“I visited Silver Creek for a happy hour event (half-priced drinks and appetizers). After having eaten at the restaurant a couple of times before for dinner, we arrived for happy hour at 5:30 and finally waited on (i.e. given water) at about 6pm and were able to order about 6:15. Once we ordered, our waitress returned to tell us that the half-price deals were over at 6pm and since it was 6:15 we could no longer take advantage of this special. Had we been able to order soon after we arrived, this would not have been a problem. Once our food did arrive, it was not what we ordered and some of it was cold. Typically, this restaurant has good food, but the service is horrible. The waitresses in the greenhouse (where we were seated) acted like we were inconveniencing them if we asked for anything (like silverware!). We will not be returning.”

“There aren't many restaurants to choose from in Rantoul, so once a week my family and I drive over to Champaign - Urbana and pick out a place to eat. Lately, it hasn't been much of a decision process, as we just keep going back to Courier. With food prices skyrocketing everywhere else, it's amazing the value you can get for your dollar at Courier. And the food is great! I've tried numerous things on the menu (which is large and diverse), and have yet to be disappointed. Their kids menu and desserts are out of this world. My only complaint (a small one) is that they can get pretty busy during dinner time.”

“Father's day brunch with 11 people, 86 degrees in atrium, could not use butter on buffet because it had melted. Manager insisted AC was working, it was just hot out. They had ceiling fans but they were turned off because they blew hot air. Charge a one year old for a child's buffet, she had a roll. No one attended to food on buffet. Beef cut and left to dry out on a cutting board. One of the worst dining experiences in memory. Everyone in room complained and management was well aware of the problem before we arrived. Management should have alerted diners to problem before seating and try to make other accommodations. Their solution was to keep packing people in and not taking responsibility.”

“It's not fancy. You order at the counter. However, it's a college student's dream. There is usually about 10 15 available entrees at any time. Most are hot and pretty fresh, although they are pre cooked. Definitely good tasting. The best part is the price. Usually under $6 for fried rice, meat/veggie entree, and egg roll. Atmosphere is pretty depressing but it's clean and they just remodeled, so it might be better. Service is quick and usually friendly, unless you get the older lady. She is not too friendly, but at least she's quick! Go in, take out, and eat at home.”

“First Wok wowed us the first time we ate there. But it can be hit or miss. Sometimes fabulous, sometimes tastes like leftovers. It is definitely not a place to dine in, but very quick pick-up for a long day. Try the sesame chicken.”

“The last of several visits has confirmed that Kennedy's needs a serious improvement in food. In the past, we've had average to below-average steaks (but good frites), average salads, ok soup, and good wines; however, the most recent experience was truly awful -- and at $132 with tip for two, a very poor value). The "sauteed" walleye was pale, limp, and flavorless; the mashed potatoes had uncooked lumps of potato (I hope); the champagne sauce was think and weak. This was apparently Kennedy's take on the French classic sole veronique, but it missed by a mile. And forget the super sweet carrot cake with two cloying sauces. What a pity, given the gorgeous Scandinavian-looking dining room with sweeping views over Stone Creek golf course -- probably the best view in town. I don't get it. Wasn't the chef at one time one of the best in town? Today, someone in the kitchen is just going thru the paces. Bottom line is that while the room may put a smile on your face, the food will bring you down and put a dent in your wallet.”

“Stopped in around the 12th of July, 2007 and it was their first night of live music under new ownership. Candy foster and the shades of blue, a 7 piece band was playing to a very crowded house. Space is extremely tight, especially when the band is as good as this one and people are compelled to dance but it was still a great time and service was prompt. This is a fun little bar and the new owners plan to keep live music in their plans.”

“This is what a Tavern is supposed to be like, long, cool, lots of old woodwork including a 1930s Brunswick art-deco bar back. Lots of great beers and a big liquor selection to go with tasty food from the grill. No fryers so they don't have French fries but the homemade potato salad more than made up for it. They also have live music several nights a week, mainly blues and rock but sometimes acoustic and bluegrass. I think they have some jazz shows coming soon. The staff is friendly and you usually find one of the new owners hanging around. If you want a laid back atmosphere to enjoy one of their unique brews (like Arcadia London Porter mmm, or one of the organics) along with solid food and live music at night then this is the place to go in C-U!”
