“Had the Mom's meatloaf, it was the worst meatloaf I have ever had. To call it dog food is unfair to Alpo. The mashed potatoes were well cooked and seasoned but the gravy was package gravy that was solid glop of goo. Green beans out of a can nicely seasoned. Waitress was nice. I would never go back. Was empty when I walked in and I should have taken the clue.”

“I kept hearing Hog Heaven and Charlie Horse before I visited Daytona. I tried both. For portion size and taste it was Hog Heaven by a mile. Not one for the veggies though.”

“I had 3-egg omelet with veggies & cheese. Cheese was cold, peppers and tomatoes were stale and old. The omelet itself was thin and oily, not fluffy. My friends had egg, hash browns and it was ok. So food was edible.”

“I was at Pat's twice for breakfast while in the Daytona area in September. It's not the place to go for ambiance, and it certainly is no-frills, but if you want some good down-home Southern food with some friendly folks serving and cooking this is your place. Decent portions of good tasting food for very reasonable prices. The creamed chipped beef on toast was so good I ordered it on my second visit too, and our party pretty much spent the second meal tasting everyone's breakfast choices; all of which were just plain good cooking. This place is definitely worth going to for a good, down-home style meal.”

“We stayed at the Ocean Walk Resort- and came to Adobe Gilas to celebrate my birthday. The restaurant is hot - like the AC has something wrong with it - and condensation was dripping from the AC vents onto us. The Guacamole was unlike anything I had ever seen - brown and it was expensive almost $8.00 for the Guacamole and chips. Our party of 6 ordered various items. My son had ordered Steak Quesadilla - chicken was brought. But the chips were crispy - we just wish we'd had some salsa or something. My brother had the tacos - he is a human dumpster - will eat anything - and he had a hard time choking down the chicken. But he and my son ate most of their meals. I ordered the salad with bacon, chicken, and some sort of mexi-ranch dressing. Bacon was non-existent, chicken was so bad I took one bite and spit it into a napkin (dark brown - like it had sat in marinade for a year). I picked the avocado out of the salad and ate it- that was it. The salad dressing was so bland it tasted like water. My son & brother were the only people in our parties that ate their meals - the rest of us picked and ate the veggies and such out of the plates. My son and brother both became very ill - my son was sick all night and the next day to the point we could not leave. My brother became sick, but not as bad - and had to leave and go home in his car. This place nearly ruined my vacation.”

“My new favorite lunch restaurant. Greer food - unusual, fresh spices and flair. Try the basil dressing - to die for! The curry chicken salad Is greed and also the pesto chicken sandwich.”

“While vacationing in Daytona Beach during the Pepsi 400 weekend, we ate at The Starlight Diner 3 times (breakfast, lunch and dinner.) Everything was delicious, great sweet tea and the best French fries I've ever had!”

“This place has the most excellent fried chicken with mashed potatoes and gravy that I know of. The gravy is a magical highlight of the place as they make it with drippings, not from a mix! It tastes wonderful. The epitome of comfort food. But this is not the place to go if you want a fancy place, or if you are on a diet. It is the full cholesterol and fat laden article! This is a located at the end of a strip mall, so it is easy to miss, but be brave and try it out!”

“It was alright. Down on vacation and stopped in. food was pretty good, but it's a buffet and flies are all over. Try it.”

“Your info. Is wrong! Restaurant has moved to grand seas resort, beachside DaytoNA (2424 no. Atlantic, I think). and phone is 386-677-6000. Had to go looking, but it was worth the search. Same great food. Restaurant smaller, but very classy. Full bar. Best Italian food outside of Tuscany!”

“A traditional barbeque for sure. Paper towels on the tables, 6 sauces to choose from, troughs of iced beer, a very friendly staff, and let's not forget the ribs. They are a dry, though very moist rib leaving you to sample the different sauces, each of which is excellent. Very relaxed, great food, great location, and simple. We will be coming back our next trip.”

“We had a group of five and were celebrating two birthdays (asp does a good job of promoting, using birthday free dinners). After a long wait at the check-in, we were ushered to our table. We have been to asp many times and enjoyed the atmosphere and chatting with the wait staff. Our male waiter on this evening avoided us most of the evening, requiring us to endure a lengthy wait for our food to be delivered and, when we questioned him about his lack of caring, he proudly told us he had 16+ years of waiting on table! A horrible celebration! The manager did care, and "camped" our whole evening. Thanks for that much.”

“It was an interesting place. Not many people in the restaurant and when you walk in its apparent why. There¿s a dingy smell to the whole restaurant and the food isn¿t all that great. The tables seemed dirty and sticky. It¿s a good place to go to drink but don¿t waste your time and money on the food.”

“With so many steak houses to choose from in the Daytona Beach area, Gene's would not be one I would go to again. The food was cold, not cooked properly, served by a woman who insisted on standing by our table and chatting despite being ignored. The prices are high and my party was very disappointed.”

“It used to be a good restaurant but it's been the worst in town for at least last 5 years or so... I know bunch of locals stopped going there. Strongly NOT recommended unless management and/or ownership changes.”

“Advertised as "best undiscovered place in Daytona Beach" - believe me, this is true. The food is wonderful, particularly beef dishes. Although, you shouldn't miss out on the walnut grouper or veal marsala. All meals are started off with an unbelievable pesto pasta (complimentary) as is Paul's own sorbet between courses and homemade breads accompanied by raspberry butter. I rarely miss having the cherries jubilee served table side. Chef Paul is a former mayor of Daytona Beach and quite a character as is his long time waiter Jerome. We have eaten here on numerous occasions and are always surprised that the restaurant is not more crowded.”

“We had a good meal on Monday night at 8pm, April 3rd at Gila's in the Ocean Walk Village shopping center near the boardwalk in Daytona Beach. It's a bar with seat-your-self dinner tables. We went there because our original destination, Bubba Gump's, has a 2 hour wait. The appetizer chips, grouper sandwich, the taco salad were delicious. The only down side was the kitchen service. Our waitress was prompt but warned us that the kitchen was backed up with order. She estimated a 45 minute wait for our food and it took 50 minutes. Just enough time to drink a cold beer and eat some chips. The chips and 3 dips were good but not free like other Mexican restaurants that we've been to.”

“The restaurant is wok, but for some reason, after eating the sirloin mars ala, salad with Parmesan chesses, rolls and olive oil, garlic potatoes, my daughter and I have to run for the bathroom within 30 minutes. We end up with stomach cramps for approximately 6 hours. We have tried this on three different occasions, and are dumbfounded.”

Cowlicks, Inc. “This is a local ice ream shop on the A!A just south of the middle of Daytona Beach. The crowds in the summer are the sign of a good ice cream shop. Ice cream is fresh and they offer a lot of flavors. Great place to go after dinner or for an evening ice cream craving!”
