Chevys Fresh Mex
Feb 8, 2009 by Bia

Overall Rating: 1 User Rating Score: 1
Food:[3] • Service:[1] • Atmosphere:[5]

  • Good location.
  • This place had no redeeming qualities.

“This was by far the worst restaurant I have ever been to. The service was beyond awful. We waited for over 30 minutes for the waiter to even take our drink order. And I would have been more patient had the place been crowded. However, the waiter only had 3 tables, that is including ours. Aside from not being very attentive, he was rude as well. Also, the food took a long time, and was cold when it came out. And in all honesty, the food wasn't all that special anyway, even if it had been hot. My husband and I will never go back.”

Yus Mandarin Restaurant
Jan 10, 2009 by Chauncy from Hoffman Estates

Overall Rating: 6 User Rating Score: 6
Food:[4] • Service:[6] • Atmosphere:[4]

  • Food is good all the time and quality is consistent.
  • Take out is about half what you'd get if you ate in.

“Food is good here and service not too bad. What I dislike is that when you choose to order takeout because you do not wish to deal with the busyness, they cut the portions substantially. I like to bring meals home but it's like the meat is reduced by half or less. Seems like it would be the opposite because they don't have the cost associated with a sit down service (i.e. dishes to wash, staff to serve etc.). The prices are high to have to deal with cut portions.”

Hot Wok Village
Dec 16, 2008 by Nikki from Schaumburg

Overall Rating: 1 User Rating Score: 1
Food:[1] • Service:[1] • Atmosphere:[1]

  • Nothing.
  • Everything.

“Please never eat here! It is the worst restaurant ever. First, no matter what you order, the sauce in every meal is the same, they just add different things, pork instead of chicken, veggies instead of chicken! The food has no taste! Please do not order a veggie entree, no point, they will literally just put water chestnuts and baby corn for veggies and oh yeah one piece of some other vegetable (water chestnuts and baby corn are cheap, so it explains why they are the most seen veggies in any entree). Food is priced so much higher than the actual cost. My friend ordered a chicken entree, please don't do that. The chicken tastes old, slippery and way too chewy. The restaurant is getting rich because they are using the same ingredients in all the recipes, and selling a plate of baby corn and water chestnuts with generic sauce for $10.00!”

Chandlers Chop House & Grille
Sep 7, 2008 by Stefanie from Arlington Heights

Overall Rating: 8 User Rating Score: 8

  • The food was very good!
  • Dessert was not to good and a little noise near the bar area.

“The food was very good! I had the BQ Ribs they just fell of the bone! The Ceaser salad was the best! They have large selection on the menu from sandwiches to prime rib. The prices are not bad, from $8 to $21.00. The only thing was we sat near the bar and it was a little loud. Next time I would sit in the other area, over looking the golf course. They are also a little slow serving the food, so if your in some kind of a rush I would not go. This is a place where you should plan on being their about 2 hrs or so. We did have dessert and I have to say it was nothing to write home about! So I would save the calories next time. But all in all it was very good, I will be back minus the dessert.”

“The best Thai food in the Northwest suburbs. Excellent Curry dishes. Finding properly prepared Green Curry is not easy to do, and Thai Garden has it down. Also, excellent use of spices to attune level of spiciness for every palate.”

Smiling Buddha Restaurant, Inc
Jan 3, 2008 by Diana from Schaumburg

Overall Rating: 10 User Rating Score: 10
Food:[10] • Service:[10] • Atmosphere:[10]

  • Great food.
  • Wish the restaurant was bigger.

“Being from Los Angeles and also of Asian decent, this is the best Chinese Restaurant around. Chef's are from China and the food is authentic. In LA you get great Chinese food and moving here 25 years ago, Smiling Buddha quickly became my favorite restaurant. This is a family owned business and the owners are great on service, you can't bet the price or value! So if you want really great Chinese food, go to the Smiling Buddha, you won't be disappointed.”

Pompei
Aug 18, 2007 by Rachel

Overall Rating: 4 User Rating Score: 4
Food:[4] • Service:[4] • Atmosphere:[4]

  • Italian sausage was good.
  • Lasagna had no taste and was extremely soggy.

“Ordered take out from Pompei today. It was our second time, probably last. Each time we tried a different dish. The Lasagna was soggy and bland. It seemed to have been frozen and not heated well to dry it up a little. The Cheese Ravioli was also bland. They did however give us a lot of bread if you like bread. The fries or homemade chips were soggy with too much oil. The few crisp chips were good but the majority was soggy. The Italian sausage was the best; it did have some taste to it. Perhaps, dine in experience would be better.”

“Absolutely some of the best Tom Yum soup I have had in a long time. Travel to Thailand quite a bit and must say the chow here is quite authentic. The prices are very reasonable for dinner and a business lunch outing is virtually a steal. ”

Sal & Carvao Churrascaria
Jan 24, 2007 by Dean from Elgin

Overall Rating: 10 User Rating Score: 10
Food:[10] • Service:[10] • Atmosphere:[10]

  • For steak lovers, the best selection cooked to perfection.
  • If I had to list something negative, no menu, but called and knew of price ahead of time.

“I have been to this restaurant more than once, and have enjoyed each visit. If you are a steak lover, there is no better out there. Each selection is cooked to perfection, and delivered in a timely, unhurried environment. If you are not a red meat eater, there were selections of chicken, swordfish and salmon, all delicious! The salad bar could be a meal in itself, with unique selections to wet your appetite. I experienced this as part of a business luncheon, as well as with family members. Both visits were unique and worth repeating. .”

Thai Garden Inc

Overall Rating: 10 User Rating Score: 10
Food:[10] • Service:[10] • Atmosphere:[10]

  • The food, its delicious, delicious and delicious.
  • None.

