• Clean, attentive service, nice decor, locally owned.
• The food was pretty disappointing. Not worth the money.

“I was so disappointed in this place. Had been told it was good so I had high expectations, but the food was not that good. It was later in the evening when I went, but thats no excuse. The night I went the food was about on par with Denny's. It isn't as cheap as Denny's, though. Go to Perkins.”

• Dessert was delicious.
• No kid's menu.

“The place would be a romantic setting for a couple or a few friends. The large square tables our group of 15 had made it difficult to converse quietly with the people that sat across the table (they were too far away). We ordered dessert that was very delicious but did not get dinner. I was amazed that the place had a cute kid's bathroom but did not offer a kid's menu. Reasonable price suggestions for a kid's menu are spaghetti, personal size peanut butter & jelly pizza, mini corn dogs and grilled cheese.”

• Central Location - It's now La Hacienda.
• Nights are not safe.

“John's has been closed for years now - That building has been LaHacienda for at least 8 years. View the local Assessor's site I rated all a 1 because it's no longer John's. Note LaHacienda is good, but said to be way too rough at nights. I would stick to using It as a "Lunch Only" place.”

• Non-smoking area is less well decorated.

“Stopped for an early supper on my way to an event at the Orpheum. The prime rib meal was excellent and the portions were generous. The waitress was attentive to my needs and checked on my needs appropriately. A great WWII themed restaurant for an early evening family excursion.”

• Not one thing!

“Awesome place to eat! The atmosphere is great, and is perfect for all types of people. You can get soda in an old glass bottle, and tons of hot dogs for a pretty reasonable price! Perfect for a casual Saturday lunch, or for the hungry college student! You have got to eat here!!!”

• The buns are fresh, the dogs grilled, onions fresh, chili is not greasy.
• Closes at 4:30 PM.

“Simply the best chili dog anywhere. No matter how many you order you will go back for more. Add this to your list of places to go before you die.”

“We're never disappointed when we eat at the Green Gables! We love their food and are always pleasantly surprised when we get the bill. Excellent food, and the kids love their ice cream sundaes!”

“Here's another Sioux City legend!! How can you not love a good chili dog or loosemeat? And these are the best!It's the only place I know where you can still get your soda pop in glass bottles.”

“Love their onion chips and dip!! Since we live out of town, we always take home extra dip to use for home-cooked French fries. The pizza burgers are awesome!”
