User Reviews for Chicago Restaurants« Go back to Evansville AttractionsResearch User Reviews for Chicago (1-20 of 84)Gino's East Restaurants
“We asked the hotel desk clerk, If you were going to get real Chicago-style deep dish pizza, where would you go? He quickly replied, Gino's, now resting in it's second home on Wells Street, is perfect for anyone who wants to experience authentic Chicago dining. The beer list is formidable, the atmosphere great, and, of course, the deep dish pizza is AMAZING. A little pricey but two people still couldn't finish it but completely worth it. I'll never go to Chicago again without visiting Gino's!”

“Nice local place with a great menu selection. Lots to choose from. Service and food were both great. Atmosphere is interesting - reminiscent of an upscale family dinner from years ago.”

“OMG we love this place. The wait staff is so funn. We love the sassy service. It's just so funny! As server in a finer diner it is so nice to see wait staff give back what they get from the guest. We come here mostly for the laughs. But the food is dam good too.”

“I would definitely not recommend this place to anyone. The customer service is poor. Very bad, unprofessional, and deceitful customer service. I do not recommend Reggio's Pizza to anyone.”

“This is the place I have to stop in more than once every time I visit Chicago. Everything is great. All the tapas are good and the portions allow you to taste all you can eat. The sangria is always excellent. I recommend it to everyone in Chicago to stop by. We even had our wedding reception there. The prices are affordable. I have tried to find a comparable place here in Texas but none can compare to the Cafe Iberico.”

“I try to go to Caffe Baci as often as possible because they have many healthy options for every time of day. The atmosphere is very friendly to adults and kids alike. It has a great Italian feel to it and the meals them self are very authentic to Italian cooking. I would highly recommend any of the locations. The fill up quick so get there before the rush, I guarantee it will be worth your time.”

“Agostinos is a great value, small, cozy restaurant with very good food prepared to order. Calamari appetizer is very tender & flavorful. Tiramisu is made in-house and delicious! The chicken dish I had was very tender and smothered in mushrooms. Prices were reasonable. Parking lot is very small with on the street parking after 6pm.”

“This has always been one of my favorite restaurants - one to which I brought out-of-town guests happily. This past weekend I brought guests who came to Chicago once a year on business and always made the trip to Agostino's their highlight of the trip. We were very disappointed. The alfredo tasted like liquid custard - as if someone had forgotten the cheese - no garlic, no seasoning. The other pasta dishes also tasted unseasoned. The mussels were sparse and thin. The overall feeling of the 6 people in our group - all Agostino's fans - was disappointment. Would I go there again? Yes, because anyone can have a bad night. But I would not take a chance on bringing a friend or client there. However, the service was wonderful as always.”

“My girlfriend and I intended on having a nice relaxing meal and enjoying a bottle of wine. The food is good but nothing special. The basic expected Italian fare. Many piccata style sauces, and the traditional repeated dishes. The service however is something to be weary about. I am a server myself and I could never imagine trying to pull one over on guests like this. You will be pushed if not forced into a wine decision you are not happy with. Our server repeatedly brought over bottles of wine from $145-$500 after stating that we were not interested. You will also be unknowingly charged for $8 bottles of flat or sparkling water without asking for it. Our busboy told us the server thought we could use some water, how nice. In a location that has many travelers in and out of town, service is not a priority. Chicago is a town with some of the best dining in the world, don't waste your time here.”

“We get there and decide to order some drinks, I'm thinking Mexican restaurant - margaritas. Nope. Only 1 size and one flavor and nothing frozen. The 9 dollar margarita is the size of a martini and is not good at all. She tells me they have daiquiris and I get excited, however they aren't frozen either. Aren't they all frozen? Anyway the highlight of the evening was the gaucomole. Probably the best I have ever had. The service was terrible and not friendly at all. The food was dry and very bland. You are better off going to chipotle.”