“This is the best Thai restaurant by far. The food is authentic, tastes great and is always delicious. I've come here for years and have met many travelers from around the world who seek out this restaurant on their stop over at O¿Hare - even midway!!! Even if you're game for a quick lunch, this is also your best bet - great food. My whole family outing to Thai garden has always been a wonderful experience. Plus lots of people I talk to know of Thai garden in Schaumburg, so you know it¿s a good place by mere reputation - it¿s a heck of an icebreaker when you've gone to the same restaurant that you know and love. If you have a large party (over 10 people) give me a call and reserve a table - they are very accommodating from my experience. And finally - but most important - the food is absolutely delicious - you can have it spicy or mild - but it¿s always tasty. Their tom yum seafood soup, garlic scallops and basil duck are to die for! Highly recommended, hope you see you there! ”

Sal & Carvao Churrascaria
Aug 12, 2006 by Kathie from Hanover Park

Overall Rating: 7 User Rating Score: 7
Food:[10] • Service:[7] • Atmosphere:[6]

  • Wonderful choices of meat ~ salad bar was very, very, good. Different selections. Giant artichokes. Smoked Salmon.
  • Way too noisy for me - rather rushed atmosphere. No prices posted. No menu.

“Food was sensational. Salad bar fantastic. Very noisy. Service inconsistent. No prices posted. We thought dessert was included. Had no idea what anything cost till the bill came. $580.00 for 7 people - 4 had no cocktails. Introduced liquor at the table after dinner. That was an additional $50 that we had not anticipated. Once in a lifetime visit. Would not go back. Way too pricey ~ how much food can you really eat for $40+ a person?”

Thai Garden Inc
Jul 30, 2006 by Greg from Schaumburg

Overall Rating: 4 User Rating Score: 4
Food:[3] • Service:[4] • Atmosphere:[5]

  • Busy crowds, great location.
  • Oily, cold dishes once too many times already.

“I've been here a few times with friends that won't try other Thai restaurants. Every time we've been here, the food we order specifically the rice dishes has been oily. Last time, maybe because they were a little busy, our food came out cold and had to be redone. Instead, the same food came out, recooked or warmed up (microwave) and didn't quite taste the same as the last time we had it here. The service was far from great. Our waitress was more concerned about getting our orders and getting us out that last times we've gone there. Too many disappointments so I'm going to try something new the next time.”

Thai Garden Inc
Jul 17, 2006 by Dan from Schaumburg

Overall Rating: 6 User Rating Score: 6
Food:[4] • Service:[6] • Atmosphere:[5]

  • Busy location.
  • Not a real authentic Thai experience. More a Laos/Thai mix.

“The food was bad (to mediocre) when comparing to some of the better Thai foods (restaurants) in the area. I visit Thailand often and eat Thai food in the area often as well. The food does not give a true, authentic Thai taste you find in Thailand or at better restaurants. Don't get me wrong Thai Garden is not horrible or awful. The food here is actually better than some other restaurants masquerading as Thai. Thai Garden lacks the authenticity that you expect when going to a Thai restaurant, not an imitation. The foods at Thai Garden are more similar to Laos or Laos/Thai, which I was not impressed. The fried rice is a little greasy, the spring rolls were not the best (you can find better elsewhere), the sweet & sour sauce has a hint of spiciness (found that the kids did not like it), and the pad Thai was a little wet (sauce/oil that wasn't cooked thoroughly). If you are looking for real Thai, this is not the place for it. I would suggest exploring other Thai restaurants in the area (Schaumburg, Streamwood) and you can discover for yourself real authentic Thai.”

Yus Mandarin Restaurant

Overall Rating: 10 User Rating Score: 10
Food:[10] • Service:[2] • Atmosphere:[8]

  • Love the rainbow friend rice, speedy service and hot sauce.
  • The wait staff could act a little more like they care, at least pretend.

“This restaurant is one of my favorites. My husband and I eat there almost every week, or bring it home. The food is wonderful and it's a great place to people watch. The main complaint I have with the place and I know others would agree, is the wait staff is quite unfriendly. Occasionally you will get a waiter that actually seems to care you are there, but often, they are just rude and want you to get you out to get another party in. That doesn't stop anyone though, the food is so good, I will always come back. Their spring rolls are awesome and the hot sauce, request it, is wonderful for those that need a kick. Wonton soup is a favorite as well. It's great to be able to see in the kitchen to know the sanitation of the place as well. I have moved since first eating here, and the distance definitely hasn't kept me away. My favorite.”

Overall Rating: 7 User Rating Score: 7
Food:[8] • Service:[6] • Atmosphere:[7]

  • Unique menu.
  • Service.

“The array of choices when it comes to the meat is fantastic. All of the food is prepared well and each item tastes better than the next. As far as service, we felt rushed. I felt as if the servers were on some kind of schedule with each of their tables and at a certain point, Cinderella turned into a pumpkin and they were in a hurry to get you out to make room for another customer. I would recommend for the unique menu, but if you are looking for a good time and good conversation as well as excellent food, this may not be the place. ”

Overall Rating: 8 User Rating Score: 8
Food:[9] • Service:[7] • Atmosphere:[7]

  • Vast array of meats.
  • Too loud and feeling of being rushed through your meal.

“I enjoyed our dinner very much. The array of meat is quite extensive but needs a more poultry items. The salad selections are very interesting. As far as service, you feel as if your being rushed through your meal to make way for the next customer. I would like to have a more leisurely dinner and to enjoy my companion's conversation. Tables are a little too close and you are usually pushed into by the staff or customers walking by. Overall, very nice restaurant.”
