User Reviews for Gainesville Restaurants« Go back to Amarillo Travel GuideResearch User Reviews for Gainesville (1-13 of 13)Bistro 1245
“I came to Bistro 1245 expecting it to be a good place to eat, but it was only mediocre. The food was pricey and of the not very good category. I pay for a small plate of Pasta Roma. My friend paid for a salad Nicoline that was the size of a side salad from cracker barrel. The restaurant was clean and the servers were friendly, but only came around to help us when they took our order, saw we were done eating, and to drop off the check. Parking was a task and the restrooms are located outside the building. You have to walk down the walkway and around the corner to get to them. If you have money to burn, you are welcomed to stop here. If not, go somewhere else like McAllister's.”

“I cannot believe the service that I was given at this restaurant. We were sitting at the table for over 15 minutes before anyone came to get our drinks. After we got our drinks it was another 10 min before she came to take our order. I ordered a French dip sandwich (roast beef and melted cheese) and my friend ordered a grilled chicken sandwich with guacamole and cheese. 15 minutes later the server came back to the table to tell me that there was no more roast beef so I ordered a turkey sandwich with cheese & asked for the sandwich to be pressed (like the French dip). She said they could do that. 15 minutes later she came back with a chicken sandwich with marinara sauce & cheese and my cold turkey sandwich. Both my friend and I pointed out this was the wrong chicken sandwich and my turkey sandwich was not hot. She took the sandwiches back to be fixed but left us the sweet potato fries since we had waited so long and were starving at this point. My friend and I munched on our cold fries while we waited for the sandwiches to reappear. My sandwich came back hot, and my friend got her chicken sandwich fixed (but there was still marinara on her bun).”

“Food has always been good, maybe not "haute cuisine" but dependably cooked exactly as requested. Open 24 hr, great waiter service, and reasonable price.”

“This is a great drive through burger shop, A little run down, but it adds to the charm, it has a two sided drive through and a walk up window (if you prefer) it is also the door that the employees get in and out of, so hold it for them if you see them carrying pitchers of yummy sweet tea! The food is the best greasy food you can get, and def beats any chain burger you can get, but you must try their breakfast, awesome sausage egg sandwiches, and burger egg sandwiches, tater tots bring you back to preschool and if that doesn't do it for you, it is probably the only place to get burgers for breakfast, because they serve lunch at 6 am! Too Cool!”

“The service is lacking. The quality and portion sizes were not worth the money spent. They chase you out of the restaurant, even if there are plenty of empty tables. We didn't get seated until about 5:45. By 6:35 they were trying to get us to leave. In fact, while I was in the restroom, they came to the table and said sorry guys, and began to set place settings for more customers. I wasn't able to finish my drink, nor could we order dessert. I tried calling the management several times but you guessed it they don't answer their phones.”

“I eat out quite often, and have never felt the need to complain about a restaurant until now. If you have never been to a Hibachi restaurant, you may be impressed with the novelty of Yamato. However, if you have been to any other Hibachi restaurants, you will be sorely disappointed. The food was burned in places, yet undercooked. The sauces were bland. The chef did fewer "tricks" than any other restaurant. The restaurant does not serve desserts on the weekend because, as the waitress told us, "they want to get people in and out as fast as possible." At least she was honest. The check was given to us before we were half-way finished with our plates, thus precluding us from ordering more drinks. The 11 of us felt like we were in a fast food restaurant. We all agreed it was the worst dining experience we have ever had, and we were not troublesome customers in any way.”

“We waited about 30 minutes for a table. Many tables were empty because the restaurant does not have sufficient staff. We were apologetically told by a staff member that it is absentee management so sorry. After being seated we waited another 20 minutes for our food in a very uncomfortably warm restaurant. Our sweat was dripping and sizzling on the hibachi table. Finally, after being served hibachi style my husband did not any vegetable because the chef's cart did not have enough food for everyone at the table. The chef apologized and asked a server to bring the veggies from the kitchen. They never arrived. Another diner at the table asked my husband if they were ever brought, and commented how poor service was this evening and that Kobi in Orlando is much better. They did correct the check for this error. The service was poor and mediocre food. The ladies room was a disgrace too.”

“Food is fresh, sushi is made to order, and includes all standard favorites and some specialties for the area, such as a gator roll. Excellent food cooked right in front of you with comical chefs and the food is provided in huge quantity. Wonderfully recommended. If you hit it before 6:30 PM, they have early bird specials that are less than $10. Nothing but good things to say about them.”

“I ate at Yamato for the first time last night, and I can not wait to go back. The food was the best I have tasted in a while. The service was great. And the chef that cooked at our table was very talented! Huge thumbs up from me. I highly recommend everyone try this place at least once. (and after once you'll be hooked)”

“Bento is like the McDonald's of sushi in town. It is conveniently located to movie theater, shopping and UF. The food is fresh, reasonably priced and usually served pretty quickly. This isn't the sort of place you would take someone to impress them but if you are in the mood for fast fresh sushi, its not a bad choice. Customers line up at the counter to place their orders and pay when ordering. Staff will bring your order out to your table. Soft drinks and condiments are a serve yourself set up. There are tables inside and in the courtyard outside. The staff has always seemed fairly pleasant and the place looks pretty clean. I have been there several times and its always been fine.”

“I went here recently for a birthday party. The service was incredibly slow and the waitress was openly hostile. Birthday cake was served among the dirty dishes from dinner. Had to get up and find the waitress for everything we needed. Tip was automatically added due to size of group, so I guess she didn't care about pleasing us since her tip was guaranteed. I even had to get up and ask for the check after waiting over 30 minutes after we were all done. The table side "chef" was pleasant, but the food was very basic-bland fried rice, greasy noodles, dry meat--nothing to rave about here. The prices were reasonable, but considering the mediocrity of the food and the miserable service, this was not a place I would recommend or return to. My son went here about 2 weeks after I did and came home with a very similar report. Gainesville has some great restaurants and this is not among them.”

“It's amazing they start out with a giant flame on the cooking surface. Then they do some tricks with some eggs for your rice (you have to see that yourself). After that they cooked your food with more cool tricks, they serve you the food as its done. The food is great, thats about all I can say its a really nice place and the atmosphere is great and fun.”