“Mediocre tacos, sub-par burritos and an openly hostile staff make this an unpleasant experience. Throw in a couple of bums aggressively panhandling, and you have TBK in a nutshell. The last straw for me was when the grill cooks were openly making fun of me, and told the cashier that I couldn't understand them because they were talking too fast.”

“On a recent visit to Rosemont for a convention in town, my husband and I grabbed a taxi and asked the driver to take us to an Italian restaurant that we had in mind. The driver told us to forget about that restaurant and urged us to try out a place called Basilico. He told us that if he took us there and we didn't like the food that he would give us a ride back after the meal for free! Upon arrival we were warmly greeted by a young, handsome gentleman who was all smiles. We later learned that he was the recent new owner of the restaurant. The rest of the staff was just as warm and friendly and very professional. Our waiter was quick to take care of us and even helped make selections by presenting the specials of the day. The food was absolutely amazing like no other Italian restaurant I have ever been to. The restaurant itself is set in a very romantic old world style with a ceiling covered in what seems like hundreds of oil paintings from different artists. The tables are all dressed up in elegant white tablecloths and lit with candles. It is extremely romantic and comfortable. To top it all off, the prices were extremely reasonable, much cheaper than the restaurant was originally heading to. Thanks to the friendly suggestion from our cab driver. He never ended up having to give us the free ride back.”

“The food was amazing! I went last night with 4 of my girlfriends and after tasting each others plates I loved everything. Our waiter was this young blonde lady who wasn't as friendly as we would hope but whatever she just cuts her tip. I made reservations online and we were seated pretty timely. I can't get over how delicious the plates were. And we were all nice and full, with leftovers.”

“This is a very small hole in the wall with excellent food. The owner is always there to serve with a smile. There are only about 3 small tables. Most people either deliver or order for take out. “His food is ok. Seems like it's been frozen for a while. However, the waitress that I had at this location was terrible. She was not friendly at all, and after I asked if the restaurant gives a student discount for university students (I heard it does and that is why I went to try it out) she rudely said no and looked at me strangely. I paid gave her a 10% tip and she put the money down and told me that I have to give her 15%! ”

“Have dined at most of Chicago-area Italian spots, and for last 20 yrs. This remains my absolute favorite! The best calamari fritter anywhere, top shelf bread and olive oil, very good salads/dressings. Entree quality, portion sizes and pricing cannot be beat. Authentic Italian, just as the owner's family has preserved it for decades. Have many favorite entrees of mine here, probably most notable for me is the shrimp with vodka sauce / pasta. Relatively intimate dining, with unpretentious atmosphere that is inviting to the 'stars' as well as families.”

“First two tips here in the past were great. The last time the waitress was rude and the servings very small and quite expensive. I think $40.00 for two lamp chops is pricy. On the positive end, they honored our request for a window seat and the breads brought around are excellent. A restaurant doesn¿t have to be that expensive and we are not all on business trips.”

“Actually, this cafe is not Mexican. It's Cuban. The food portions are small, yes and the prices high. Be prepared to pay a bill of 120 dollars per couple, with a couple of drinks, entree and salad or soup. The salsa scene is attractive for some people looking to find a hook up for the night.”

“I have lived in the area forever and just never found the time to stop in. Finally tried it and glad I did. First of all the employees couldn't have been warmer or more inviting. I would call the decor a kind of shabby chic but other than that I had no complaints. The food was fantastic and priced more than fairly. If you live in the area and like me have never eaten here, do your self a favor and go on in.”

“This is a great place to take your kids on a rainy day or when the kids just need to run around and you need a few minutes to yourself or to talk to a friend that also has kids. Caesarian is just like a chuck 'e' cheese only better! The food is less expensive and better, there are fewer people (which are nice because it's easier to keep an eye on your kids), overall there is just less chaos, a great way to keep the parents sane. They have good deals on food and drinks on the off days and even their parties are cheap. While they have some video games, they also have the games that give out tickets and their selection of prizes not so great; the kids are generally more interested in running around and playing in the play area. What is also really nice is they have a toddler area with only one way in, so the parents can let the little ones get some exercise and still chat with a friend. Anyway, it's a great place for kids and the parents get a bonus of it not being too expensive, too loud, too chaotic, too complicated, etc. You can easily spend a couple of hours there without spending any money! How can you beat that?”

