Place wasn't on fire, friendly to me.

“Before going to the restaurant, I heard about the good and bad. Especially concerning a Pony tailed waiter. He was friendly to me. Great food. Would be better is management fired the buffoons and hired caring individuals.”

Great atmosphere for a comedy skit.
Only 1 hour to eat lunch.

“I've been to this restaurant on several occasions and I like the taste of the roasted chicken. It even has a familiar taste of an experience I once encountered in the Cook County prison. I just can't put my finger on it. The guy with the pony tail is very entertaining. The food came quick as I'm sure the server does too. Great restaurant and I'll be back!”

The marinated vegetables/giardino.
Crowded and busy during peak times.

“We used to live in Deerfield and the thing I miss most are the wonderful inexpensive sandwiches at Potbellies. We also really enjoyed the live local musicians that have a neat perch up above the seating area in a kind of balcony. This would be my fist stop if ever go back.”

Wood roasted chicken for a great value.
Nothing.

“We have been going to Wood Fire for 10 years and have always thought the food was delicious. Found the chicken was tender and well roasted, service helpful and has always been a good value. The food comes very quickly. The waiter with the ponytail has always served us well.”

The bread. Yes you read that right. The bread!
Edible food, but nothing special. Over-priced for what you get.

“Usually Italian restaurants are a reliable option when looking for a dining option. However, this does not fall into that category. I ordered the bowtie pasta with beans and spinach. The pasta was overcooked. Not anywhere close to being "al dente". I tried a friend's dish, fettuccine with mushrooms, and the pasta was again overcooked. My entree itself was quite bland with little to no character. The best thing about this place was the bread! The decor is decent, but this is not a good place for a date, anniversaries or the like. Maybe because it was Sunday evening, but the lighting was not right to create any sort of mood. Rather, it was overly bright. The service was decent, but again for restaurants that this one is trying to be in can be the difference between a great/memorable time and one that won't be fondly remembered. The restaurant is fine if you need something to fill your stomach, but again there are better options for the money spent. What shocked me even more when I did a search is that I found this and Restaurant Bottaio in Libertyville belong to the same group. The two restaurants are literally worlds apart! Abruzzi is quite pedestrian whereas Bottaio creates an excellent atmosphere whether to enjoy a nice night with friends or for something more romantic. I would recommend Bottaio in a Heartbeat. However, I would suggest others find another Italian place in Northbrook or Highland Park before even considering Abruzzi.”

The server had great pronunciation of the menu selections and was nice.
The food lead to one of the worst dining experiences I've had.

“To be quite honest, the food was not good. The mozzarella marinara appetizer had barely any cheese, a horrible thick, burnt cornmeal breading and the brochette was topped with imitation parmesan cheese that used more filler than actual parmesan. It had a stale flavor. I've only sent something back once before in my life and now twice. There was no way anyone could truly like that mozzarella marinara, what a joke. My meal had marsala sauce in it. It was very oily. Marsala sauce is one of my favorites and this was not reflective of what it should be like. It was also over-priced for the below average food. I was looking forward to a delectable meal and was left missing $46 from my wallet and nothing to show for it. Maybe the pizzas might be better since they had a wood burning stove. But based on the appetizers and entree, there will be no way for me to know as I would never go back.”

Everything else.

“Average to below average fast food served by a staff with a collectively bad attitude. The people I encountered, beginning with the loser behind the counter who took our order, all acted like they were doing us a favor by waiting on us. Call me crazy but, my expectation, when I spend my hard-earned dollar at a restaurant, is that I'll be treated with a minimal level of respect by the staff. The Deerfield area has many good value restaurants to choose from, all of which have better food and certainly a better trained and managed staff. I'll never be back.”

Good food.
Bad parking (during lunch rush).

“I love Potbellys. There are several in this area. This one has really limited parking during the lunch rush. Got to love the sandwiches though. Their chili is good, but not worth 4.50 for a bowl with a slice of American cheese thrown in it.”

Food is very good.
Service was absolutely terrible.

“Went to wood fire recently and received absolutely terrible service. I have never written a review before, but we were treated by someone who rudely asked us what we wanted at the counter. Then when our drinks came, I received a medium instead of a large, when I inquired, a man with a ponytail snapped at me saying, "it wasn't on the slip. No." I told him I paid for the large and he responded, "Im not giving it to you, no. Then the food came and two of the servers stayed to ogle my friend's behind (he even bent down a bit to get a better look). Why am I writing this? Probably to get it off my chest a little bit, but mainly to help others. They have great food, but made everyone at our table there feel like crap. I won't be back. Ever.”

Horrible service!

“Excellent food! Loved it! However, the service stunk! It took me an hour just to place my order and another hour to get my food. If you are not patient, don't come here!”

Space.

“This is by far one of the best Chinese restaurants I�ve ever been to! The staff is incredibly friendly and accommodating to any dietary needs! I don't know if Julie is still the owner, but I love her! The food rocks and is very reasonably priced! You'd be remiss to not eat here at least once!”
