich. The veal they serve is tender, but not the best baby veal I¿ve eaten by far. Anarchy is excellent. My rub with gin¿s is that they are trying to flip the tables example: visit 1 walked in and heard the owner yelling at the waiters to rush the early dinners¿ get them out" this is when I walked in with a 6:30 reservation (feel the love) visit 2 - we were asked 3 times before out cocktails arrived to place our order. I had placed part of my appetizer to the side, because I was afraid that my meal would come out before I could finish it (as happened) -- the bus boy tried to take this plate 4 times while I was eating, and finally asked "when was I going to give it up?" visit 3 - the table next to me was waiting for 2 of it's 4 numbers for about 5 minutes -- the waiter came twice and asked if they wanted to place their order and not wait on the other folks. On every visit -- our appetizers came out whenever they were ready, nothing was served together. ”

Overall Rating: 9 User Rating Score: 9
Food:[9] • Service:[9] • Atmosphere:[8]

  • The price was outstanding for the food.
  • Not a good place for a real date.

“The food was great especially for the price. I got seafood stuffed tilapia covered with craw fish toffee with two sides and a drink for under $10. Can't beat the value at any other downtown restaurant. ”

Overall Rating: 8 User Rating Score: 8
Food:[8] • Service:[8] • Atmosphere:[8]

  • Food
  • Too dark

“If you want to run into some of the movers and shakers or Louisiana politics, then take a trip to this old Red Stick favorite. They claim that Moma still cooks here and you can tell. It does take a little longer to get your food but the wait is worth it. It is a little dark inside but that just makes it more romantic. You will get caught gawking as the political celebs come rolling in, especially when the legislature is in session.”

“Skip the chains when you get to the Red Stick. This is a great place to have lunch or dinner. The Polo Pizza is fantastic for two. Always order the sensation salad (an original creation of Baton Rouge). The hot fresh bread is worth the trip alone. Located just off the LSU campus, this is a great pre or post game stop.”

Food:[10] • Service:[8] • Atmosphere:[10]

  • Limited seating

“This is the Italian restaurant to beat in the Red Stick. Located in the Perkins Overpass District, it is one of 10 places within walking distance of each other. The place is small but very old Italy. Get there early for lunch. There is also outdoor seating whcih is great from March to November. The spaghetti and meatball is superb. The five cheese lasagna is wonderful. The house dressing is great! Good wine cellar. Easy to find off Interstate 10 at Perkins.”
