“As a child I remember going to the Old Mill. I was in Evansville visiting relatives and we decided to go to the Old Mill. It was a Sunday afternoon. We were the only people in the restaurant. We ordered from the menu. The staff was very friendly and often funny. The atmosphere was old and historic in the old wood building. You could see cobwebs from the rafters and it added to the old charm of the place. Several of us ordered the Evansville German Sandwich. It was the worst I had ever had. It was way over cooked and did not taste as good as a pork rind does. The others had the Club Sandwich. How can you mess up a Club Sandwich? The sandwich was not fresh and the veges on it were old and nasty. I do not recommend the Old Mill for any meal.”

“Food was cold, waitress kept taking smoke breaks - forgot refills on drinks, no desserts, left at 7pm, very overpriced. Will not refer to my guests at my motel for any reason, very over priced. Will not return.”

“I would have to say that the cost has increased dramatically over the years. Although sometimes steep, to me it is worth it. I have been going there since they opened their doors as the Pasta House. Everyone there is extremely friendly to us. I now reside in Lafayette, Indiana and have driven from there to Evansville just to eat there. Great place. The only problem I've had is sometimes the service is slow and sometimes the new waiters are not as hospitable. But I understand that it can be hectic when busy plus learning the ropes.”

“Food was good, but took 20 minutes to come out on a not-busy Thursday night. Bartender was inattentive and put in about half the booze he was supposed to. When I complained to the manager for not yelling or mean, about the food taking so long and the booze being shorted he didn't apologize or offer to take it off the bill or anything. He totally dismissed me. Not good customer service. I won't be going back there.”

“Hotel looks like a little shack in the middle of nowhere-ville, Evansville. They serve burgers, fries, all kinds of ice cream, corn dogs, etc. Fries are great, burgers melt in your mouth!”

“The menu, the atmosphere, the wait staff, and of course the chef make every meal special. Do yourself a favor and stop in. You'll be back.”

“We really enjoyed our meal. The bread was awesome. I liked the atmosphere and we had a waiter that was friendly and efficient. They happened to have a little jazz band playing that night which added to our enjoyment. I recommend it.”

“We got there early (4:30 pm on a Saturday) There were only 2 other tables of people in the restaurant when we got there. The service was very slow and the waiter started out a little short with us, but eventually kind of warmed up and was more friendly. Took forever to even get him to take our cocktail order and then it took quite a while to get our drinks and bread. The main dish I ordered was good, but I thought a little pricey. Would I eat there again? Possibly, but the service really needs to be improved.”

“Visited restaurant sat at 5:30 and was immediately seated. Ordered our drinks and they were brought to us right away and we ordered our dinner. Bread and salad took 20 minutes. The salad was heavily saturated in the house dressing with large clumps of lettuce throughout it. After 1 hour I asked the waitress to check on our dinner and she said "it would be out shortly". After another 30 minutes of not receiving our dinner I asked again to check on our dinner and she said 'there were plating it now" but I could not see any dinners on ready to be delivered on their counter, so we left and went to different restaurant. I called the restaurant on Monday and asked for the name of their district manager. The gentleman who answered the phone said they don't have a district manager and hung up. I immediately called back twice and nobody would answer the phone.”

“I have traveled the world over, eaten in the best (and sometimes the worst) restaurants, and I put Maxine's restaurant up there with the best for the types of food that she prepares. Maxine's serves pasta salads: about 10 or more types: assorted quiches, chicken salads, casseroles, veggie salads, fresh croissants are used for her salad sandwiches, with an assortment of other breads to choose from. The casseroles to choose from change daily, and every one I tried was outstanding. I drive an hour from Madisonville each way to go load up on my favorites: tortellini pasta salad, bow tie past salad, potato salads, (2-3 types), chicken salad, and the oriental salad. Did I mention the desserts? Oh my goodness: a whole display case of some of the best cakes, tortes, pies, cookies, and other treats. Drinks are fresh brewed teas, coffees, and large assortments of bottled teas, and various soft drinks. The staff is friendly, and eager to help and assistance with your choices with free samples of anything that you may wish to sample. Wish if I lived closer! Prices are very reasonable!”

“This restaurant was the worst dinning experience I have ever had. Service was terrible. Our order was wrong, so we sent it back. It took over 45 minutes to get our order and it was wrong again. So instead of waiting we tried to eat it anyway. I took one bite and pushed it away as did my son with his order as well. My husband ate about 1/4 of his. So we just got up and left and said we would never go back. Wish someone would come to our table and asked what we wrong with our meals! I would have told them. Anyway we did pay for the meal, but after we left we thought about and wish we hadn't paid for such a bad meal.”

“This restaurant is truly Evansville's hidden item. The food is exceptional, the atmosphere makes you feel very relaxed, and Raffia's has the best wine selection in the city! I can not believe people are not waiting in line to eat here!”

“I'm writing this with the fact in mind that this is an inexpensive, corporate chain, fast-food place, not a nice unique "sit down" restaurant. As such, it's great. The food is good, and much of it is healthy if you choose the baked fish. The atmosphere is pretty good bad by fast food standards; at least it has more warmth than the plastic hard seats and antiseptic colors of McDonald's and that ilk. Best of all, the service is very good for fast food. They're polite and friendly, and if there's a problem with the order they'll work with you. This is not a fine home-grown restaurant dripping with character and great selections, but you're not going to spend a lot either.”

“This is the best Italian restaurant in Evansville. The pasta dishes (which I have tasted quite a few) are served hot and fresh, and can be seasoned with pepper flakes to order. The bread is a soft slightly chesses, rosemary herbal delight that melts in your mouth. Your entree comes with bread and salad or soup and bread. Both options are very flavorful and appealing to the mouth senses.”
