Texas Corral
Aug 18, 2009 by steve from merrillville

Overall Rating: 9 User Rating Score: 9
Food:[9] • Service:[8] • Atmosphere:[8]

  • Food, service was great.
  • Beer was flat every time and ice tea is too high for a beverage.

“As seniors we like this restaurant. The food, service and atmosphere are fine. The manager stopped by and said hello. We only found two things that need adjusting, the beer is always flat, every time we go in there. The iced tea is priced too high, no one in the area is that high. You can buy a jar of tea for one glass here.”

Olive Garden 1106
Feb 9, 2009 by JLH from Crown Point, IN

Overall Rating: 8 User Rating Score: 8
Food:[8] • Service:[8] • Atmosphere:[8]

  • Great food and family friendly atmosphere.
  • Can be a long wait for a table.

“I love the food here and the restaurant is clean and the staff is always friendly. The only drawback is that the restaurant is always very crowded. It is not unusual to wait 15-30 minutes for a table on average and around 60+ minutes on Saturday nights. The noise level can get very loud. Definitely worth it.”

Don Pablo's
Sep 6, 2008 by The Greasy Bag from Valparaiso

Overall Rating: 5 User Rating Score: 5
Food:[4] • Service:[7] • Atmosphere:[6]

  • Not too pricey.
  • Bland food. Screaming children.

“To me, the food wasn't spicy enough. It was like it was dumped down in the spice department for children and adults, sort of like Taco Bell food. For an appetizer, I had guacamole with tortilla chips. The guacamole was pretty good but needed some spice. I had chicken chimichanga. The chimichanga itself was okay. The accompanying rice and refried beans were terrible with no salt and absolutely no taste. Both were all dried up. I had a strawberry margarita. It was rimmed with salt instead of the customary sugar and was nearly undrinkable. All in all I'd say their biggest problem is lack of spice, not authentic Mexican food, but rather food for the masses.”

Texas Corral
Dec 11, 2007 by Bill from Valparaiso

Overall Rating: 8 User Rating Score: 8
Food:[10] • Service:[10] • Atmosphere:[1]

  • Food and service.
  • Smokey atmosphere.

“The food was excellent. Service outstanding. I just returned from lunch and upon walking in could smell a strong smell from cigarette smoke. Must be poor ventilation. I just got home and my clothes reek. Won't be back. I don't smoke, and can't understand why the restaurant smelled so bad when I was the 3rd customer of the day.”

Angelos Sicilian Cart Inc
Feb 15, 2007 by Howard

Overall Rating: 9 User Rating Score: 9
Food:[9] • Service:[9] • Atmosphere:[7]

  • Excellent veal!
  • It's a bit Smokey.

“This place is surrounded by chain restaurants that all seem busier but they are not as good. Here you can get very good Italian food at a reasonable price and the staff is exceptionally nice. I plan my trips around eating here!”

Texas Corral
Nov 1, 2006 by Sara from Otsego, MI

Overall Rating: 8 User Rating Score: 8
Food:[10] • Service:[10] • Atmosphere:[8]

  • Great food, fun atmosphere, loved the whole experience.
  • Girl at front desk must have been new she didn't know what she was doing.

“Ok so this restaurant is a really cool place for kids and family. The atmosphere makes you think you¿re in Texas and they have this thing where they have large barrels full of peanuts. They also have old fashion buckets on the tables filled with peanuts. The idea is to eat the peanut and throw the shells on the wood floor for that Texan feel. Now if you like a fancy restaurant then this is not for you. You have to come with fun and a good attitude towards the Texan way of living before you can enjoy this place. My kids had a blast especially my 3 and 4 yr old they thought is was fun to eat the peanuts, throw the shells on the floor and smash them so this is definitely a kid friendly place. The waiter we had was awesome his name was Dave (now we went to the Texas corral in highland, in not Merrill vile) he was cool and had an awesome personality and seeing that we were out of toners, when we had questions about the area and if he didn't know them he would ask and get right back to us. The food was awesome we ordered steak and we were so pleased. Then the manager came out later and asked if there was he could do for us or if our food was ok. To top if off they gave the kids balloons and we were a happy bunch of 5 that left with full tummies happy kids.”

Cafe' Fondue Inc
Aug 4, 2006 by Lisa from Lynwood, IL

Overall Rating: 10 User Rating Score: 10
Food:[10] • Service:[10] • Atmosphere:[10]

  • Food, service, ambiance.
  • Not close enough to my home for me to go daily.

“My husband, daughters and I love Cafe' Fondue! The first time we went, we had taken our daughters and a few of their friends for dessert fondue only. My husband and I immediately made reservations for the following night, for just the two of us. The wait staff was incredibly attentive without being over-bearing and they are extremely knowledgeable and helpful. We had a leisurely, romantic dinner. The salad course uses a homemade vinaigrette dressing that is so good that I have requested another salad in place of dessert in the past! The Gruyerre cheese fondue at the start of the meal is the best I have ever had. There is also a cheddar fondue, although I have not tried it. There are many choices for the entire' course. Chicken/Steak; Steak/Lobster; Steak/Shrimp; etc. Everything is extremely fresh. Dessert is heaven for chocoholics. This is a great dining experience for families also. Our teens love it and we have seen many families with young children. You can dress very casually but most diners are dressed business casual.”

Lone Star Steakhouse & Saloon
Apr 19, 2005 by Laura L . from Merrillville

Overall Rating: 10 User Rating Score: 10
Food:[10] • Service:[10] • Atmosphere:[10]

  • Out of this world steaks! We shared a huge T-bone for $22 and the staff split everything on to two plates (generously, especially the salad)
  • a little pricey, but worth it if you have a taste for a tender, delicious steak

“My mother and I shared their large T-bone. We told the waiter who was really accommodating already, that we would like an extra plate. He brought out separate salads (both huge) and for the main course, he brought the steak fully in tact, but split the potato and gave us extra”