“I was not impressed at all. Although the restaurant was elegant and romantic, the food and the service was very less than perfect. The portion was measly, the quality of food was generically prepared and I doubt that it would represent a true, authentic Armenian-style restaurant. The meal and beverage was way too expensive for what I received and the music did not reflect the theme of the restaurant I was completely disappointed.”

“This place was really bad. We went for a buffet and decided never to step into this restaurant again. To start with the food was cold. The ambiance was poor. There was some brown stuff leaking from the roof and the chefs were trying to repair the roof. It was pathetic. We could not finish our lunch. The service was bad. The management had charged an automatic gratuity of 20 percent for a party of 3!! Upon inquiring they had the audacity to tell us that its a new rule in Chicago. Stay away Folks ! There are a lot of good Indian restaurants in Chicago and this is the worst.”

“While waiting on a friend with a group of people notice a young woman who isn't being allowed into the bar. After some confusion I notice the lady who isn't being allowed in is the friend I am waiting on. She tells me that the doorman had confused her with a hooker who was getting friendly with customers last week. Of course, this was the first time either of us had been to this place. We ordered food and beer and the waitress asks our group if we know my female friend who is sitting with us. Some of the group knew her, other didn't. The waitress then goes and tells the doorman that we really don't know her and are just covering it up. So, again he pulls the young lady aside and asks her to leave. This time the group is saying "Hey, we know her!" At this point we just want to pay and leave. After 20 minutes of waiting with our coat on the waitress finally gets up from eating her dinner, and hands us our check. After the disrespect, bad service, I leave a bad tip. The waitress then follows me outside asking me why I left a poor tip. A. the bar called my friend a HOOKER and would not allow her in; B. The service. C. Food was bad, beer was warm. Do I need to go on? Worst bar EVER. ”

“I should have remembered that advertisements are deceptive by nature and purchased. How and why Gene and Gerogettis ever got its stellar reputation is beyond me. From the moment we walked in, and we had reservations, we experience nothing but rude and surly treatment. The food, I had steak, was mediocre at best with no flavor whatsoever. I had a side order of creamed spinach which was okay. Our bill for two people, no alcohol, was over $100. What a waste of hard-earned money. There are too many other good steak houses in Chicago from which to choose. ”

“The Reggie's experience was an interesting one. Although I am a huge fan of the small pepperoni deep dish pizza, I found my experience somewhat compromised by the soup kitchen style service. Reggios at O'Hare, does rank as the tastiest pizza I have ever had though, and is now the benchmark for pizzas world-wide. The poor treatment from Reggie's employees is but a small price to pay to have just one bite of deep dish heaven.”

“This place is great , it's been in business and owned by the same family for almost 60 years. They smoke there own fish on site and are the only place I have ever found that smokes shrimp!!! There fried seafood is also excellent especially their signature shrimp. Forget Red Lobster this is the REAL DEAL. Service is quick and friendly. They are open 7 days a week from 10am to 10pm. They have pictures on the wall of the Blues Brothers jump across the 95th street bridge which is right outside their door...very cool.”

“The BEST Mexican food in the entire United States! (I've eaten at so many, I'm a qualified critic.) It has it ALL, including most flavorful Margaritas (don't even need the third grandee one to "hit the floor"), helpful and excellent wait staff, and don't even get me started on the Mole sauce. I've searched high and low, near and far to find better Mole and I just can't seem to find another even comparable. You would be doing yourself wrong if you didn't eat at Las Pinatas. I make it a MUST STOP every time I'm back in my hometown Chicago. ”
