“My friends and I have been coming to the Firkin for years and is the spot if you are in downtown. Libertyville or anywhere near for that matter. It is a great place to meet up for drinks, catch some live music, and eat really tasty food. The Firkin always has delicious monthly specials and new interesting beers to try. The staff is super friendly and knowledgeable. The Firkins atmosphere is uplifting and fun!”

“After several visits to the Firkin, I am sure this place should be on everyone's map of great destinations to dine and drink at. The lunch service is very quick, so if you're out for a work break, don't hesitate to stop in for a bite to eat. The dinner service is also very good, they get that food out to the tables fast and hot and tasty. The lunch and dinner menu is the same all day, so any food mood you're in will be satisfied. Service is friendly, the entire staff knows their beer and how to pair it with the food items. The beer on draught is remarkable with so many unique and hard to find brews on their tap handles. I'm always impressed by the new beers coming on draught. For some great live entertainment, they host bands on Tuesday & Thursday evenings. Get there early to have enjoyed some great eats and get some great seats.”

“Walk into the tavern and you automatically feel relaxed, because the decor is charming, peaceful, and a bit romantic. In fact, we were pleased to witness an acceptance of a proposal of marriage one evening. We also bring our business clients in because they feel right at home. They are impressed with the Tavern's outstanding food and beverage selection of such high quality. The Tavern's servers are professionally discrete, and they know how to give your clients proper conversation time. Big deals have been made in the tavern dining rooms. Their upper level also features 2 beautiful private rooms that a great for business or social events. We have always been more than pleased with the private room service. As for the food, wow is a start. You can certainly tell that the kitchen staff really enjoys preparing food that puts a smile on their guest's faces. We love their prime USDA steaks, and have never had a better steak elsewhere. The fresh seafood is wonderful, and the rack of lamb must be ordered. I started eating lamb for the first time at the tavern and it most certainly delivers a wonderful taste sensation. We haven't ever sent anything back to the kitchen because we did not like the taste. If a diverse menu gives you reason for pause, the servers are always happy to suggest some of their favorite dishes. For guests who like to experiment with food tastes, our server once picked our entire meal and we absolutely enjoyed it all. Be sure to look at the wine by the glass list and the awesome wine by the bottle list. If you start with a glass, you will have plenty of time to find a perfect bottle to share. Their wine steward is available to assist in a selection as well. Don't forget to stop at the bar for an after dinner drink or a single malt scotch.”

“We have been going to Liberty for over 2 yrs now and have not had one disappointing meal there. They can accommodate couples who want dinner and to be able to chat as well as large groups and families with children. The owners George and Maria make it a point to greet each patron sometime during their meal. Beverages are promptly refilled and their Cream of Mushroom soup - is out of this world. In addition they have many wonderful desserts. Go! You won't be disappointed.”

“I use this restaurant for entertaining business associates on the weekdays but my wife loves to go there with me on the weekends. Fantastic steaks, a great and fairly priced wine list and a somewhat casual but charming atmosphere keep us coming back.”

“This establishment has great atmosphere, service, food, and selection. Although it is certainly a fine dinning experience, there is still a quaint and friendly feel. The menu is uniquely excellent. I had salmon with a pesto cavier. The wine list is second to none, and the bartenders are extremely knowledgeable and helpful when making selections. Although I do not recommend it as a place to take children, my son was treated very well by the staff. The chef even talked to him about how the mussels were prepared.”
