“We went there with out a reservation and waited 3 hrs when quoted 45 min. By the time we were sat half my party of 5 were loaded from ordering doubles for fear of going thirsty due to slow service.”

• Bathrooms are dumpy and only 1 for the whole restaurant!

“Awesome, craziness! Great atmosphere, live band and Giant red drinks, on the bay for beautiful sunset! We had a blast, the staff was great and from almost everywhere in the world. I can't wait to go again next year!”

• The view of the beach.
• The service, didn't bring items, didn't check in about food, waited over 20 min for check, not helpful.

“Although we have been going to Capt. Dave's for years, we have had several recent experiences with mediocre food at high prices with very inattentive service. Our food was basically tasteless and not prepared promptly. Seems like one of those places that made it big and then forgot why they were popular in the first place. The view, however, is still beautiful of the beach, particularly at sunset.”

• Sometimes there's a wait.

“Everyone Ive gone with raves about the amberjack and grouper. I usually have a cheeseburger and It's delicious and huge. The hello sunshine orange cake Is to die for! I live about an hour away and drive to destine just for the cake. I like that this restaurant Is on the beach. You get a very nice breeze as you're enjoying your meal. It's also fun to people watch all the beach-goers.”

“This restaurant was way over priced for what you got. We ordered 2 pancakes, 2 orders of bacon (4 strips total) and 4 eggs and the bill was over 20 bucks. And the food wasn't all the great. Spend you money else where.”

• Great food and beach atmosphere.
• Sometimes long wait esp. in the peak tourist season.

“This is one of my favorite restaurants in Destin. It's great for families with young children b/c of the playground right on the beach. You can walk in right off the sand and water to enjoy a great meal and its open-air atmosphere really lets you enjoy the beach while you eat. My family and I have eaten there over the last 7 - 8 years of going to destine and everything we've ever eaten has been wonderful and really shows the flavors of the gulf coast.”

• Great place to eat-try it out for you and see.

“My husband and I always visit the fisherman's wharf while vacationing in Destin. We were last there on may 14 of this year (our anniversary) and as usual it was great! I especially like the blackened amberjack and the seafood gumbo. The service is excellent and the food is great. The view from the back deck, which you can also dine on, is very nice. You can sit and have a drink while you watch the boats dock. We come here every year and it just keeps getting better.”

“Been going to cap. Dave's for years. We go to destine once a year and would not think of missing cap. Dave's wonderful food and service and of course, the beautiful view especially at sunset. Always a great experience to dine at cap. Dave¿s. Anyone who complains about this great restaurant just simply cannot be made happy!”

“mc guiros is a great place for anyone to go to have a great meal and a few drinks, I go at least a couple of times when I vacation in destine, sty patty's day is an added bonus if your lucky enough to be in destine at that time, the only negative thing to say is the parking and every great restaurant has the same problem. ”

• I really have nothing bad to say about la past.

“I am actually not a huge fan of Mexican at all but I really do enjoy la past. I think it's one of the best authentic Mexican restaurants I have ever been to with great food, very good service, and a wonderful, clean atmosphere. My fiancé even likes to go there and he likes Mexican cuisine even less than I do. I think the bad experience the other gentleman had must have been a fluke.”

• So big you can get lost in it!

“My kids love going to Fuddruckers every time we are in destine or ft Walton beach. The food is good, the decor is fun and the playground and alligators make it a unique place to chill after a day at the beach! We love it and it's a must on our list every visit! Extensive list of sauces available to buy in the gift shop, plus fun toys, art, etc. We just love Fuddruckers!”

• Food, food, and food! Service and atmosphere were great too!
• Get there early or plan on waiting a few minutes (the line went fast).

“Absolutely a must! My husband and I went there on a whim and wound up eating there the next day before we drove home from our mini vacation. The eggs benedict over an English muffin with hollandaise sauce was my husband's favorite (until we went back and he ordered an omelets! Now he can't decide!). I've decided that my mission is to try everything on the menu at least once!”

“I savored every morsel of the "Encrusted Grouper." This was a nice sized portion of fish coated with pecans and almonds and sauteed in a butter-garlic-wine sauce. The vegetable sides, broccoli (perfectly al-dente) and a risotto were excellent. Prices are reasonable considering the quality. The restaurant also has an early bird 2 for 1 special on selected entrees. This was one of the best dinners I've enjoyed in the past ten years. Highly recommended.”

“McGuire's is a gem, it is the best Irish pub in the US. I took my girl friend, I have been to the one in Pensacola a couple of times, and the one in Destin did not disappoint It was just as good, had the same ambiance, the service was great. And the food is very affordable and the portions are huge. They have thousands of dollars on the ceiling, that customers can put up, I told my Girlfriend about it till you see it, it doesn't comprehend. I would go again to Maguire's in a heart beat if I was in the area. ”

“I am truly sorry the other reviewer had such a bad experience. But my family and I love eating at La Paz. The food is tremendous! I especially recommend the Santa Fe combo meal. It is wonderful. They have 2 types of salsa - free. It is rather upscale for a "Mexican" restaurant. We drive 70+ miles (one way) often to eat at this restaurant. In fact, I am taking 100 members of my choir and orchestra (from First Baptist Church - Panama City, FL) there to eat on August 11, 2006. So decide for yourself. ”

• Great view of the ocean and great service.
• Food tasted like it was fried in year-old cooking oil.

“Visited here 3 years ago and it was great. The waiter, James, was great and this is a very family friendly restaurant. It sits on the beach and you and your kids can play while you wait for your table. They even provide a hose for spraying off the sand before you go to your table. This place must have changed owners or managers because the food was served barely warm and it tasted like it was fried in year-old cooking oil. Maybe they had an "Off" day/meal. I'd give it another chance though.”

“Terrible restaurant. Food is meager and outlandish prices charged for 'pitcher' of margarita (actually carafe).

Buyer beware! This is the worst Mexican I have ever had - we got sick - avoid!!!! ”

• Both location and price are good. That's the only two positive things I can say.
• Loud, a bit scruffy, almost seems dirty. Slow service, long waits.

“This restaurant is for those who enjoy the most casual dining. It is a large, rambling, open-air restaurant right on the beach. In fact you can wander on the sand as you wait - and you will wait! Definitely not worth the wait either. Crowded, noisy, one or two very inexpensive wines, and no wine glasses to serve them in.”

• Good food, good prices, casual.
• They won't take reservations, so if you want to go with a group, that can be a problem unless you arrive very early.

“We've been here a number of times over the years. The food is always great. The atmosphere is OK. It's much better if you can eat out on the deck. It overlooks the harbor in Destin. They have wonderful little hushpuppies that they place on the table as appetizers. Careful- it's easy to fill up on them!”

• Great food, great price, great service
• The location is not a great one if you are staying in Destin, but if you are staying along Hwy 30A, it is much better than driving into Destin.

“This little place seems to be undiscovered. It is not really visible from the main road, and it is outside of town, just off of Hwy 98 going toward Panama City. We have been there a number of times over the past 6 or 7 years, never need reservations. I have made reservations when I have taken a group (up to 15-20 people) here and gotten great service. In fact it has always been top-notch. The food is surprisingly creative and fresh. The plated food always looks beautiful with presentation usually only found in very expensive places. Don't let the outside of this little place fool you. It is worth the short drive out of town.”

“Food is outstanding. Take advantage of seasonal specialties offered by the chef. Grilled triggerfish served on garlic mashed potatoes was to die for. We've been quite a few times, never disappointed. Definitely need reservations.”
